Abstract Background: Perinatal loss can occur due to miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies, among other circumstances. Psychological health of parents can deteriorate due to perinatal loss. Parent's negative psychological outcomes include depression, anxiety, and grief.
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions in reducing depression, anxiety, and grief among parents after perinatal loss.
Design: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials DATA SOURCES: English language articles published from database inception to 19 November 2019 were systematically retrieved from eight electronic databases (CINAHL, Cochrane, EMBASE, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science).
Review methods: The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to conduct quality appraisal of each individual article and data was analyzed using Review Manager 5.3. A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials was conducted using a random-effect model.
    Results: Among this review's 17 included studies, 15 studies' results were included in the meta-analyses. The remaining two studies were summarized narratively. Meta-analyses revealed that psychosocial interventions significantly reduced depression (95% CI: -0.64 to -0.29, Z = 5.17, p = <0.00001), anxiety (95% CI: -0.50 to -0.18, Z = 4.21, p < 0.0001) and grief (95% CI: -0.71 to -0.32, Z = 5.12, p < 0.0001).
Conclusion: Psychosocial interventions are effective in improving depression, anxiety, and grief amongst parents with perinatal loss. Psychosocial care can be provided by medical healthcare professionals and expanded with technology-assisted implementation.

Abstract Pedestrian trajectory prediction is an essential but challenging task. Social interactions between pedestrians have an immense impact on trajectories. A better way to model social interactions generally achieves a more accurate trajectory prediction. To comprehensively model the interactions between pedestrians, we propose a multilevel dynamic spatiotemporal digraph convolutional network (MDST-DGCN). It consists of three parts: a motion encoder to capture the pedestrians’ specific motion features, a multilevel dynamic spatiotemporal directed graph encoder (MDST-DGEN) to capture the social interaction features of multiple levels and adaptively fuse them, and a motion decoder to produce the future trajectories. Experimental results on public datasets demonstrate that our model achieves state-of-the-art results in both long-term and short-term predictions for both high-density and low-density crowds.

Abstract Background Low muscle mass/sarcopenia has been associated with poor prognosis in many diseases, but its clinical significance in pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between muscle mass and prognosis of patients with PLA. Methods A total of 154 adult patients with PLA hospitalized at Tongji Hospital (Wuhan, Hubei, China) between October 2011 and June 2021 were included in this retrospective analysis. Muscle-fat related indicators were measured by computed tomography (CT) images at the third lumbar vertebra (L3) level. The data of patients between the sarcopenia group and non-sarcopenia group were compared. Multivariate logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses were performed. Results The skeletal muscle index (SMI) was independently associated with adverse outcomes (95% CI [0.649–0.954], P = 0.015) of PLA in multivariate logistic regression analysis. This conclusion held true in sex-specific subgroup analysis. ROC analysis indicated that SMI may predict adverse outcomes in both male (area under the ROC curve [AUC], 0.718; cut-off, 52.59; P < 0.001) and female (AUC, 0.714; cut-off, 38.39; P = 0.017) patient populations. Conclusions Sarcopenia serves as an independent risk factor for poor prognosis in PLA and patients with sarcopenia may be more prone to adverse outcomes.

Abstract Objective: To study the role of hyaluronic acid (HA) in polidocanol (POL) foam.
Methods: The dose-dependent effect of HA-POL on cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) as well as foam stability was evaluated by measuring optical density (OD) values and foam half-life time (FHT), respectively. An in vitro model was utilized for estimating the foam blood-displacement capacity by adopting maximum displacement distance (MDD) and displacement time. A comparison of foam viscosity was also carried out.
Results: The OD values of HUVECs treated with HA first increased and then decreased with the growing dosage of HA while cells treated with HA-POL died. Both FHT and displacement time were prolonged statistically with a gradually enhanced foam viscosity. As to MDD, there were no significant differences.
Conclusions: HA was found to promote HUVECs proliferation slightly, but this was almost negligible when compared to the cell-killing capacity of 1% POL. The viscosity of POL foam was enhanced by HA indicating its positive correlation with both stability and displacement capacity of POL foam.

