Abstract Craving is one of the most important symptoms of cocaine use disorder (CUD) since it contributes to the relapse and persistence of such disorder. This systematic review aimed to investigate which brain regions are modulated during cocaine craving. The articles were obtained through searches in the Google Scholar, Regional BVS Portal, PubMed, and Scielo databases. Overall, there was a selection of 36 studies with 1574 individuals, the majority being participants with CUD, whereby about 61.56% were individuals with CUD and 38.44% were controls (mean age = 40.4 years). Besides the methodological points, the neurobiological investigations comprised fMRI (58.34%) and PET (38.89%). The induction of cocaine craving was studied using different methods: exposure to cocaine cues (69.45%), stressful stimuli, food cues, and methylphenidate. Brain activations demonstrated widespread activity across the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes, basal ganglia, diencephalon, brainstem, and the limbic system. In addition to abnormalities in prefrontal cortex activity, abnormalities in various other brain regions' activity contribute to the elucidation of the neurobiology of cocaine craving. Abnormalities in brain activity are justified not only by the dysfunction of dopaminergic pathways but also of the glutamatergic and noradrenergic pathways, and distinct ways of inducing craving demonstrated the involvement of distinct brain circuits and regions.

Abstract Medical students face many challenge in their academic path. The disclosure of their own sexual orientation may be problematic since it impacts negatively on their acceptance in the educational environmental and the course of their career. Mental health issues may also occur among medical students as consequences of their perceived homophobia as well as stigma after the coming out. Research shows that students' attitude to the sexual orientation disclosure may vary across countries and cultures as well as students' homophobic attitudes towards sexual minorities: the latter should be addressed since prejudice might affect the quality of medical care for LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) patients. We suggest that more education and training on LGBT + health issues is needed in the medical students' core-curricula: this would improve the health care of sexual minorities and LGBT + students' acceptance in the academic milieu.

Abstract Psychiatry's practice in Latin America is unique as it comes from the junction of the indigenous cultures and their conceptualization of mental disorders, the European colonizers who brought with them the early modern psychiatric conceptualizations and, later, the Africans who were forced to migrate to the continent as slaves and introduced elements of the African culture. With this background in mind it is easier to understand why Latin America is a multiethnic and multicultural continent. In order to be able to practice in this particular context, Psychiatry should take into account all the aforementioned elements in the design of its educational programmes. Nevertheless, Latin American countries have a tremendous deficit in mental health providers and, as such, are in dire need to strengthen their residency programmes and their recruitment processes in order to be able to meet the needs of the population. This paper sets out to review the current state of psychiatric education in Latin America and describe in more detail the current training programmes available in the region. It also discusses the perceptions of Latin American psychiatric residents regarding their training programmes and presents possible alternatives for the future of training.

Abstract Background: Mood disorders, including unipolar and bipolar depression, are disabling mental conditions and patients' full-functional recovery may be challenging. Hope and Resilience are relevant factors in the framework of personal recovery and it is of interest to explore their association with the severity of depressive illness and other variables, including suicidality.
Methods: in this cross-sectional study, 69 patients affected by unipolar (
Results: patients affected by bipolar depression reported significantly higher level of psychopathological issues (BPRS) as well as higher scores of depressive and anxious symptoms (MADRS and HADS), suicidality (SSI). Also, bipolar depression patients reported lower levels of hope (Synder) and resilience (CD-Risk), with hope and resilience levels positively correlated each other, and inversely correlated to psychopathology and psychopathology, depressive and suicidal symptoms, respectively.
Conclusions: these findings suggested that bipolar depression is characterized by higher clinical severity and lower levels of hope and resilience. Specific psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic interventions should be promoted to increase levels of hope and resilience in mood disorders, especially in bipolar depression.

Abstract In the current diagnostic systems, the International Classification of Diseases-11th rev. (ICD-11) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5th ed. (DSM-5), the evaluation and diagnosis of personality disorder (PD) aim at dimensional examination of the severity of its dysfunction and the stylistic features that accompany it. Since their implementation, or even before, several measures have been developed to assess PD severity and traits in both models. Thus, convergent validity metrics have been reported with various PD measures; however, the convergence of the same constructs included in the measures of these two models remains undefined. The objective of the present review was to examine whether there is a sufficient relationship between PD measures of the ICD-11 and DSM-5 AMPD in the general population. For this meta-analytic review, systematic searches were conducted in Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. We included studies that reported Pearson's
