    Abstract Climate change poses a critical challenge to global health, influencing social and environmental determinants such as housing, air and water quality, and food security. This article explores the profound impact of climate change on health, projecting an additional 250,000 annual deaths from various climate-related diseases between 2030 and 2050. Healthcare systems significantly contribute to global carbon emissions. The concept of the "Green Hospital" is introduced as a paradigm shift in healthcare, focusing on optimizing resource efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. This concept encompasses renewable energy integration, natural lighting, sustainable materials, green roofs, and smart building management systems. Several challenges remain major, such as medical waste management, water conservation, chemical use, pollution, and plastic usage in healthcare settings. Moreover, obstacles to green hospital initiatives should be resolved, including system redundancy, regulatory compliance, operational demands, financial constraints, and cultural resistance.     Abstract The use of exoskeletons in nursing practice has gained attention as a potential solution to address the physical demands and risks associated with the profession. This narrative review examines the effectiveness, usability, and impact of exoskeleton technology on nurses' quality of work life. The review focuses on the reduction of physical strain and fatigue, improved posture and body mechanics, enhanced patient care, usability and acceptance factors, and the broader impact on work life. The effectiveness of exoskeletons in reducing physical strain and fatigue among nurses is supported by evidence showing decreased muscle activation and reduced forces exerted on the body. The usability and acceptance of exoskeletons are critical considerations, including device comfort and fit, ease of use and integration into workflows, user experience and training, compatibility with the work environment, and user feedback for iterative design improvements. The implementation of exoskeletons has the potential to positively impact nurses' work life by reducing work-related injuries, improving physical well-being, enhancing job satisfaction, and promoting psychological and psychosocial benefits. Additionally, the use of exoskeletons can lead to improved patient care outcomes. Challenges and future directions in the field of exoskeleton technology for nurses include cost and accessibility, adaptability to nursing specialties and tasks, long-term durability and maintenance, integration with personal protective equipment, and ethical considerations. Addressing these challenges and considering future research and development efforts are crucial for the successful integration of exoskeleton technology in nursing practice, ultimately improving nurses' quality of work life and patient care delivery.

    Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic showed major impacts, on societies worldwide, challenging healthcare systems, economies, and daily life of people. Geoepidemiology, an emerging field that combines geography and epidemiology, has played a vital role in understanding and combatting the spread of the virus. This interdisciplinary approach has provided insights into the spatial patterns, risk factors, and transmission dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic at different scales, from local communities to global populations. Spatial patterns have revealed variations in incidence rates, with urban-rural divides and regional hotspots playing significant roles. Cross-border transmission has highlighted the importance of travel restrictions and coordinated public health responses. Risk factors such as age, underlying health conditions, socioeconomic factors, occupation, demographics, and behavior have influenced vulnerability and outcomes. Geoepidemiology has also provided insights into the transmissibility and spread of COVID-19, emphasizing the importance of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission, super-spreading events, and the impact of variants. Geoepidemiology should be vital in understanding and responding to evolving new viral challenges of this and future pandemics.

    Abstract Few investigations have been performed between tobacco smoking, alcohol, and arterial stiffness. The purpose of our study was to investigate the association between smoking use and alcohol with arterial stiffness index (ASI) in a middle-age population. Smoking pack-years and cigarettes per day were defined as alcohol consumption in units/day. Sex associations between smoking and alcohol with ASI were estimated using multiple linear regressions. Interactions and synergistic effects were investigating. 98 039 individuals of the UK Biobank cohort were included (45 457 men and 52 582 women). ASI levels were higher in men than in women (9.91 vs. 8.71 m/s, p < .001), and showed higher relationship to smoking tobacco in multiple linear regression models in women than in men (FDR logworth 78.4 vs. 52.7). The findings revealed that ASI was higher among current smokers than never smokers in both sex and after adjustment for all covariates (in men 10.4 vs. 9.6 and in women 9.5 vs. 8.5 m/s, p < .001). Alcohol consumption per day was positively associated with higher levels of ASI in both sex, but with a less relationship (FDR logworth for men = 2.8, for women = 2.5). An interaction was observed between smoking information and alcohol in men but not in women. Synergistic effects were observed by adding smoking information on alcohol consumption models in men and women (p = .029, p < .001, respectively). Smoking and alcohol were associated with higher ASI in both sex but with a higher relationship among women. The findings suggest the importance of considering smoking and alcohol consumption cessation in cardiovascular diseases prevention.

