    Abstract After the cancellation of the temporary corn storage system in 2016, the price of corn in China returned to market regulation, resulting in increased price volatility. This study focuses on monthly data from April 2016 to March 2023 in China. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is employed to analyze the impact of corn supply and demand factors, substitute prices, monetary supply, international corn prices, and international energy prices on the volatility of corn prices in China. Results indicate that supply and demand factors are the most direct influencers of corn prices, with demand factors having the most significant impact. Monetary supply and substitute prices affect corn prices through the demand side. External factors mainly consist of international energy and corn prices. The impact of international energy on Chinese corn prices is achieved through international corn prices, which directly influence the prices in China. It is recommended to stabilize corn market prices by regulating corn supply and demand, to improve the monitoring and early warning mechanisms for international energy and corn prices, and to implement measures for prudent regulation of monetary supply.

    Abstract In China, a new round of college English teaching reform is being conducted in the way of integrating MOOC-based teaching mode. However, the effect is not ideal because lack of optimal strategies. In order to improve the efficiency, this article analyzed the teaching and learning strategies of using MOOC in college English teaching reform from the perspective of game theory. Teachers and students were set as the two sides of “teaching and learning” game. Potential game contradictions have been analyzed. As a result, many appropriate and imaginative strategies have been devised to achieve a “win-win” situation for teachers and students and maximize the efficiency of the teaching reform.

    Abstract ObjectiveTo evaluate the current screening methods for the students who were in close contact with tuberculosis patients, that could accurately identify the preventive treatment subjects, and to improve the tuberculosis prevention and control in Shanghai schools.MethodsThe freshman/sophomore who were in close contact with active tuberculosis patients in the colleges in 2019 were recruited. All the subjects underwent both tuberculin skin test (TST) and QuantiFERON-TB gold in-tube (QFT) test at the enrollment. After signed the informed consent, all of the participants filled in a questionnaire and determined their baseline tuberculosis infection status. They were followed up for 2 years to monitor the conversion of infection status and the incidence of tuberculosis.ResultsFour of 9 (44.4%) positive participants had conversion to negative results, and 5 of 300 (1.7%) negative participants had conversion to positive during the 2-year follow-up, one of which was diagnosed with active tuberculosis. We assessed diagnostic agreement between QFT and TST at different cut-off values. The highest coincidence rate was 94.0% when choosing 15 mm as the cut-off value, with Kappa coefficient of 0.45 (95%CI: 0.32‒0.59).ConclusionAlthough stricter than the national work requirements, the prevention and control of tuberculosis in Shanghai schools still need to be carried out meticulously. It's necessary to strengthen daily prevention and control measures, and improve the ability of management.

    Abstract Screening and preventive treatment for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) are important measures to reduce the incidence of active tuberculosis (TB) and its global burden. This paper discusses the current status of LTBI prevalence and preventive treatment, risk of incidence in high-risk groups, screening methods, and other interventions, emphasizing the importance of prevention and control as early as possible in a scientific strategy, so as to lay a solid foundation for eliminating TB by 2030.

