Abstract As the first hybrid-constellation global navigation system, China’s BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) has been fully constructed since July 2020 and provides open services for worldwide users. Due to the natural sensitivity of satellite tracking techniques to geocenter motion, BDS has the capability to determine the geocenter coordinates (GCC). This study aims to improve the precision of geocenter coordinates derived from BDS. To that end, 3-year sets of daily geocenter coordinates have been determined with BDS observations. Different solar radiation pressure (SRP) models, including the empirical CODE orbit model (ECOM), the extended ECOM model (ECOM2), and the a priori box-wing along with the ECOM model (BW + ECOM), have been applied for the BDS geocenter estimation. We show that the BW + ECOM model is beneficial in recovering the geocenter motion. Compared to the ECOM, the BW + ECOM model appears to mitigate the draconitic signal of BDS, which reduces the annual amplitude of the GCC-Z by a factor of 2.9. On the other hand, the amplitude of the 3 cpy signal is also reduced by a factor of 2.9. Furthermore, we studied the impact of BDS constellation configuration on the geocenter estimation. The results indicate that the inclusion of IGSO satellites significantly mitigates the spurious signals in the spectra of the GCC-Z. The amplitudes of the annual signal and 3 cpy signal are reduced by (28%, 14%), (33%, 61%), and (31%, 9%) for ECOM, ECOM2, and BW + ECOM cases, respectively. Meanwhile, the amplitude of the 7-day signal related to the orbital period of MEO satellites is also reduced by 32–45%. Thus, the BW + ECOM model and the MEO+IGSO hybrid configuration are recommended for BDS to determine the geocenter coordinates. However, despite these improvements, a significant annual signal with an amplitude of 20.2 mm and a visible 3 cpy signal with an amplitude of 6.1 mm still exist when compared to the Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) solution.

Abstract This paper firstly analyzes the effects of China’s and the U.S. subsidy policies through comparing the developing strategies, specific subsidies and industrial conditions. Then by establishing two three-stage sequential game models, the inherent defects of China’s subsidy are studied. Finally the advantages of the U.S. industrial and trade policy portfolio are analyzed to give policy enlightenment. The result shows: China’s export oriented production subsidies could not maximize social welfare in the short term. It was not conductive to the development of core industrial competitiveness because of the extrusion effect of R&D. What’s more, it tended to provoke quick and excess production capacity which led to a large number of low-priced exports, causing trade conflicts and loss of oversea markets. While the U.S. combined regulatory compliant subsidy and trade remedy. Market subsidy increased the demand and helped industry to expand production scale and lower the cost. R&D subsidy encouraged R&D investment and improved industrial competitiveness. Trade remedy was used to prevent foreign low-priced import shocks and guarantee the effectiveness of the two subsidies. To sum up, China shall change the export-oriented development strategy, develop core competitiveness on technology, eliminate unreasonable subsidies, make good use of market subsidy, R&D subsidy and trade remedy measures.

Abstract This paper summarizes the relevant literatures about the economic effects of interest rate policy and Taylor rules, on the basis of which macroeconomic objectives indicators of China’s and U.S.’s interest rate policies are come up with. Then the macro-economic objectives and effectiveness of their interest rate adjustment policies are studied through Granger causality test and multivariate co-integration regression model. The result shows: Firstly, both of China and U.S. take economic growth, price level and employment level into consideration when adjust the benchmark interest rates. China’s adjustment pays more attention to stable price level and promoting employment level, while U.S.’s adjustment focuses more on stimulating economic growth and promoting employment level. Secondly, compared with China, U.S.’s market-oriented interest rate adjustment mechanism is more effective to reflect and respond to changes in the macroeconomic situations. Thirdly, the effectiveness of U.S.’s adjustment is obviously superior to China’s. U.S.’s benchmark interest rate adjustment can significantly affect the economic growth and employment level, and price level to some extent as well; while China’s effectiveness is confined to price level. Therefore, China should accelerate the interest rate liberalization and learn from U.S. to reform the function mechanism of interest rate policy, so as to enhance the interest rate policy on the sensitivity and effectiveness of macro-economy.

Abstract Machine tools as indispensable tools for manufacturing products are typical high-energy, high-carbon manufacturing systems due to their larger mass, longer life cycles and huge resources and energy consumption. The current research trend of sustainable machine tools aims to reduce cost, energy consumption and increase sustainability without compromising their functionality, usability, productivity, accuracy, etc. However, there is a lack of systematic reviews about what are the key technologies for sustainable machine tools design. Thus, a comprehensive literature review of machine tool design for sustainability is needed in order to make clear how to design and evaluate sustainable machine tools from the viewpoint of life cycle sustainability analysis. The aim of this paper is to review the sustainable design and assessment aspects of machine tool design from partial goals to integrated aims according to whole sustainability dimensions such as the environment, economy and society, as well as involving key techniques in different life cycle stages. Recent research and study on improving directly or indirectly sustainability performance of machine tools according to focus points could be summarized as: design optimization of components such as lightweight using topology and bionic methods; structure design with modular design and layout; reducing cutting fluids and lubricant oil by employing minimum quantity lubrication, dry and cryogenic machining; reducing energy consumption; waste reduction by reusing, remanufacturing and recycling; sustainability assessment i.e., energy model, life cycle cost and life cycle social benefit. This paper assists designers and manufacturers to improve sustainability of machine tools by specific optimization measures in their activities.

