Abstract Background: In recent months, there has been growing interest in the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize various aspects of medicine, including research, education, and clinical practice. ChatGPT represents a leading AI language model, with possible unpredictable effects on the quality of future medical research, including clinical decision-making, medical education, drug development, and better research outcomes.
Aim and methods: In this interview with ChatGPT, we explore the potential impact of AI on future pediatric research. Our discussion covers a range of topics, including the potential positive effects of AI, such as improved clinical decision-making, enhanced medical education, faster drug development, and better research outcomes. We also examine potential negative effects, such as bias and fairness concerns, safety and security issues, overreliance on technology, and ethical considerations.
Conclusions: While AI continues to advance, it is crucial to remain vigilant about the possible risks and limitations of these technologies and to consider the implications of these technologies and their use in the medical field. The development of AI language models represents a significant advancement in the field of artificial intelligence and has the potential to revolutionize daily clinical practice in every branch of medicine, both surgical and clinical. Ethical and social implications must also be considered to ensure that these technologies are used in a responsible and beneficial manner.

Abstract Misinformation harms society by affecting citizens' beliefs and behaviour. Recent research has shown that partisanship and cognitive reflection (i.e. engaging in analytical thinking) play key roles in the acceptance of misinformation. However, the relative importance of these factors remains a topic of ongoing debate. In this registered study, we tested four hypotheses on the relationship between each factor and the belief in statements made by Argentine politicians. Participants (N = 1353) classified fact-checked political statements as true or false, completed a cognitive reflection test, and reported their voting preferences. Using Signal Detection Theory and Bayesian modeling, we found a reliable positive association between political concordance and overall belief in a statement (median = 0.663, CI95 = [0.640, 0.685]), a reliable positive association between cognitive reflection and scepticism (median = 0.039, CI95 = [0.006, 0.072]), a positive but unreliable association between cognitive reflection and truth discernment (median = 0.016, CI95 = [- 0.015, 0.046]) and a negative but unreliable association between cognitive reflection and partisan bias (median = - 0.016, CI95 = [- 0.037, 0.006]). Our results highlight the need to further investigate the relationship between cognitive reflection and partisanship in different contexts and formats. Abstract JEM-EUSO, the Extreme Universe Space Observatory, on-board the Japanese Experiment Module of the ISS (International Space Station), is expected, within this decade, to explore the ultra-high energy (UHE) Universe with unprecedentedly large effective area and uniform exposure. In this paper, we summarize the scientific context of the mission and its scientific requirements. We then report: 1) on the status of the instrument, describing the most recent technical developments; and 2) on the mission aspects of the observatory. In addition, we will present the current programmatic status.

Abstract Context: Environmental soft protons have affected the performance of the X-ray detectors on board Chandra and XMM-Newton, and they pose a threat for future high energy astrophysics missions with larger aperture, such as ATHENA. Aims: We aim at estimating soft proton fluxes at the ATHENA detectors independently of any modelisation of the external fluxes in the space environment. We analysed the background data measured by eROSITA on board SRG, and with the help of simulations we defined a range of values for the potential count-rate of quiet-time soft protons focused through the mirror shells. We used it to derive an estimate of soft proton fluxes at the ATHENA detectors, assuming ATHENA in the same L2-orbit as SRG. Results: The scaling, based on the computed proton transmission yields of the optics and optical/thermal filters of eROSITA and ATHENA, indicates that the soft proton induced WFI and X-IFU backgrounds could be expected close to the requirement. Conclusions: No soft proton fluxes detrimental to the observations have been suffered by eROSITA during its all-sky survey in orbit around L2. Regardless of where ATHENA will be placed (L1 or L2), our analysis suggests that increasing somewhat the thickness of the WFI optical blocking filter, e.g. by 30%, would help to reduce the soft proton flux onto the detector, in case the planned magnetic diverters perform worse than expected due to soft proton neutralisation at the mirror level.