    Abstract The emergence of the monkeypox virus (MPXV) outbreak in 2022 is a worldwide health issue. The rapid increase of monkeypox cases caused the WHO to designate the escalating global monkeypox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on July 23, 2022. The WHO has called on the group currently most affected by the virus, men who have sex with men (MSM), to limit their sexual partners. The diminution in number of sexual partners not only decreases the proportion of infected MSM but could also increases the number of days needed to reach a given infection level among the general population. Several behavioral factors could be associated with high levels of different sexual partners, such as cannabis use and alcohol consumption. Firstly, this review focuses on the association between cannabis and alcohol consumption and the number of sexual partners, and their possible impact on the current MPXV outbreak by impairing the immune responses. Secondly, this review investigated in the UK Biobank cohort the relationship between alcohol and cannabis use and the number of sexual partners. Among the 115,604 participants, 1.8% declared to be MSM, 1.9% to be WSW (women having sex with women), 43.3% men heterosexuals and 53.0% women heterosexuals.     Abstract Introduction: Inconsistent association between tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption and hypertension have been highlighted. The purpose of our study was to investigate the associations between smoking use and alcohol with systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP) and hypertension in a middle-aged population.
    Methods: Smoking status was based on smoking pack-years and cigarettes per day, and alcohol consumption was measured in units/day. Gender associations between smoking and alcohol consumption with BP and hypertension were estimated using multiple linear regressions. Synergistic effects between smoking and alcohol were investigating in both genders.
    Results: A total of 290913 individuals of the UK Biobank population were included (133950 men and 156963 women). Current smoking was significantly associated with lower SBP, DBP and lower hypertension prevalence, in both genders (p<0.001). However, cigarettes per day were associated with higher SBP in men current smokers [B=0.05 (0.02), p<0.001] with higher hypertension (p=0.001) but not with DBP (p=0.205). Similar results were observed in women current smokers [SBP: B=0.10 (0.02), p<0.001; DBP, p=0.217 and hypertension, p=0.019]. The number of smoking pack-years was only associated with higher levels in SBP in men (p=0.047) and in women (p<0.001). In both genders, alcohol consumption was associated with higher SBP, DBP and hypertension (p<0.001). Synergistic effects were observed for alcohol consumption on smoking pack-years and cigarettes per day with SBP and DBP.
    Conclusions: Smoking and alcohol were associated with higher BP in current smokers with synergistic effects. The findings suggest the importance of considering smoking and alcohol consumption in BP control in addition to antihypertensive medication and public health practice.

    Abstract The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown great heterogeneity between countries that merits investigation. There is a need to better highlight the variability in the pandemic trajectories in different geographic areas. By using openly available data from 'GitHub' COVID-19 dataset for Europe and from the official dataset of France for the period 2020 to 2021, I present the three COVID-19 waves in France and Europe in maps. The epidemic trends across areas display different evolutions for different time periods. National and European public health authorities will be able to improve allocation of resources for more effective public health measures based on geo-epidemiological analyses.

    Abstract Objective: The association of cardiovascular (CV) risk with social isolation and loneliness remains poorly studied. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the associations between social isolation and loneliness with estimated 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk.
    Methods: Among 302,553 volunteers of the UK Biobank population, social isolation and loneliness were assessed with a questionnaire. Associations between social isolation and loneliness with ASCVD risk were estimated using multiple gender regressions.
    Results: Men presented a higher estimated 10-year ASCVD risk (8.63% vs. 2.65%,
    Conclusion: Social isolation was associated with a higher estimated 10-year ASCVD risk in both genders but only loneliness among men. Social isolation and loneliness can be considered potential added risk factors for CV risk. Health policies should address these notions in prevention campaigns, in addition to traditional risk factors.
