Abstract We investigated various methods for image segmentation and image processing for the segmentation of MRI of human medical data, as well as bioinformatics for the segmentation of brain cell details, in this work. The goal is to demonstrate and bring various mathematical analyses for medical and biological image analysis. We proposed new software and methods for improving the segmentation of biological and medical data. This way, we can find new ways to improve the diagnostic process in medical data and improve results in cell and iron diagnostics. We present the GrabCut algorithm as well as new, improved software for this part, a fuzzy approach and fuzzy processing of tissues, and finally machine‑learning techniques with neural networks. We implemented the new software in the C++ programming language for the Grab cut algorithm. Consequently, we present a fuzzy approach to the diagnosis of image data in Matlab. Finally, a deep learning-based approach is used, with a U-Net-based segmentation architecture proposed to measure the various brain cell parameters. We will be able to proceed with data that we were unable to proceed when using other methods. As a result, we improved biological and medical data segmentation to obtain better boundaries and sharper edges on the objects. There is still space to extend these methods to other medical and biological applications (Tab. 1, Fig. 34, Ref. 46). Keywords: segmentation; image processing; fuzzy segmentation, GrabCut, deep learning.

Abstract Background: Internal derangement of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a chronic disease which causes a considerable amount of pain and reduced chewing ability and thus compromising patients eating ability and lifestyle. Aims: This study was carried out to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of enzymes like trypsin, rutoside, bromelain, and diclofenac combination against the use of diclofenac alone in the treatment of internal derangement (ID) of TMJ. Settings and Design: This study was done in the OPD of Oral Medicine and Radiology department at dental institute and is a randomized case-controlled clinical trial. Methods and Materials: 30 subjects were enrolled in the study by simple random sampling and were diagnosed clinically as ID and radiographically screened. They were divided into 2 groups of 15 each. Group I was given oral diclofenac sodium and group II was given an oral combination of trypsin, rutoside, bromelain, and diclofenac sodium for a span of 14 days. Statistical Analysis: It was done by comparing the mean, median, and standard deviation of each variable. Comparative analysis was done using the Mann–Whitney U test, Friedman's test, Chi-square test, Student's t-test, and ANOVA to find the P- value and confidence interval. Results: Both the groups had reduced pain, improved chewing ability and mouth opening, and reduction in joint noise and jerky mandibular movements. Group I, patients had better results when compared to group I and the differences were highly significant. Conclusion: We recommend the use of a combination of enzymes and diclofenac for the management of ID of TMJ.

Abstract Pranic agriculture is a newly emerging concept of sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture. Pranic agriculture techniques are applied to plants before sowing and at the time of plant development to improve growth and yield. The present study aimed to understand the influence of pranic agriculture on growth, yield, and genetic polymorphism of ridge gourd. An increase in root length by 38%, stem girth by 8%, and the number of days taken for the premier harvest was advanced and found to be significant (p<.05) in pranic treated plots against the control. Chlorophyll content was 26% higher (p<.05) in pranic treated plants when compared to control. To find out the probable effects of pranic agriculture at molecular levels, RAPD marker analysis was carried out and average polymorphism up to 47% was observed between pranic and control treatments. Thus, pranic treatment was found to be very effective in increasing the overall growth and yield of ridge gourd. Further, in-depth studies are warranted about molecular mechanisms that are bringing changes in the plants after pranic treatment.

Abstract Hiding Capacity plays a vital role for efficient covert communication. This is achieved bySteganography. Steganography is the science ofhiding the information into the other information so thatthe hidden information appears to be nothing to the human eyes. There are many ways to hide informationinside an image, audio/video, document etc. But Image Steganography has its own advantages and is mostpopular among the others. This paper gives a review of various methods such as image domain andtransformation domain algorithms available for implementing Image Steganography. In this paper, a high-capacity Image Steganography schemes are discussed for different file formats. Covert communication istaking place by encrypting the password for information to be protected. The intended receiver will decryptthe information using that password.

Abstract The study aimed to evaluate the effect of metformin and the combined activity of P. daemia and metformin in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) induced rats. Female albino wistar rats (150- 180 g) were injected with Testosterone propionate (TP) for the development PCOS. The PCOS induced rats were divided into two groups, one were treated with metformin and the other were treated with the combination of metformin and Pergularia daemia extract over a period of 15 days. The vaginal smear and histological studies proved the combined efficacy of metformin and the P. daemia extract by restoring the estrous cycle and re-establishment of the ovarian morphology. The biochemical and hormonal assays also confirms the same. Thus we conclude that the combined activity of metfromin and P. daemia extract is an effective medicine in treating PCOS than metformin alone.

Abstract Background: Diabetes insipidus is a disease characterized by high amounts of urine excretion. Antidiuretic drugs are used to treat this condition. Hence, our study intends to evaluate the anti-diuretic effect of fluvoxamine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in albino rats. Methods: Albino rats were divided into three groups of six animals each. The control group was fed with distilled water 10 ml/kg body weight, standard group received 4 units of vasopressin and test group received fluvoxamine 18 mg/kg body weight. On the day of experiment, diuresis was induced in all the groups by giving frusemide in a dose of 20 mg/kg body weight after loading with saline at 25 ml/kg body weight. The animals were confined in diuretic cage for a period of 5 hrs and urine output was noted. Urine was analyzed for electrolyte concentration (Na+, K+, Cl and #8722;). Results: There was significant reduction in urine output in the test group of animals when compared to the control group. Electrolyte concentration revealed relatively concentrated urine when compared to the control group. Conclusions: Fluvoxamine has a significant anti-diuretic action in the albino rats. Abstract Background: Liver is one of the most common site of metastases in patients with malignancy and the evaluation of space occupying lesions (SOL) of liver in patients with malignancy is important. Its important to differentiate benign from malignant to take necessary decisions. Materials and Methods: We have performed a retrospective analysis of liver SOLs for which fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was done in the year 2011. Risks and benefits associated with FNAC were evaluated. Results: We analyzed 755 patients who underwent FNAC of which 524 patients had secondary metastases to liver, 148 patients had primary hepatocellular carcinoma, 14 cases were benign neoplasms and 53 were nonneoplastic conditions. Histological correlation with FNAC was available in 112 patients. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy were 93%, 90.9%, 98.9%, 58.8%, and 92.8%, respectively. Though there were no incidence of bleeding, two patients developed track metastases following FNAC. One was a case of Hepatocellular carcinoma and the other a case of metastatic breast cancer. Conclusion: FNAC was very much useful in our setup where most of the patients could not afford for Computer tomography (CT) scan and was useful in counseling them especially in patients with advanced malignancy where no active cancer directed therapy is required.

Abstract An experiment was undertaken to identify heterotic rice hybrids for aerobic condition based on physiological and rootcharacters associated with water stress tolerance in rice. Panicle harvest index, a substitute for spikelet fertility is used as asecondary trait in the selection of drought tolerant genotypes. Deep roots are required to explore the soil profile foreffectively absorbing water at deeper layers. A cultivar which partitions more of its dry weight in root can explore more soilvolume for extracting water and thus can effectively sustain drought. Four hybrids viz., IR 68885A / IR 73718-3-1-3-3, IR67684A / CT-6510-24-1- 2, IR 70369A / IR 73718-3-1-3-3 and IR 70372A/ PSBRC 80 exhibited heterotic vigour for yieldand maximum number of yield components and showed better adaptability to aerobic conditions. These hybrids can becommercially exploited under aerobic condition.
