Abstract Background: The study aimed to review recent literature not included in previous reviews and ascertain the correlation between early marijuana use among adolescents, between 12 and 18 years of age, and the development of schizophrenia in early adulthood. A further aim was to determine if the frequency of use of marijuana demonstrated any significant effect on the risk of developing schizophrenia in early adulthood.
Methods: Five hundred and ninety-one studies were examined; six longitudinal cohort studies were analyzed using a series of nonparametric tests and meta-analysis.
Results: Nonparametric tests, Friedman tests, and Wilcoxon signed tests showed a highly statistically significant difference in odds ratios for schizophrenia between both high- and low-cannabis users and no-cannabis users.
Conclusion: Both high- and low-frequency marijuana usage were associated with a significantly increased risk of schizophrenia. The frequency of use among high- and low-frequency users is similar in both, demonstrating statistically significant increased risk in developing schizophrenia.

Abstract Occupational exposure to cotton dust is still an important cause of respiratory problems in textile workers particularly in less developed countries like Egypt. Evaluate respiratory symptoms and diseases, and pulmonary function pattern among Egyptian textile workers. Cross sectional comparative study was conducted from December 2019 to September 2020 in a textile factory in Egypt; 364 male workers (184 cotton dust exposed workers, and 180 unexposed workers) were included. Participants were subjected to an interviewing questionnaire, British Medical Research Council questionnaire, anthropometric measurements, pulmonary function tests, and byssinosis grading format. Descriptive and analytic statistics were conducted. Chronic cough, phlegm production, and shortness of breath grade I, II and III were more reported in cotton dust exposed workers than unexposed workers (P#x003C;0.01, P#x003C;0.01, and P=0.02, respectively). Prevalence of chronic bronchitis was significantly higher among cotton dust exposed workers (12%) than unexposed workers (3.9%) (P#x003C;0.01). The mean percent predicted values of lung function indices reflecting large-1irway function (VC, FVC, FEV

Abstract Introduction: Rectal atresia is a rare subtype of anorectal malformations in which the patients are born with a normal anal canal but have complete atresia located few centimeters proximal to the dentate line. We present the transanal end-to-end rectoanal anastomosis as a surgical technique for the management of these patients, highlight the outcomes, and emphasize on some clinical tips.
Methods: Four patients were diagnosed as having rectal atresia on clinical and radiological basis. All of them underwent single loop low sigmoid colostomy in the first 24 h. After 6 months, transanal end-to-end rectoanal anastomosis was performed followed by closure of the stoma 3 months later.
Results: The 2 cases that are older than 3 years demonstrated normal continence and are clean between bowel movements, while the other two showed good anal tone and passing stools between 1-3 times daily, being dry in between.
Conclusion: Transanal recto-anal anastomosis allows a safer route of anatomical reconstruction of the anorectum, therefore avoiding the potential complications associated with the other more invasive approaches.

Abstract Background: One of the most dangerous gynecological emergencies is ovarian ischemia that commonly occurs during surgical manipulation or presence of ovarian masses.
Objectives: finding new therapies to prevent the associated harmful effects of ischemia/reperfusion-induced damage is still a critical need. For the first time, we aimed to evaluate the possible role of phosphodiesterase (PDE) 3 A inhibitor (PDEI), cilostazol (CLZ) in the treatment of ovarian ischemia reperfusion induced damage (OIR).
Methods: Rats were divided into five groups; sham, OIR group; CLZ (5, 10, 20 mg/kg) was given orally with induced OIR. Different biochemical parameters were detected such as total anti-oxidant capacity (TAC), reduced glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA), cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), sirtuin1 (SIRT1), toll like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor kappa b (NF-κB) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα). In addition, histopathological features, ovarian weight changes and casapse3 immunoexpression were detected.
Results: Data revealed significant increase in ovarian weight changes, MDA, TLR4, TNFα, NF-κB and caspase 3 expressions in OIR induced group. Moreover, OIR group had histopathological features of ovarian damage with depletion of cAMP, SIRT1, TAC and GSH.
Conclusion: CLZ could ameliorate OIR-induced damage due to PDE inhibition, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties with modulation of TLR4/NF-κB/TNFα and cAMP/SIRT1 signaling pathways.

