    Abstract Since the industrialization of single-phase nanomaterial-based devices is still challenging, intensive research focus has been given to complex materials consisting of multiple nanoscale entities, including networks and matrices of nanowires, nanotubes, nanoribbons, or other large molecules; among these complex materials, networks of carbon nanotubes are a typical example. Detailed knowledge of the energy sensitivity and band gap of electronic transport in such a material system is difficult to detect, despite its importance in electronic, energetic and sensing applications. Here, we propose a new methodology to obtain these quantities using the measured Seebeck coefficient at a certain temperature but different Fermi levels. We discover that the network consisting of semiconducting (11,10)-carbon nanotubes actually exhibits metallic transport at room temperature. It is also interesting to verify that intrananotube ballistic transport is dominant over diffusive scattering by long-range disorder, as well as the quantum hopping resistance at the contact points. The transport asymmetry ratio between the holes and electrons (1.75) is similar to the value observed in pristine graphene samples (1.50).

    Abstract It is a challenge to extract the energy sensitivity of charge carriers' transport and scattering from experimental data, although a theoretical estimation in which the existing scattering mechanism(s) are preliminarily assumed can be easily done. To tackle this problem, we have developed a method to experimentally determine the energy sensitivities, which can then serve as an important statistical measurement to further understand the collective behaviors of multi-carrier transport systems. This method is validated using a graphene system at different temperatures. Further, we demonstrate the application of this method to other two-dimensional (2D) materials as a guide for future experimental work on the optimization of materials performance for electronic components, Peltier coolers, thermoelectricity generators, thermocouples, thermopiles, electrical converters and other conductivity and/or Seebeck-effect-related sensors.

    Abstract Circadian system coordinates the daily periodicity of physiological and biochemical functions to adapt to environmental changes. Circadian disruption has been identified to increase the risk of cancer and promote cancer progression, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. And further mechanistic understanding of the crosstalk between clock components and cancer is urgent to achieve clinical anticancer benefits from chronochemotherapy. Recent studies discover that several nuclear receptors regulating circadian clock, also play crucial roles in mediating multiple cancer processes. In this review, we aim to summarize the latest developments of clock-related nuclear receptors in cancer biology and dissect mechanistic insights into how nuclear receptors coordinate with circadian clock to regulate tumorigenesis and cancer treatment. A better understanding of circadian clock-related nuclear receptors in cancer could help prevent tumorigenesis and improve anticancer efficacy.

    Abstract Objective: Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) has been shown to effectively decrease both the disability rate and mortality associated with acute ischemic stroke, however, there is also a risk of vascular re-occlusion. Antiplatelet therapy can mitigate this risk. Nevertheless, there are no relevant guidelines recommending whether the administration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and clopidogrel can be performed following thrombolysis. The aim of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis utilizing multiple studies in order to assess the effectiveness and safety of DAPT after IVT in cases of acute mild ischemic stroke (AMIS).
    Methods: A comprehensive search on English literature published was performed on databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane up until September 1, 2023. All cases were ischemic stroke patients who underwent IVT within a 4.5-hour timeframe and had a National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score of ≤5 (or 3) upon admission. The primary efficacy endpoint is the 90-day Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) Score (MRS score 0-1), while the primary safety endpoint encompassed the occurrence of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) and 90-day mortality. The study's secondary objective is the recurrence of any type of stroke (hemorrhagic and ischemic) within a 90-day period. The included studies underwent an evaluation of bias risk using the Newcastle Ottawa scale. Risk ratios (RRs) and CIs were calculated using a random effects model, and the findings and heterogeneity among the included studies were visually presented on a forest plot.     Results: Out of the 1081 studies that were obtained, only 3 met the criteria and were included in the meta-analysis (657 patients in total). The findings indicate that, there was a significant difference in the mRS of 0-1 between single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) with only aspirin or clopidogrel and DAPT with aspirin and clopidogrel ((RR,1.11[95%CI,0.99-1.24];P=0.07;I
    Conclusions: For patients with acute mild ischemic stroke (AMIS), in conjunction with DAPT after IVT can improve the 90-day prognosis, without increasing the risk of intracranial hemorrhage and 90-day mortality. However, it cannot reduce the risk of stroke recurrence.

