Abstract Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of a novel and diversified teaching approach on training new nurses in the operating room.
Methods: A comparative observational study with a quasi-experimental design was conducted. We selected 32 new nurses undergoing standardized training in the operating room at Panzhihua Central Hospital between March 2017 and March 2020, along with 29 nurses trained from January 2014 to December 2016, as research participants. These nurses were divided into a study group and a control group. The control group underwent traditional training, while the study group experienced an innovative and diversified training mode over a 3-year period. We conducted a comprehensive comparison of theoretical knowledge, professional competence, operation duration, and medical satisfaction between the two groups.
Results: The study group, exposed to the innovative teaching approach, demonstrated significantly higher scores in both theoretical and practical examinations compared to the control group (P < .05). Moreover, the study group exhibited a notable reduction in the connection time between operating tables, fostering improved coordination. This group also reported enhanced tacit understanding between doctors and nurses. Notably, the study group expressed higher levels of satisfaction. These findings collectively suggest that the implementation of the new diversified teaching mode positively influences the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and collaborative dynamics among nurses and medical professionals in the operating room.
Conclusions: The implementation of the new diversified teaching mode significantly enhances the standardized training of new nurses in the operating room. This approach contributes to their improved clinical performance, offering valuable insights for future training methodologies.

Abstract Objectives: The association between remnant lipoprotein cholesterol (RLP-C) levels and the incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is unclear, especially in non-obese populations.
Setting: We used data from a health assessment database. The assessment was conducted at the Wenzhou Medical Center from January 2010 to December 2014. The patients were divided into low, middle and high RLP-C groups according to tertiles of RLP-C, and baseline metabolic parameters were compared among the three groups. Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox proportional hazards regression were used to evaluate the relationship between RLP-C and NAFLD incidence. Additionally, sex-specific associations between RLP-C and NAFLD were examined.
Participants: 16 173 non-obese participants from the longitudinal healthcare database.
Outcome measure: NAFLD was diagnosed using abdominal ultrasonography and clinical history.
Results: Participants with higher RLP-C levels tended to have higher blood pressure, liver metabolic index and lipid metabolism index than those with middle or low RLP-C (p<0.001). During the 5-year follow-up period, 2322 (14.4%) participants developed NAFLD. Participants with high and middle RLP-C levels were at a higher risk of developing NAFLD, even after adjusting for age, sex, body mass index and main metabolic parameters (HR 1.6, 95% CI 1.3, 1.9, p<0.001; and HR 1.3, 95% CI 1.1, 1.6, p=0.01, respectively). The effect was consistent in subgroups of different ages, systolic blood pressures and alanine aminotransferase levels, except for sex and direct bilirubin (DBIL). These correlations, beyond traditional cardiometabolic risk factors, were stronger in males than females (HR 1.3 (1.1, 1.6) and HR 1.7 (1.4, 2.0), p for interaction 0.014 for females and males, respectively).
Conclusions: In non-obese populations, higher RLP-C levels indicated a worse cardiovascular metabolic index. RLP-C was associated with the incidence of NAFLD, independent of the traditional risk factors of metabolism. This correlation was more substantial in the male and low DBIL subgroups.

Abstract Preeclampsia (PE) is one of the most common hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. It is a dangerous condition with a high mortality rate in mothers and fetuses and is associated with a lack of early diagnosis and effective treatment. While the etiology of the disease is complex and obscure, it is now clear that the placenta is central to disease progression. Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) are possible mediators that regulate placenta-related physiological and pathological processes. Placental mesenchymal stem cells have considerable potential to help us understand the pathogenesis and treatment of pregnancy-related diseases. Here, we investigate the exosomal miRNA profiles of human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells between healthy pregnant women and those with PE. We performed small RNA sequencing to obtain miRNA profiles, and conducted enrichment analysis of the miRNA target genes to identify differentially expressed miRNAs associated with PE. Overall, we detected 1795 miRNAs; among them, 206 were differentially expressed in women with PE, including 35 upregulated and 171 downregulated miRNAs, when compared with healthy pregnant women. Moreover, we identified possible functions and pathways associated with PE, including angiogenesis, cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and the coagulation-fibrinolysis balance. Eventually, we proposed hsa-miR-675-5p, hsa-miR-3614-5p, and hsa-miR-615-5p as potential regulators of the pathogenesis of PE, and constructed a miRNA-target gene network. Our study identifies possible candidate biomarkers for the diagnosis of PE, and introduces a new direction for further understanding the pathogenesis of PE.

Abstract The rapid development of industrialization and urbanization aggravates the tension of human–land relationships, leading to increasingly prominent contradictions and a serious imbalance in the relationship among production–living–ecological space (PLES). The study of county PLES is important for guiding the spatial development and layout optimization of national land as well as promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas. This can be made more accurate, comprehensive, and visualized by using a land transfer matrix, a land use dynamic attitude, and a barycenter migration model. Research results have shown that the spatial type of Changfeng County was dominated by production space and living space from 2000 to 2020. The production space area decreased the most, to 16.3044 km 2 , and the ecological space area increased by 50.175 km 2 , within which the single dynamic attitude was first positive and then negative, with more drastic spatial changes and the fastest expansion rate. The transfer relationship was mainly based on the transfer of production space out and ecological space in; the longest distance and most obvious change was in the center of gravity of ecological space in the first 10 years of the study period, showing a trend toward the southeastern town of Xiatang. In addition, population, the increase in the proportion of tertiary industry structures, and policy regulation are the dominant factors in changes in the PLES in the county. This study provides a basis and support for the rational use of land resources and the balanced and coordinated development of people and land in Changfeng County, which is currently implementing unbalanced development.

