Abstract Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most serious complications in diabetic patients. And m6A modifications mediated by METTL3 are involved multiple biological processes. However, the specific function and mechanism of METTL3 in DN remains unclear. DN model mice were first established with streptozotocin, and WISP1 expression was confirmed by qRT-PCR. Then the influences of WISP1 or/and METTL3 on the proliferation, migration, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and fibrosis-related proteins of high glucose (HG)-induced HK2 cells or HK2 cells were tested through CCK-8, wound healing, and western blot. We first revealed that WISP1 was highly expressed in renal tissues of DN model mice and HG-induced HK2 cells. Functionally, WISP1 or METTL3 silencing could weaken the proliferation, migration, EMT, and fibrosis of HG-treated HK2 cells, and WISP1 or METTL3 overexpression could induce the proliferation, migration, EMT, and fibrosis of HK2 cells. Additionally, METTL3 silencing could decrease WISP1 m6A modification, and silencing of METTL3 also could notably suppress the biological functions of HG-induced HK2 cells by downregulating WISP1. Silencing of METTL3 prevents DN development process by decreasing WISP1 with m6A modification pattern. Therefore, we suggest that METTL3/WISP1 axis might be a novel therapeutic target for DN.

Abstract Purpose: To Investigate the changes of Bolton index, maxillary and mandibular teeth size and teeth size discrepancy (TSD) in the youth and middle- aged and elderly people.
Methods: One hundred ninety-one youth dental plaster casts from malocclusion patients and 63 middle-aged and elderly people with snoring or obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients were selected. 12 teeth size between the upper and lower first molar, width of maxillary lateral incisor, Bolton anterior and overall ratios and teeth size discrepancy were measured and calculated. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 13.0 software package.
Results: There was no significant difference between the 2 groups in Bolton anterior and overall ratios (P<0.05 ).The mean size of the upper lateral tooth in the youth was larger than the middle-aged and elderly people(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in 6 upper or lower anterior teeth size between canine and 12 mandibular teeth size between first molar in 2 groups, but the mean teeth size in the middle-aged and elderly people was smaller. The prevalence of anterior and overall TSD in the youth was 31.4% and 42.4%,while it was 19.05% and 15.9% in the middle-aged and elderly group. There was significant difference(P<0.05) between 2 groups in width of upper lateral incisor, which was 7.46mm in the youth and 7.20 mm in the middle-aged and elderly group. Prevalence of laminal width of upper lateral incisor in patients with teeth size discrepancy was low.
Conclusions: Bolton index does not change by age. Although the teeth size in middle-aged and elderly group are smaller than the youth group, the total reduction is little without clinical significance. The laminal width of upper lateral incisor isn't the main cause for anterior or overall dental size discrepancy. Abstract In this paper, a composite of the Polyelectrolyte/Ferrocenyl-Surfactant Complexes (PFSC) coated on carbon paper (CP) was applied as an electrode material for supercapacitors. The as-prepared composite possessed a specific capacitance as high as 214 F g−1 calculated from discharge curve with a current density of 0.8 A g−1 and this observation was deemed to be because of its ferrocenyl moieties. Furthermore, the specific capacitances calculated from cyclic voltammograms were 145 and 103 F g−1 at the potential scan rates of 20 and 50 mV s−1, which kept at 77.6% and 55.4% of the corresponding value at 10 mV s−1 (187 F g−1). This suggested that the composite possessed a good rate capability as a novel redox active electrode material for pseudo-capacitors. In short, for the first time the composite PFSC/CP was reported as a promising electrode material for efficient supercapacitors.

Abstract Novel symmetrical D–A–D type of BODIPY derivatives (DTPA–BDP) were synthesized successfully. The introduction of chromophoric units makes the molecule absorption wavelengths spanning the ranges of 300–800nm and shifts the emission to 793nm in red and near-infrared region. Bulk heterojunction solar cells with DTPA–BDPs as electron donor and PC₆₁BM as electron acceptor exhibited photovoltaic properties with a power conversion efficiency of 0.77%, an open-circuit voltage of 0.70V.

Abstract Four new unsymmetric platinum(II) bis(aryleneethynylene) derivatives have been designed and synthesized, which showed good light-harvesting capabilities for application as photosensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The absorption, electrochemical, time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT), impedance spectroscopic, and photovoltaic properties of these platinum(II)-based sensitizers have been fully characterized. The optical and TD-DFT studies show that the incorporation of a strongly electron-donating group significantly enhances the absorption abilities of the complexes. The maximum absorption wavelength of these four organometallic dyes can be tuned by various structural modifications of the triphenylamine and/or thiophene electron donor, improving the light absorption range up to 650 nm. The photovoltaic performance of these dyes as photosensitizers in mesoporous TiO(2) solar cells was investigated, and a power conversion efficiency as high as 1.57% was achieved, with an open-circuit voltage of 0.59 V, short-circuit current density of 3.63 mA cm(-2), and fill factor of 0.73 under simulated AM 1.5G solar illumination.

Abstract An extremely high-efficiency solution-processed white organic light-emitting diode (WOLED) is successfully developed by simultaneously using an ideal dendritic host material and a novel efficient orange phosphorescent iridium complex. The optimized device exhibits forward-viewing efficiencies of 70.6 cd A(-1) , 26.0%, and 47.6 lm W(-1) at a luminance of 100 cd m(-2) , respectively, promising the low-cost solution-processed WOLEDs a bright future as the next generation of illumination sources.