Abstract Summary: Background: Probiotics have been increasingly proposed for enhancing immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) treatments against cancer. However, its causal relationship with immunotherapeutic efficacy remains unclear, which promoted us to explore if and how probiotic Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus Probio-M9 manipulates gut microbiome for expected outcomes. Methods: We evaluated the effects of Probio-M9 on the anti-PD-1 treatment against colorectal cancer in mice via a multi-omics approach. We defined the mechanisms of Probio-M9-mediated antitumor immunity by comprehensive analyses of metagenome and metabolites of commensal gut microbes as well as the immunologic factors and serum metabolome of the host. Findings: The results indicated that Probio-M9 intervention strengthened the anti-PD-1-based tumor inhibition. Both prophylactic and therapeutic administration of Probio-M9 showed conspicuous performance in controlling tumor growth with ICB treatment. The supplement of Probio-M9 modulated enhanced immunotherapy response through promoting beneficial microbes (e.g., Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium animalis), producing beneficial metabolites including butyric acids in the gut, and accumulating blood-derived α-ketoglutaric acid, N-acetyl-l-glutamic acid and pyridoxine in particular, which promoted the infiltration and activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and suppressing the function of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Subsequently, we found that enhanced immunotherapeutic response was transmissible by transplanting either post-probiotic-treatment gut microbes or intestinal metabolites to new tumor-bearing mice. Interpretation: This study offered valuable insight into the causal role of Probio-M9 in correcting the defects in gut microbiota that compromised anti-PD-1 therapeutic efficacy, which can be used as an alternative synergetic agent with ICB for clinical cancer treatment. Funding: This research was supported by Research Fund for the National Key R&D Program of China ...

Abstract The process of molecular evolution has many elements that are not yet fully understood. Evolutionary rates are known to vary among protein coding and noncoding DNAs, and most of the observed changes in amino acid or nucleotide sequences are assumed to be non-adaptive by the neutral theory of molecular evolution. However, it remains unclear whether fixed and standing missense changes in slowly evolving proteins are more or less neutral compared to those in fast evolving genes. Here, based on the evolutionary rates as inferred from identity scores between orthologs in human and Rhesus Macaques (Macaca mulatta), we found that the fraction of conservative substitutions between species was significantly higher in their slowly evolving proteins. Similar results were obtained by using four different methods of scoring conservative substitutions, including three that remove the impact of substitution probability, where conservative changes require fewer mutations. We also examined the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) by using the 1000 Genomes Project data and found that missense SNPs in slowly evolving proteins also had a higher fraction of conservative changes, especially for common SNPs, consistent with more non-conservative substitutions and hence stronger natural selection for SNPs, particularly rare ones, in fast evolving proteins. These results suggest that fixed and standing missense variants in slowly evolving proteins are more likely to be neutral.

Abstract Most dynamic stretching protocols include the gastrocnemius muscle, but soleus stretches are often neglected, which is the key powerful muscle for the push-off (concentric) of all speed movements. The purpose of this study was to examine whether the added soleus stretch in a regular stretching protocol would have greater benefits for ankle flexibility, dynamic balance and functional performance. Fourteen healthy male soccer players received each of the stretching conditions (regular stretching only (Regular), regular stretching with soleus stretching (Soleus) and no stretching (Control)) randomly on different training days, with two-day separation. The ankle flexibility, standing heel-lift balance and speed performances were assessed following each stretching intervention. The active dynamic stretches were performed for 30 s with three repetitions on each of the three (Regular) and four (Soleus) muscles. One-way ANOVA with repeated measures (or the Friedman non-parametric test) was performed to determine any significant effect with alpha = 0.05. Our findings revealed that both the Regular and Soleus stretching groups showed an increased active range of ankle motion compared to the no-stretching control ( Ps < 0.05). In the heel raise balance test, both stretching groups experienced a significant increase in maximum plantarflexion strength as well as resultant anterior–posterior and medial–lateral CoP excursions compared to the no-stretching control ( Ps < 0.05). In the sprinting tasks, both the Soleus and Regular stretching groups induced faster linear and curved running times ( Ps < 0.05). When comparing the two stretching groups, Soleus stretching led to better ankle flexibility, maximum plantarflexion strength and curved running time ( Ps < 0.05). Thus, added stretches on the soleus muscles can provide further benefits to speed performances in soccer.

Abstract Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex disorder characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin. The collective effects of genome wide minor alleles of common SNPs, or the minor allele content (MAC) in an individual, have been linked with quantitative variations of complex traits and diseases. Here we studied MAC in T2D using previously published SNP datasets and found higher MAC in cases relative to matched controls. A set of 357 SNPs was found to have the best predictive accuracy in a British population. A weighted risk score calculated by using this set produced an area under the curve (AUC) score of 0.86, which is comparable to risk models built by phenotypic markers. These results identify a novel genetic risk element in T2D susceptibility and provide a potentially useful genetic method to identify individuals with high risk of T2D.