Abstract Background and objective: The optimal treatment protocol of intraabdominal testis is still a matter of debate and until now there are a lot of areas of controversy as regards this challenging subtype. The aim of this report is to document current practice patterns among surgeons from different continents through an online Redcap survey supervised the World Federation of the Association of Pediatric Surgeons (WOFAPS).
Methods: A 16-question-survey related to the management of intraabdominal testis was created and administered
Results: There were 436 WOFAPS members who participated in this study with a response rate of 29%, and the vast majority were pediatric surgeons. Only 13% tried to use hormone therapy aiming to induce testicular descent or to improve future fertility. The choices of various surgical techniques were noted. During laparoscopy, if vessels and cord structure were seen entering the ipsilateral internal inguinal ring, most respondents chose to explore the groin. On the other hand, should there was an absent or atrophic testis, the respondents were split on whether to perform a contralateral orchiopexy.
Conclusion: This survey describes the current practices of a sample of pediatric surgeons and urologists in the management of intraabdominal testis. The use of hormonal treatment, timing of fixation and management in case of passing through vas and vessels through DIR were undisputable. However, management of low-lying and peeing testis together with the management of contralateral testis were still debatable.

Abstract Background: Social media platforms are popular places for discussing difficult cases amongst the surgeons. Paediatric Surgeon's Lounge (PSL) is a closed Facebook group for the interaction of paediatric surgeons from different parts of the world. We aim to assess the safety and utility of the responses given by the members of the PSL group to the queries about the management of paediatric surgical cases.
Methods: All posts on PSL between January and July 2021 were retrospectively screened to select the patient management-related queries. For each included query, all the responses were scrutinised for their utility and safety. The utility was categorised as helpful or not helpful, and the safety of these responses was categorised as safe or unsafe. A note was also made whether any unsafe response was rectified in the subsequent responses or not. The proportion of each response category was calculated.
Results: Twenty-two queries with a total of 353 responses were assessed. The median (range) number of responses per query was 10 (2-45). The proportion of helpful, safe and rectified unsafe responses was 91.5% (307/353), 96.8% (342/353) and 36% (4/11), respectively.
Conclusions: PSL is a safe and helpful platform for taking advice regarding the management of paediatric surgical cases.

Abstract Novel view synthesis is a long-standing problem that revolves around rendering frames of scenes from novel camera viewpoints. Volumetric approaches provide a solution for modeling occlusions through the explicit 3D representation of the camera frustum. Multi-plane Images (MPI) are volumetric methods that represent the scene using front-parallel planes at distinct depths but suffer from depth discretization leading to a 2.D scene representation. Another line of approach relies on implicit 3D scene representations. Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) utilize neural networks for encapsulating the continuous 3D scene structure within the network weights achieving photorealistic synthesis results, however, methods are constrained to per-scene optimization settings which are inefficient in practice. Multi-plane Neural Radiance Fields (MINE) open the door for combining implicit and explicit scene representations. It enables continuous 3D scene representations, especially in the depth dimension, while utilizing the input image features to avoid per-scene optimization. The main drawback of the current literature work in this domain is being constrained to single-view input, limiting the synthesis ability to narrow viewpoint ranges. In this work, we thoroughly examine the performance, generalization, and efficiency of single-view multi-plane neural radiance fields. In addition, we propose a new multiplane NeRF architecture that accepts multiple views to improve the synthesis results and expand the viewing range. Features from the input source frames are effectively fused through a proposed attention-aware fusion module to highlight important information from different viewpoints. Experiments show the effectiveness of attention-based fusion and the promising outcomes of our proposed method when compared to multi-view NeRF and MPI techniques.
