Abstract The P2P model encompasses a network of equal peers, whether in hardware or software, operating autonomously without central control, allowing individual peer failure while ensuring high availability. Nevertheless, current P2P technologies primarily focus on hardware-level resilience, often referred to as P2P networks, which do not safeguard against software failures. This paper introduces a pioneering Peer-to-Peer (P2P) software model aimed at enhancing software-level high availability. Diverging from prevalent hardware-centric P2P technologies, this model accentuates the decentralized nature of various software components, or "software peers," which function independently, enabling seamless network entry and exit without relying on central software. The model's collaborative approach cultivates a network topology with multiple autonomous processing paths, ensuring continuous operation through dynamic task allocation in a distributed manner. By surpassing the limitations of traditional redundancy methods, this P2P model provides an adaptive and scalable solution for achieving robust availability. Validation results underscore the model's effectiveness in enhancing the probabilities of successful task processing while ensuring high availability.

Abstract Redundancy represents a strategy for achieving high availability. However, various factors, known as singleness factors, necessitate corresponding redundancy measures. The absence of a systematic approach for identifying these singleness factors and the lack of a quantifiable method to assess system redundancy degrees are notable challenges. In this paper, we initially present methodologies to evaluate system redundancy, specifically quantifying independent redundancy in complex systems. This approach considers the interactions among various factors that influence redundancy, treating different factors as distinct dimensions to comprehensively account for all potential impact factors. Additionally, we propose methodologies to calculate the Independent Redundancy Degree (IRD) when combining or removing system components, offering insights into system resilience during integration or separation. Furthermore, we broaden the scope of known singleness factors by exploring time and space dimensions, aiming to identify additional related singleness factors. This process helps us pinpoint critical system aspects that necessitate redundancy for enhanced fault-tolerance and reliability. The verification results underscore the influence of different dimensions and reveal the significance of addressing weak dimensions for enhancing system reliability.

Abstract We present a generic study on the information-theoretic security of multi-setting device-independent quantum key distribution protocols, i.e., ones that involve more than two measurements (or inputs) for each party to perform, and yield dichotomic results (or outputs). The approach we develop, when applied in protocols with either symmetric or asymmetric Bell experiments, yields nontrivial upper bounds on the secure key rates, along with the detection efficiencies required upon the measuring devices. The results imply that increasing the number of measurements may lower the detection efficiency required by the security criterion. The improvement, however, depends on (i) the choice of multi-setting Bell inequalities chosen to be tested in a protocol, and (ii) either a symmetric or asymmetric Bell experiment is considered. Our results serve as an advance toward the quest for evaluating security and reducing efficiency requirement of applying device-independent quantum key distribution in scenarios without heralding.

Abstract Pylephlebitis, which is a type of septic thrombophlebitis of the portal vein, is a rare and life-threatening complication that commonly occurs following appendicitis. However, nonspecific abdominal complaints and fever can impede the diagnosis of pylephlebitis. Timely use of appropriate antibiotics and anticoagulants is paramount for treating this condition. We present a case of pylephlebitis and septic shock caused by acute nonperforated appendicitis. A 32-year-old man presented with migratory right lower abdominal pain. Blood cultures showed the presence of

Abstract Cross-chain interaction is among different blockchains. When the number of blockchains increases, it is difficult for blockchains to form a single star topology or a fully connected topology. Meanwhile, different from legacy networks, the propagation method is required to keep the data validity. Thus, the blockchain topology and associated propagation methods are two key issues, which should be ensured during the propagation. In this paper, we first propose the confirmation-based propagation method to keep the validity of the cross-chain data. The confirmation method is to seal the cross-chain transaction synchronized from other blockchains. Second, we point out that a valid topology requires blockchains to be strongly connected. With this requirement, we propose several topologies, which match different connection scenarios. The simulation results show that the proposed methods can securely propagate the cross-chain data and the connection way is flexible.

Abstract Purpose: To investigate oral health behaviors of first-grade school children and parents' cognition of oral health in urban and suburban areas of Shanghai, and to analyze and compare the differences between the two areas, so as to provide reference for formulating oral health intervention measures and oral health education.
Methods: A total of 3 312 first-grade school-aged children in Shanghai were included by cluster random sampling method. Relevant data were collected through questionnaire survey of parents' oral health and clinical oral examination of children. Chi-square test was used to compare the differences in oral health behaviors of children and parents' oral health cognition between urban and suburban area with SAS 9.4 software package.
Results: The proportion of children who brush their teeth more than twice a day in urban and suburban areas was 72.55% and 44.26%, and the proportion of children who brushed their teeth with fluoride toothpaste was 53.25% and 44.79%, respectively. Compared with the suburban area, the brushing habits of school-aged children in urban area were better, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). In terms of medical habits, the proportion of children with no dental experience in urban and suburban areas was 26.99% and 44.08%, and the proportion of children with toothache in the past year was lower than that in the last dental visit, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In terms of parents' cognition and attitude towards oral health knowledge, parents in urban areas were more correct than those in suburban areas, with the average correct rate being 82.56% and 70.42%, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
Conclusions: There are regional differences in oral health behaviors of first-grade school children and parents' oral health knowledge between urban and suburban area in Shanghai. It is suggested that relevant government departments should strengthen oral health education and oral health behavior guidance for parents, and strengthen oral health investment in non-central urban areas.

Abstract Owing to the break-out of the COVID-19 pandemic, students have to take more online learning than offline, and large-scale education assessment programs have to be suspended or postponed. How could education assessment adapt to large-scale online learning? How could the effect and safety of online assessment be improved? What role should formative assessment play in student admissions? How could different assessment results be linked? Reflections on and trends of the Chinese experiences are presented in this article. Based on cross-cultural comparison research, measures to be recommended are as follows: reviewing previous theories, improving existing methods continuously, and developing assessment techniques innovatively according to new application scenarios.
