Abstract We study the nonlinear stability of spiky solutions to a chemotaxis model of consumption type with singular signal-suppressed motility in the half space. We show that, when the no-flux boundary condition for the bacteria density and the nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition for the nutrient are prescribed, this chemotaxis model admits a unique smooth spiky steady state, and it is nonlinearly stable under appropriate perturbations. The challenge of the problem is that there are two types of singularities involved in the model: one is the logarithmic singularity of the sensitive function; and the other is the inverse square singularity of the motility. We employ a Cole-Hopf transformation to relegate the former singularity to a nonlocality that can be resolved by the method of anti-derivative. To deal with the latter singularity, we construct an approximate system that retains a key structure of the original singular system in the local theory, and develop a new strategy, which combines a weighted elliptic estimate and the weighted energy estimate, to establish a priori estimate in the global theory.

Abstract Thin-walled metallic structures produced by the Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing (AM) process are prone to various fabrication defects, which hinder the wider applications of the technique in practice. In-situ inspection and monitoring methodologies are in high demand for improved quality control of printed parts. This paper presents an ultrasonic guided-wave-based method and a prototype that can potentially be used for in-situ inspection of thin-walled structures produced by DED. Lamb waves are excited by a Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) piezoelectric transducer bonded on the DED substrate remotely from the thin wall. The substrate works as a waveguide to transmit the waves which then propagate along the thin wall. A non-contact laser vibrometer is applied to measure the guide wave signals by scanning the surface of the thin wall. The mechanisms of guided wave generation and propagation along the substrate and printed part are theoretically studied. It allows for choosing proper inspection parameters to enhance the measurement sensitivity of guided waves and help interpret the signals for defect detection. Experiments were conducted with DED-produced stainless steel (316L) thin-walled structure. The new method is demonstrated in one example to detect and localize a small defect caused by inconsistent powder delivery of a fabricated thin wall sample, via analysing the B-scan ultrasonic guided wave signals. The new technique provides strong potential for in-situ online monitoring of the DED process.

Abstract Abstract Background The cornual pregnancy is a rare condition of ectopic pregnancies. Invasive hydatidiform mole is a rare form of gestational trophoblastic diseases. Cornual invasive hydatidiform mole is extremely rare. Case presentation A 17-year-old girl presented to the gynecology department with irregular vaginal bleeding. This patient was diagnosed with cornual invasive hydatidiform mole. Mono-chemotherapy was admitted firstly and with poor efficacy. The patient was cured by a combination of chemotherapy and resection of the uterine mass. Conclusion Cases with cornual invasive hydatidiform mole are extremely rare conditions. Unlike common site of invasive hydatidiform mole, mono-chemotherapy may be insufficient for cornual invasive hydatidiform mole. Chemotherapy in combination with other treatments may be needed in this rare condition.

Abstract Tetracycline (TC), widely found in various environments, poses significant risks to ecosystems and human health. While efficient biodegradation removes TC, the mechanisms underlying this process have not been elucidated. This study investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying TC biosorption and transfer within the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) of strain DX-21 and its biodegradation process using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, molecular docking, and multiomics. Under TC stress, DX-21 increased TC biosorption by secreting more extracellular polysaccharides and proteins, particularly the latter, mitigating toxicity. Moreover, specialized transporter proteins with increased binding capacity facilitated TC movement from the EPS to the cell membrane and within the cell. Transcriptomic and untargeted metabolomic analyses revealed that the presence of TC led to the differential expression of 306 genes and significant alterations in 37 metabolites. Notably, genes related to key enzymes, such as electron transport, peroxidase, and oxidoreductase, exhibited significant differential expression. DX-21 combated and degraded TC by regulating metabolism, altering cell membrane permeability, enhancing oxidative defense, and enhancing energy availability. Furthermore, integrative omics analyses indicated that DX-21 degrades TC via various enzymes, reallocating resources from other biosynthetic pathways. These results advance the understanding of the metabolic responses and regulatory mechanisms of DX-21 in response to TC.

Abstract The marketization of interest rate is an inevitable requirement for China’s financial reform and joining the WTO to connect with the international financial market. It is also an important link to improve the marketization degree of China’s financial system. The marketization of interest rate in China is gradually advancing according to its preset mode. In the process of interest rate marketization, an unavoidable problem is that while the interest rate marketization gives the commercial banks the autonomy of capital pricing, the fluctuation of interest rate is more and more frequent. However, due to the fluctuation of interest rate, the loan as the main assets of commercial banks will be prepayed by borrowers, and the time deposit as the main liabilities of commercial banks will be withdrawn by depositors in advance; that is, embedded options are implied in asset liability items, which makes it difficult for commercial banks to accurately calculate the actual interest margin of deposits and loans and manage the interest rate risk. Therefore, it is of great significance to identify and price such embedded option value. On the basis of identifying and decomposing the embedded options in deposit and loan of commercial banks, according to the change characteristics of deposit and loan interest rate of Chinese commercial banks, this paper chooses jump-diffusion interest rate model to describe the change of benchmark interest rate of deposit and loan in China and demonstrates the advantages of this model compared with other models. Based on Monte Carlo simulation technology, the embedded options of five-year fixed deposit and ten-year prepayable loan in China are priced. On this basis, it points out that the real interest margin of commercial bank’s deposit and loan should be the nominal interest margin minus the value of deposit and loan’s embedded options. In the process of interest rate risk management, we should pay attention to the existence of embedded options and carry out effective management.

Abstract In the future, the goal of service robots is to operate in human-centric indoor environments, requiring close cooperation with humans. In order to enable the robot to perform various interactive tasks, it is necessary for robots to perceive and understand environments from a human perspective. Semantic map is an augmented representation of the environment, containing both geometric information and high-level qualitative features. It can help the robot to comprehensively understand the environment and bridge the gap in human-robot interaction. In this paper, we propose a unified semantic mapping system for indoor mobile robots. This system utilizes the techniques of scene classification and object detection to construct semantic representations of indoor environments by fusing the data of a camera and a laser. In order to improve the accuracy of semantic mapping, the temporal-spatial correlation of semantics is leveraged to realize data association of semantic maps. Also, the proposed semantic mapping system is scalable and portable, which can be applied to different indoor scenarios. The proposed system was evaluated with collected datasets captured in indoor environments. Extensive experimental results indicate that the proposed semantic mapping system exhibits great performance in the robustness and accuracy of semantic mapping.

Abstract Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) have been widely applied in various fields. However, in real-world application, because most devices like mobile phones are limited to the storage capacity when processing real-time information, an over-parameterized model always slows down the system speed and is not suitable to be employed. In our proposed temperature control system, the RNN-based control model processes the real-time temperature signals. It is necessary to compress the trained model with acceptable loss of control performance for further implementation in the actual controller when the system resource is limited. Inspired by the layer-wise neuron pruning method, in this paper, we apply the nonlinear reconstruction error (NRE) guided layer-wise weight pruning method on the RNN-based temperature control system. The control system is established based on MATLAB/Simulink. In order to compress the model size to save the memory capacity of temperature controller devices, we first prove the validity of the proposed reference-model (ref-model) guided RNN model for real-time online data processing on an actual temperature object; relative experiments are implemented based on a digital signal processor. On this basis, we then verified the NRE guided layer-wise weight pruning method on the well-trained temperature control model. Compared with the classical pruning method, experiment results indicate that the pruned control model based on NRE guided layer-wise weight pruning can effectively achieve the high accuracy at targeted sparsity of the network.
