Abstract The early 20 th ;century warming (ETCW) in the northern;high latitudes;was comparable in magnitude to modern warming, yet occurred at a time when the increase in;atmospheric greenhouse gases;was;several times less;than in recent decades. Understanding the nature of the ETCW is the key to determine the relative contribution of internal variability and external natural and anthropogenic impacts to global and regional climate change. The discrepancy between the observed and simulated by CMIP models temperature variations in the Arctic in the mid-20 th ;century indicates the important role of internal climate variability in the Northern Extratropics.;In the current study a multiple linear regression method is used as a statistical tool to analyze the functional relationships between ETCW and atmospheric and oceanic internal variability indices. The contribution of the NAO, AO, PNA, AMO and PDO indices of natural variability to climate changes in the Arctic region during the 20 th ;century is assessed using observations and reanalyses. The results of the statistical analysis supports the concept of the major role of the North Atlantic sea surface temperatures variability in the Arctic climate change in the mid-20 th ;century period.

Abstract Paleogeographical data give grounds to assert that during the late Quaternary the "Great" Khvalynskaya transgression of the Caspian Sea took place. In the early, maximum transgression stage covering the final deglaciation period (17-13 kyr BP), the sea level was tens meters above the current sea level, and there are significant disagreements in understanding the driving mechanisms of this extraordinary hydrological phenomenon.Earlier, it has been shown (Panin et al., 2005, 2021) that meltwater runoff due to the Scandinavian ice-sheet melting contributed insignificantly to the transgression of the sea. Our study was motivated by the following question: could the Early Khvalynian transgression has been initiated by hydroclimatic factors in the cryoarid climate of the deglaciation period and in the absence of a significant inflow of glacial meltwater? Using a full ocean model INMNIO COMPASS – CICE coupled with the global climate model INMCM4.8, we estimated that the mean river inflow into the sea providing the assigned sea level rise should be as much as 400-450 km 3 /year (equilibrium value). Then, using a hydrological model ECOMAG forced by the paleo-climate data, we found that the estimated extreme water inflow into the sea could be formed due to the spread of post-glacial permafrost underlying the ancient river catchments. As a result of numerical experiments, we answered “yes” on the aforementioned research question and concluded that the hydroclimatic drivers of the Early Khvalynian transgression could be strengthened by permafrost covered the Caspian Sea catchment area after the Scandinavian glacier has retreated.

Abstract Aim      To analyze the dynamics of mortality from arterial hypertension (AH) between 2013 and 2019.Material and methods  Arterial hypertension (AH) is one of the most common diseases. At the same time, there are no unified international criteria for establishing the primary cause of death from AH. Data were studied for the period between the end of the program for modernization of health care and the start of the Federal Project "Program for combatting cardiovascular diseases". Data for 2013-2019 by AH-related codes were provided by the Federal Service of State Statistics on request via the C15 form, "Mortality by gender and one-year age groups". A standardized mortality ratio, its mean value, standard deviation, and a coefficient of variation were determined for each "cause". The standardized mortality ratio was calculated using the European standard. Results In Russia during the studied period, the standardized mortality ratio for the death from AH yearly decreased (1.7 times for 6 years; the standardized mortality ratio decreased 1.15 times). However, only in 7 regions, the standardized mortality ratio yearly decreased while in the other regions of the Russian Federation, the standardized mortality ratio changed wavily. In 17 regions of the Russian Federation, the standardized mortality ratio increased in 2019 compared to 2013, including the 31.7 time increase in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. In the Penza Region and the Republic of Kalmykia in 2018, there were no cases of death related with AH. The highest value of the standardized mortality ratio was observed in the Chukotka Autonomous District in 2019 (85.13 per 100,000 population) and the lowest value was observed in the Penza Region (0.14 per 100,000 population). The ratio of maximal to minimal values of the standardized mortality ratio was 622. The coefficient of variation for regional standardized mortality ratios increased by 42.3 % (from 86.8 to 123.5 %).Conclusion      Although the standardized mortality ratio for death from AH, in general, decreased in the Russian Federation, Russian regions showed variable dynamics and a high variability of the standardized mortality ratio. The study results together with results of international studies showed that differences in standardized mortality ratios for death from AH are largely due to different approaches to determining the primary cause of death. An international consensus on the terminology and criteria for determining the primary cause of death is required.

