Abstract Circular RNA (circRNA) is considered an important regulator of cancer. Circ_0001998 is a newly discovered circRNA and its role in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains obscure and requires further study. The expression levels of circ_0001998 and miR-145 in LUAD were predicted by bioinformatics analysis and then verified by qRT-PCR in the LUAD cell lines. CCK-8, clone formation, EdU assay, and flow cytometry were applied to determine the effects of silencing circ_0001998 on the viability, proliferation, and apoptosis of LUAD cells. The target relationship between circ_0001998 and miR-145 was predicted by bioinformatics analysis and verified by a luciferase activity experiment. The effect of circ_0001998/miR-145 axis on the viability, proliferation, and apoptosis of LUAD cells was verified by the rescue experiment. Circ_0001998 was upregulated in LUAD, and silencing circ_0001998 suppressed viability, proliferation, and invasion of LUAD cells. The target gene of circ_0001998, miR-145, was downregulated in LUAD, and the low expression of miR-145 indicated a poor prognosis. The effect of silencing circ_0001998 on the biological function of LUAD cells was reversed by the miR-145 inhibitor. Circ_0001998 regulates the proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis of LUAD via sponging miR-145.

Abstract We report a long-term (4.5 year) time-series with weekly resolution of iodide and iodate measurements made at 4 depths within the Bedford Basin: a 70 m deep, seasonally stratified, coastal fjord located near Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The subsurface data (60 m) reveal strong inverse correlations of both iodide and total dissolved iodine (TDI) with dissolved oxygen and indicate that there is in-situ reduction of iodate in subsurface waters (in the presence of oxygen) as well as an additional external source of iodide from the remineralization of sinking organic matter, a flux from sediments, or both. Surface water (<10 m) iodide concentrations increase gradually from spring (70 nmol L-1) through fall (120-150 nmol L-1) and are not well represented by the current empirical parameterizations used to predict surface water iodide levels globally. The vertical gradient of iodide between subsurface and surface waters increases over the summer as a result of subsurface processes and, together with diapycnal mixing, may contribute to the seasonal accumulation of iodide in surface water. Examination of a global surface water iodide data compilation reveals an inverse relationship with subsurface oxygen concentrations which suggests that subsurface remineralization and sediment-water fluxes coupled with vertical mixing may also contribute to surface water iodide variability on a global scale.

Abstract Background. The aim of this study is to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy of 3D navigational template for Salter osteotomy of DDH in children. Methods. Thirty-two consecutive patients with DDH who underwent Salter osteotomy were evaluated between July 2014 and August 2017, and they were divided into the conventional group (n=16) and navigation template group (n=16) according to different surgical methods. The corrective acetabular degrees, radiation exposure, and operation time were compared between the two groups. Results. No nerve palsy or redislocation was reported in the navigation template group. Compared with the conventional group, the navigation template group had the advantages of more accurate acetabular degrees, less radiation exposure, and shorter operation time (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the navigation template group achieved a better surgical outcome than the conventional group (McKay, P=0.0293; Severin, P=0.0949). Conclusions. The 3D navigational template for Salter osteotomy of DDH is simple and effective, which could be an alternative approach to improve the Salter osteotomy accuracy and optimize the efficacy.

Abstract Objective. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory disease with a relatively high morbidity and death rate. This study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effect of baicalin (BA) on inflammation in COPD rats and its possible mechanism. Methods. The experimental COPD of SD rats were induced by LPS, smoking, and cold stimulation, and they were randomly divided into the control group, COPD group, COPD + LB group, COPD + MB group, and COPD + HB group. The test of pulmonary function and the HE staining were carried out in COPD rats. The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-8, as well as GSH, SOD, and MDA in serum, were detected by ELISA. The levels of TLR2, MYD88, TNF-α, and IL-1β mRNA in BALF were detected by qPCR. The expression of TLR2/MYD88/NF-κBp65 pathway-related proteins was also detected by the Western blot and immunohistochemistry assays. Results. Compared to the COPD model group, BA treatment significantly improved the pulmonary function and pathologic changes, reduced the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IL-8, and MDA, and increased the levels of IL-10, SOD, and GSH in COPD rats. In addition, BA could also decrease the protein levels of MYD88, p–NF–κBp65/NF-κBp65, TLR2, and TLR4 but increase the protein level of p-IκBa/IκB in lung tissue of COPD rats. Conclusion. BA ameliorated inflammatory response and oxidative stress in COPD rats by regulating the TLR2/MYD88/NF-κBp65 signaling pathway.

Abstract The Environmental Cooperation System (ECS) is a new exploration of the government's spatial environmental policy to meet the requirements of green and sustainable development, so it is very important to scientifically evaluate its green innovation effect. Based on China's A-share listed companies from 2006 to 2021, from the perspective of corporate ESG performance, we apply the multi-dimensional fixed-effects difference-in-differences (DID) model, and empirically test the impact, mechanism, and heterogeneity of the Environmental Cooperation System of Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou Metropolis (ECS-SDHM) on corporate green innovation. It found that ECS-SDHM can significantly improve corporate green innovation, and the policy effect is more significant in the private enterprise group. Secondly, we use ESG rating score and decomposition indicators to deeply analyze the green innovation effect mechanism of ECS-SDHM from the perspective of ESG performance. The results show that ECS-SDHM can enhance corporate green innovation by significantly improving corporate ESG performance, environmental governance, and social governance. Further research found that both corporate environmental social responsibility and executives' overseas backgrounds can positively moderate the green innovation effect of ECS-SDHM by positively moderating the ESG performance mechanism.