Abstract Background: Due to a high burden imposed on public health from malaria disease in Sub-Saharan Africa, the vector control strategy is a significant concern. Despite the implementation of malaria control interventions in Ethiopia, it remains a major public health problem. Moreover, none of the prior researches was conducted in this title specifically. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of vector control interventions on malaria based on panel data of 10 malaria endemic-regions from 2000 to 2018. Methods: A reflexive analysis study based on before-and-after assessment was used to evaluate the impact of vector control interventions on malaria with a difference-in-difference approach, representing Period I for before and Period II for after strategic intervention. The random-effect model was also employed to explore the direct relationship between the study variables. The data exported to Stata version 13.0 for analysis. Results: The study results suggest that the negative relationship between intervention strategy and malaria cases reported in comparison with its counterfactual, showing the increase in malaria cases during Period II comparing to Period I. The study explores a remarkable achievement on the decline in mean malaria-related death in all regions after the implementation of the strategy. Furthermore, a significant relationship between indoor residual spraying, insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and malaria was demonstrated within the strategic periods. Conclusion: Better results achieved in Period I on mean malaria cases. The results of Period II showed a decline in mean malaria related-death, which was encouraging. The study calls for a supplementary strategy to align with the existing program. The study demonstrates the need for extra efforts on the implementation of the programme and progress about malaria.

Abstract This randomized controlled trial examined the impact of a psychoeducational group program on the mental well-being of unit-based nurse leaders, specifically nurse managers and assistant nurse managers. The program was developed around the themes of resilience, insight, self-compassion, and empowerment to fight burnout and enhance purposeful adaptive coping to reduce distress and improve mental wellbeing. The sample included 77 unit-based nurse leaders. Outcomes included post-traumatic growth, resilience, insight, self-compassion, empowerment, perceived stress, burnout, and job satisfaction. Paired samples t-tests and repeated measures ANOVA tests were conducted to compare outcomes at baseline to the follow-up timepoints of endpoint, one-month follow-up, three-month follow-up, and six-month follow-up. The intervention group participants showed significant improvement in post-traumatic growth between baseline and all follow-up timepoints compared to the waitlist control group. Among intervention group participants, there were also significant improvements in self-reflection and insight, self-compassion, psychological empowerment, and compassion satisfaction, as well as significant reductions in perceived stress, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress. This study extends existing evidence that this psychoeducational group program can be an effective intervention for improving and protecting mental wellbeing. Among nurse leaders, it can reduce stress and burnout and improve post-traumatic growth, self-reflection and insight, self-compassion, psychological empowerment, and compassion satisfaction.

Abstract In 1999, the Chinese government implemented a higher education enrollment expansion policy to improve education equality. Now, its positive impact on educational equality is contested. This study attempts to identify the link between city administrative level and tertiary attainment in the context of the policy. Our empirical findings indicate that after implementation of the policy, inequality increased. Students from political and economic centers had more opportunities for tertiary education attainment. This policy has a greater impact on disparities in access to undergraduate education for individuals living in different administrative hierarchies than it does on specialist education.

Abstract This study addresses the gap in the literature regarding the impact of nurses' personal religious and spiritual beliefs on their mental well-being and burnout. A model of the association between these factors was tested based on surveys of 207 nurses located in southeastern USA and analyzed to determine the association between religion/spirituality, mental well-being, and burnout. A path analysis supported a model in which, through its positive impact on mental well-being, religion/spirituality was negatively associated with emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and positively associated with personal accomplishment.

Abstract Clustering is a fundamental and important step in many image processing tasks, such as face recognition and image segmentation. The performance of clustering can be largely enhanced if relevant weak supervision information is appropriately exploited. To achieve this goal, in this paper, we propose the Compound Weakly Supervised Clustering (CSWC) method. Concretely, CSWC incorporates two types of widely available and easily accessed weak supervision information from the label and feature aspects, respectively. To be specific, at the label level, the pairwise constraints are utilized as a kind of typical weak label supervision information. At the feature level, the partial instances collected from multiple perspectives have internal consistency and they are regarded as weak structure supervision information. To achieve a more confident clustering partition, we learn a unified graph with its similarity matrix to incorporate the above two types of weak supervision. On one hand, this similarity matrix is constructed by self-expression across the partial instances collected from multiple perspectives. On the other hand, the pairwise constraints, i.e., must-links and cannot-links, are considered by formulating a regularizer on the similarity matrix. Finally, the clustering results can be directly obtained according to the learned graph, without performing additional clustering techniques. Besides evaluating CSWC on 7 benchmark datasets, we also apply it to the application of face clustering in video data since it has vast application potentiality. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm in both incorporating compound weak supervision and identifying faces in real applications.
