Abstract In light of the COVID-19 pandemic restaurant operators had to close their dining rooms for dine-in service for a number of weeks; however, once they were allowed to re-open concern still existed over safety and socially distancing many operators had to get creative in ensuring guest and worker safety. The current study sought to assess consumer perceptions and preferences regarding different types of dining room setups that were implemented by restaurants around the U.S. during the re-opening phase to ensure proper social distancing amongst guests. A quasi-experimental design was implemented where respondents were shown images of two different dining-room setups and provided responses to questions based on their perceptions and preferences for these socially distant servicescapes. Overall, respondents indicated that partitions between tables were preferred to mannequins being placed at tables. Academic and practical implications are discussed.

Abstract According to management and psychology courses, as well as legions of consultants in organizational psychology, shared vision in dyads, teams and organizations can fill us with hope and inspire new possibilities, or delude us into following false prophets. However, few research studies have empirically examined the impact of shared vision on key organizational outcomes such as leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, organizational citizenship, coaching and organizational change. As a result, the field of organizational psychology has not yet established a causal pattern of whether, if, and how shared vision helps dyads, teams and organizations function more effectively. The lack of empirical work around shared vision is surprising given its long-standing history in the literature. Bennis and Nanus (1982) showed that distinctive leaders managed attention through vision.-

The practitioner literature has long proclaimed that vision is a key to change, while Conger and Kanungo (1998) discussed its link to charismatic leadership. Around the same time, positive psychology appeared in the forms of Appreciative Inquiry (Cooperrider, Sorensen, Whitney, & Yaeger, 2000) and Positive Organizational Scholarship (Cameron, Dutton, & Quinn, 2003). In this context, a shared vision or dream became a legitimate antecedent to sustainable change. But again, empirical measurement has been elusive. More recently, shared vision has been the focus of a number of dissertations and quantitative studies building on Intentional Change Theory (ICT) (Boyatzis, 2008) at dyad, team and organization levels of social systems. These studies are beginning to lay the foundations for a systematic body of empirical knowledge about the role of shared vision in an organizational context.-

For example, we now know that shared vision can activate neural networks that arouse endocrine systems and allow a person to consider the possibilities of a better future (Jack, Boyatzis, Leckie, Passarelli & Khawaja, 2013). Additionally, Boyatzis & Akrivou (2006) have discussed the role of a shared vision as the result of a well-developed set of factors that produce a desired image of the future. Outside of the organizational context, positive visioning has been known to help guide future behavior in sports psychology (Loehr & Schwartz, 2003), medical treatment (Roffe, Schmidt, & Ernst, 2005), musical performance (Meister, Krings, Foltys, Boroojerdi, Muller, Topper, & Thron, 2004), and academic performance (Curry, Snyder, Cook, Ruby, & Rehm, 1997).-

Abstract Eastern Health (EH) is the most populous of four Regional Health Authorities in Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2017, EH realized the potential impact that healthcare innovation could have on improving patient care, its outcomes as well as provincial economic development. This paper describes EH's innovation journey with "vested contracting," a relatively rare approach in Canada, for its procurement of management services for support activities, such as housekeeping, laundry, patient/resident food services, retail food services and portering. Through individual interviews with EH executives, directors and the successful vendor, this paper describes the system changes needed to accommodate "vested contracting," the burden associated with learning and changing the procurement process and lessons learned.

Abstract A54145 factor D (A5D) is a cyclic lipopeptide antibiotic that shares several structural and mechanistic features with the clinically important antibiotic daptomycin, such as their requirement for calcium and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) for activity. Studies by others have suggested that daptomycin's activity is strongly inhibited by lung surfactant while A5D's activity is not. This finding has inspired efforts, albeit unsuccessful, to develop an A5D analogue that is highly active in the presence of lung surfactant and can be used for treating community acquired pneumonia (CAP). Here we demonstrate that A5D, like daptomycin, has a strong preference for the 1,2-diacyl-

Abstract Daptomycin is a clinical antibiotic used to treat serious infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Although there is debate about the action mechanism of daptomycin, it is known that daptomycin requires both calcium and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) to exert its antibacterial effect. Despite the importance and uniqueness of the interaction of daptomycin with PG, very little is known about this interaction or the nascent daptomycin-PG complex. In this work, we establish a structure-activity relationship between daptomycin and PG through the synthesis of PG analogues. In total, nine PGs were synthesized using a divergent approach employing phosphoramidite chemistry. The interaction between daptomycin and these PGs was studied using fluorescence, circular dichroism, and isothermal titration calorimetry. It was determined that daptomycin is highly sensitive to the modification of the headgroup of PG and both hydroxyl groups influence membrane binding, oligomerization, and backbone structure. Methylation of each hydroxyl in the headgroup suggests that the binding pocket envelops both hydroxyl groups. A PG acyl tail chain length of at least 7-8 carbons is required for stoichiometric binding at micromolar peptide concentrations. Daptomycin binds to PG having 8-carbon, linear, unsaturated acyl groups (C8PGs) at the micromolar concentration and interacts with C8PG in essentially the same manner as when the PG is incorporated into a liposome, and thus, preassembly of individual PG moieties is not a prerequisite for binding, structural transition, and oligomerization.