    Abstract Titanium (Ti) exhibits superior biocompatibility and mechanical properties but is bioinert, while hydroxyapatite (HA) possesses excellent osteogenesis and is widely used for the modification of Ti surface coatings. However, the synthesis of homogeneous and stable HA on metallic materials is still a major challenge. In this study, porous titanium dioxide nanotube arrays were prepared on Ti surface by anodic oxidation, loaded with calcium and phosphorus precursors by negative pressure immersion, and HA coating was formed by in situ crystallization of calcium and phosphorus on the surface by hydrothermal heating. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and bonding strength were conducted to confirm the surface characteristics of each group. The cell proliferation, mineralization degree, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity of MC3T3-E1 cells on samples were calculated and compared in vitro experiments. Cylindrical samples were implanted into rat femurs to evaluate biocompatibility and osteogenesis in vivo. The results showed that HA crystals successfully synthesized in TiO

    Abstract The repetition priming effect generally refers to facilitated responding in instances where the same stimulus or a very similar stimulus repeats after an initial occurrence. Prior studies showed that the repetition priming effect was greater when repetitive stimuli appeared at expected times than when they appeared at less expected times. However, in addition to the expectation for repetition, the expectation for nonrepetitive stimuli may also arise in a sequence, especially after repetitive stimuli continuously appeared several times. This study was designed to further reveal how these two kinds of expectations influence the repetition effect in a sequence. Participants were asked to solve 3, 4 or 5 repetitive tasks followed by a novel task in the experimental group, a situation where the expectations for repetitive events arise in the first three serial positions but that for nonrepetitive events arise in the fourth, fifth and sixth serial positions, or were asked to continuously solve 3-5 repetitive tasks in the control group, a situation where only the expectation for repetitive events appears. The results showed that the repetition effect appeared steadily in the whole sequence for the control group, whereas the repetition effect appeared in the early serial positions but was reduced in the later serial position for the experimental group. The findings revealed the dual influences of temporal expectations on repetition effects in a sequence.

    Abstract Background: Hyponatremia is a common electrolyte disturbance in patients with neurological disease; however, its predictive role for outcome in patients with supratentorial spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) is controversial. This study aims to explore the association between hyponatremia within 7 days after bleeding and 90-day mortality in patients with supratentorial sICH.
    Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted at our institution. Patients with sICH meeting the inclusion criteria were enrolled in this study. Multivariate regression analyses were performed to determine the predictive value of hyponatremia (serum sodium <135 mmol/L) for 90-day mortality and functional outcome. Subgroup analysis was performed based on the degree and duration of hyponatremia and therapeutic strategies. The Spearman correlation test was performed to explore the relationship between hyponatremia severity and duration with variables in a multivariate regression model. Kaplan-Meier curve was depicted to reveal the relationship between hyponatremia and mortality.     Results: A total of 960 patients were enrolled, 19.6% (188) of whom were patients with hyponatremia and 26.0% (250) had 90-day mortality. The incidence of hyponatremia was roughly 2.5 times in non-survivors compared with survivors (34.8% vs. 14.2%). Multivariate regression analysis revealed that hyponatremia was the independent predictor of 90-day mortality (OR 2.763, 95%CI 1.836-4.157) and adverse outcome (OR 3.579, 95%CI 2.332-6.780). Subgroup analysis indicated an increased trend in mortality risk with both duration (more or less than 48 h) and severity of hyponatremia (mild, moderate, and severe) and confirmed the predictive value of hyponatremia for mortality in patients undergoing surgical intervention (external ventricular drainage, craniotomy, and decompressive craniectomy; all

    Abstract Macrophages activation and inflammatory response play crucial roles in intracranial aneurysm (IA) formation and progression. The outcome of ruptured IA is considerably poor, and the mechanisms that trigger IA progression and rupture remain to be clarified, thereby developing effective therapy to prevent subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) become difficult. Recently, climbing evidences have been expanding our understanding of the macrophages relevant IA pathogenesis, such as immune cells population, inflammatory activation, intra-/inter-cellular signaling transductions and drug administration responses. Crosstalk between macrophages disorder, inflammation and cellular signaling transduction aggravates the devastating consequences of IA. Illustrating the pros and cons mechanisms of macrophages in IA progression are expected to achieve more efficient treatment interventions. In this review, we summarized the current advanced knowledge of macrophages activation, infiltration, polarization and inflammatory responses in IA occurrence and development, as well as the most relevant NF-κB, signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) and Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4) regulatory signaling modulation. The understanding of macrophages regulatory mechanisms is important for IA patients' clinical outcomes. Gaining insight into the macrophages regulation potentially contributes to more precise IA interventions and will also greatly facilitate the development of novel medical therapy.
