Abstract Background: As a point of departure, this study assumes that teaching to impart knowledge is inseparable from its moral role to create an ethical citizenry, such as developing standards of academic integrity.
Aims: The study aims at delving into how different facets of the sense of (in)justice in the classroom may play a significant role in explaining cheating behaviour, in general, and among low-achieving students, in particular.
Sample and methods: The study was conducted among 5,084 eighth and ninth graders Israeli students. CFA and a structural modelling equations method were used to examine the study's factorial constructs and model, respectively.
Results: Findings pointed to a good fit of the measurement model using SEM. In accordance with the mediating hypothesis, self-reported academic achievement was negatively related to self-reported academic cheating. Moreover, perceived 'school injustice' (procedural and distributive justice as estimates) played a mediating role in explaining the relation between academic performance and cheating behaviour. It is noteworthy, however, that the facet of the personality-like construct of justice sensitivity displayed inconsistent findings and no mediating effect when examined as a separate model.
Conclusions: Self-reported academic performance and academic cheating among middle school' students were explained more strongly by contextual justice-related factors, namely perceived teachers' distributional and procedural practices in the classroom, than by justice sensitivity, which is a personality factor. Thus, teachers' justice practices seem to be crucial for developing a predisposition to academic honesty.

Abstract Introduction: Elective stoma closure (ESC) is a common procedure. The main complication of ESC is anastomotic leakage, which can be revealed by peritonitis or an enterocutaneous fistula (ECF). The objective of the present study was to describe the natural history of AL after ESC.
Patients and methods: Between January 2015 and March 2020, all patients having undergone AL after loop or double-barreled ESC were included in a retrospective, single-center study. The rate of ECF and peritonitis at presentation, the success rate of a conservative treatment and the factors associated with the success of healing of ECF were evaluated.
Results: From January 2015 to March 2020, 619 patients underwent a loop or double-barreled ESC in our department. The AL rate was 6.3% (n=39). The leakage was revealed by an ECF in 72% of cases (n=28). The mean±standard deviation time between the stoma closure and the diagnosis of the AL was 6±4 days. Conservative treatment was successful in 24 (85%) of the 28 patients with ECF, with a mean±SD time to recovery of 6.6±9.4 months. In a univariate analysis, none of the conservative treatments was significantly associated with healing of the ECF.
Conclusion: AL is not rare and is mainly revealed by an ECF. Although the fistula heals in most cases, both the surgeon and the patient must be aware that the time to recovery is long.

Abstract Purpose: Although several types of surgical procedure have been advocated to date, the optimal resection of the left colonic angle in cancer treatment remains controversial. Located at the border of the transverse and descending colons, the anatomy of the left colonic angle is complex and characterized by numerous anatomic variations. Recent advances in preoperative (three-dimensional CT angiography with colonography) and/or intraoperative (indocyanine green staining) imaging have allowed for a better identification of these variations.
Methods: We performed a methodological review of studies assessing the anatomical variations of the left colic artery.
Results: While the left colonic angle is classically vascularized by branches of the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries, an accessory middle colonic artery has been identified from 6 % to 36% of cases, respectively, leading to their classification of five types. In the absence of a left colic artery, this artery becomes predominant. In parallel to the variations in the venous drainage of the left colonic angle, which has been classified into four types, new lymphatic drainage routes have also been identified via this accessory artery and the inferior mesenteric vein.
Conclusions: Collectively, these newly obtained findings plead for preoperative identification in cases of cancer of the left colonic angle and a surgical strategy adapted to these anatomical variations.