Abstract PurposeTo assess the ocular surface and meibomian gland (MG) of patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and to explore the effects of surgery for OSAHS on the ocular surface and MG.MethodsBased on the apnea hypopnea index (AHI), 21 patients with mild OSAHS (Group A, 5/h ≤ AHI < 15/h), 20 patients with moderate OSAHS (Group B, 15/h ≤ AHI < 30/h), 62 patients with severe OSAHS (Group C, AHI ≥ 30/h) were examined. The ocular surface and MG were evaluated using Keratograph 5M. In addition, detailed Ophthalmic examination including visual acuity, refraction, slit-lamp examination of the anterior segment, corneal fluorescein staining (CFS), ocular surface disease index (OSDI) scoring, Schirmer I test (SIT) and serum lipid measurement was performed. For OSAHS patients with dry eye syndrome (DES) who underwent uvulopalatopharyngoplasty for improving AHI, the conditions of the ocular surface and MG were compared before surgery and 3 months after surgery. Only the data of the right eyes were analyzed.ResultsThere were no significantly different in the OSDI score, tear meniscus height (TMH), or loss ratio of the lower eyelid (LRLE) among these groups. The first non-invasive tear film breakup time (fNIBUT), average non-invasive tear film breakup time (avNIBUT), bulbar redness index (BRI), lipid layer grading (LLG), CFS, plugged orifices and distortion in MG, the loss ratio of upper eyelid (LRUE), and the incidence of DES, floppy eyelid syndrome (FES) and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) showed significant differences between Groups A and C (p = 0.015, p = 0.018, p < 0.001, p = 0.022, p = 0.036, p = 0.007, p = 0.019, p = 0.017, p = 0.045, p = 0.013, and p = 0.029, respectively). The SIT in the Group A was significantly higher than in Group B (p = 0.025) and in Group C (p < 0.001). In the correlation analyses, the fNIBUT, avNIBUT, SIT and LLG had negative correlations with the AHI (p = 0.013, p = 0.010, p = 0.003, p < 0.001, and p = 0.006, respectively). The BRI, CFS and LRUE were ...

Abstract Background: The optimal treatment strategy for elderly patients with early gastric adenocarcinoma (EGAC) after non-curative endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) remains unclear. The purpose of this research was to explore the effectiveness of additional treatments after ESD and the factors affecting survival in elderly patients (≥60 years of age) with EGAC.Methods: A total of 639 elderly patients (≥60 years) treated with ESD for EGAC from 2006 to 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. Positive lymphatic infiltration, submucosal infiltration, and positive/indeterminate vertical resection margins are considered high risk factors in histology. According to the risk of lymph node metastasis in patients with EAGC and the treatment strategies adopted after ESD, patients were divided into three groups: there were 484 patients in group A with low risk, 121 patients in group B with high risk, without additional treatment, and 36 patients in group C with high risk, with additional treatment. The 5- and 8-year survival rate, as well as the prognostic factors of survival rate after ESD was studied. Results: The median follow-up time was 38, 40, and 49 months, respectively. There were 3, 4, and 3 deaths related to gastric adenocarcinoma in groups A, B, and C, while deaths from other diseases were 20, 5, and 3, respectively. There were significant differences in overall survival rates between groups (94.3; 86.4; 81.2%, p = 0.110), but there was no significant difference in disease-specific survival rates (98.4; 92.7; 92.4%, p = 0.016). In the multivariate analysis, the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) ≥ 2 was an independent risk factor for death after ESD (hazard ratio 2.39; 95% confidence interval 1.20–4.77; p = 0.014).Conclusions: The strategy of ESD with no subsequent additional treatment for EGAC may be a suitable option for elderly patients at high risk, especially for CCI ≥ 2.