    Abstract Background: Fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 2 (EFEMP2) has been reported to be related to the progression of various cancers. We have previously reported that EFEMP2 was highly expressed in ovarian cancer and was strongly associated with poor prognosis in patients. This study intends to further explore its interacting proteins and possible downstream signaling pathways.
    Method: The expression of EFEMP2 was detected by RT-qPCR, ICC and western blot in 4 kinds of ovarian cancer cells with different migration and invasion ability. Cell models with strong or weak EFEMP2 expression were constructed by lentivirus transfection. The effects of the down-regulation and up-regulation of EFEMP2 on the biological behavior of ovarian cancer cells were studied through in-vitro and in-vivo functional tests. The phosphorylation pathway profiling array and KEGG database analyses identified the downstream EGFR/ERK1/2/c-Jun signaling pathway and the programmed death-1 (PD-L1) pathway enrichment. Additionally, the protein interaction between EFEMP2 and EGFR was detected by immunoprecipitation.
    Result: EFEMP2 was positively correlated with the invasion ability of ovarian cancer cells, its down-regulation inhibited the migrative, invasive and cloning capacity of cancer cells in vitro and suppressed the tumor proliferation and intraperitoneal diffusion in vivo, while its up-regulation did the opposite. Moreover, EFEMP2 could bind to EGFR to induce PD-L1 regulation in ovarian cancer, which was caused by the activation of EGFR/ERK1/2/c-Jun signaling. Similar to EFEMP2, PD-L1 was also highly expressed in aggressive cells and had the ability to promote the invasion and metastasis of ovarian cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo, and PD-L1 upregulation was partly caused by EFEMP2 activation. Afatinib combined with trametinib had an obvious effect of inhibiting the intraperitoneal diffusion of ovarian cancer cells, especially in the group with low expression of EFEMP2, while overexpression of PD-L1 could reverse this phenomenon.
    Conclusion: EFEMP2 could bind to EGFR to activate ERK1/2/c-Jun pathway and regulate PD-L1 expression, furthermore PD-L1 was extremely essential for EFEMP2 to promote ovarian cancer cells invasion and dissemination in vitro and in vivo. Targeted therapy against the source gene EFEMP2 is our future research direction, which may better inhibit the invasion and metastasis of ovarian cancer cells.

    Abstract The Subtropical Front (STF) plays a key role in the ecology of Chilean jack mackerel Trachurus murphyi. Nonetheless, there are few remote sensing studies of the STF in the open Southeast Pacific, and almost all of them have been conducted by satellite oceanographers in Russia and Ukraine to support respective large-scale fisheries of jack mackerel in this region. We reviewed these studies that documented long-term seasonal and interannual variability of the STF from sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface height (SSH) data. We also mapped the STF from satellite sea surface salinity (SSS) data of the SMOS mission (2012–2019). The Subtropical Front consists of two fronts–North and South STF about 500 km apart–that border the Subtropical Frontal Zone (STFZ) in-between. The STF is density-compensated, with spatially divergent manifestations in temperature and salinity. In the temperature field, the STF extends in the WNW to ESE direction in the Southeast Pacific. In the salinity field, the STFZ appears as a broad frontal zone, extending zonally across the entire South Pacific. Three major types of satellite data-SST, SSH, and SSS-can be used to locate the STF. The SSH data is most advantageous with regard to the jack mackerel fisheries, owing to the all-weather capability of satellite altimetry and the radical improvement of the spatial resolution of SSH data in the near future. Despite the dearth of dedicated in situ studies of the South Pacific STFZ, there is a broad consensus regarding the STFZ being the principal spawning and nursing ground of T. murphyi and a migration corridor between Chile and New Zealand. Major data/knowledge gaps are identified, and key next steps are proposed to mitigate the data/knowledge gaps and inform fisheries management.

    Abstract Dissolvable hydrogels have shown great potentials in removing the exudes and alleviating pain during wound dressing replacement. Herein, a series of carbon dots (CDs) composing high complexation ability with Cu²⁺ were prepared for capturing Cu²⁺ from Cu²⁺-alginate hydrogels. CDs were prepared using biocompatible lysine as the main starting material, while ethylenediamine was chosen as the other starting material for its extremely high complexation ability with Cu²⁺. The complexation ability increased with the increasing amount of ethylenediamine, while the cell viability decreased. When the mass ratio of ethylenediamine to lysine in CDs was above 1/4, six-coordinate copper centers could be formed. CD₁/₄ at the concentration of 90 mg/mL could dissolve Cu²⁺-alginate hydrogels within 16 min, which was about twice faster than lysine. In vivo results showed the replaced hydrogels could ameliorate hypoxic conditions, alleviate local inflammatory reactions and promote the healing speed of burn wounds. Thus, the above results suggested the competitive complexation of CDs with Cu²⁺ could effectively dissolve Cu²⁺-alginate hydrogels, which have much potential in realizing facile wound dressing replacement.