Abstract Scenario projections of climate changes in the XXI century in Crimea are presented based on the data of an ensemble of models of the recent generation CMIP6 for aggressive SSP585 and moderate SSP245 scenarios of anthropogenic impact. Variations of season-averaged values of temperature and precipitation for winter and summer, the number of days with extreme anomalies of temperature and precipitation, the rate of precipitation, and the contribution of heavy precipitation to the seasonal total are shown. For the current period, the data of the models are compared with reanalysis data ERA5 and interpolated grid observation data CRUTS4.05. On the average over the model ensemble, the summer temperature is expected to increase by ~6 and 2.5°C by the late XXI century according to scenarios SSP585 and SSP245, respectively. The number of days in summer with extremely high temperature (95% percentile of the distribution function for 1981–2010) will increase 5–6 times as soon as the mid-XXI century and will reach ~40 days by the end of the century, even for a moderate scenario. Strong year-to-year variations are typical of seasonal precipitation, at which statistically insignificant increase in winter can be seen in the models, while the summer precipitation is expected to decrease considerably by ~15 and 40% for scenarios SSP585 and SSP245, respectively. At the same time, no statistically significant decrease is expected in the intensity and extremeness of precipitation. In winter, the proportion of extreme precipitation in its total will increase considerably (from 25 to 35%). It should be noted that the changes forecasted for the nearest two decades are practically independent of the analyzed scenarios of anthropogenic impact. The decrease in precipitation at an increase in the temperature demonstrates the important role of atmospheric dynamics in the future changes in the characteristics of precipitation in the region under study.

Abstract The standardized mortality coefficients for different causes have significant variability between regions and depend on many factors. The purpose of study was to investigate interregional variation coefficients of standardized mortality of oncologic diseases as compared with other causes having no explicit diagnosis criteria. The 49 death causes were selected out of 295 causes of the Short nomenclature of the Rosstat. These causes were distributed by 2 groups: neoplasms and causes without explicit diagnostic criteria. The standard mortality indicator was calculated on the basis of the European standard. The significance of differentiations between the groups was estimated using one-factor dispersion analysis by pair comparison and Bonferroni amendment. The level of interregional variation coefficient of the standard mortality indicator from cancer was lower than from other causes with no explicit diagnostic criteria. Even the reasons of death from oncologic diseases which has no explicit criteria have the significantly less marked variation coefficient as compared to other two groups. There were reliable differences of the variation coefficients between the subgroup of oncologic diseases with precise location of tumor and the subgroup of oncologic diseases of other and non-explicit locations. The death causes due to "other diseases" and the death causes due to diseases with no-explicit diagnostic criteria had similarly high level of variation coefficient. The difference of the regional standard mortality indicator of concrete reasons is affected by uncoordinated criteria of diseases diagnostic and the main reason of death determination. The letter of the Minzdrav of Russia concerning the rules of application of notion "senility" as cause of death played certain role also. The different level of morbidity in regions had the influence as well. The harmonization of verification of all the cases of diagnosis, its "depth" and applied criteria is needed for proper analysis of data of death from separate causes is needed.

Abstract Novel antimycobacterial compounds are needed to expand the existing toolbox of therapeutic agents, which sometimes fail to be effective. In our study we extracted, filtered, and aggregated the diverse data on antimycobacterial activity of chemical compounds from the ChEMBL database version 24.1. These training sets were used to create the classification and regression models with PASS and GUSAR software. The IOC chemical library consisting of approximately 200,000 chemical compounds was screened using these (Q)SAR models to select novel compounds potentially having antimycobacterial activity. The QikProp tool (Schrödinger) was used to predict ADME properties and find compounds with acceptable ADME profiles. As a result, 20 chemical compounds were selected for further biological evaluation, of which 13 were the Schiff bases of isoniazid. To diversify the set of selected compounds we applied substructure filtering and selected an additional 10 compounds, none of which were Schiff bases of isoniazid. Thirty compounds selected using virtual screening were biologically evaluated in a REMA assay against the

Abstract The article considers the results of analysis of characteristics of morbidity of population residing in various geographic conditions of the Russian Federation. The comparison was applied to morbidity of residents of subjects of the Russian Federation residing approximately at the levels of 50 and 60 of northern longitude according data of 2008-2013. The average annual size of population of the Northern territories amounted to 8,994,112 and in the southern territories 32,600,569. The maximal differences are noted in relation to diseases of respiratory organs and congenital abnormalities of blood circulation system. Actually, indicators of morbidity of diseases of cardiovascular system and ischemic heart diseases had no differences. The rest of analyzed indicators differed on 10-40% towards higher values in the Northern regions. The exception included cerebrovascular diseases with morbidity higher in southern territories up to 11% than in northern territories.

Abstract Mixed ionic-electronic conducting materials are not used as a single-layer electrolyte of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) at relatively high operating temperatures of ~800 °C. This is because of a significant decrease in the open-circuit voltage (OCV) and, consequently, the SOFC power density. The paper presents a comparative analysis of the anode-supported SOFC properties obtained within the temperature range of 600 to 800 °C with yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte and gadolinium-doped ceria (GDC) electrolyte thin films. Electrolyte layers that are 3 µm thick are obtained by magnetron sputtering. It is shown that at 800 °C, the SOFC with the GDC electrolyte thin film provides an OCV over 0.9 V and power density of 2 W/cm
