Abstract Hearing loss in childhood has serious consequences for the entire development of the child. It is very important to make an accurate early diagnosis. The assessment usually includes physical, genetic, and radiological examination. In imaging diagnostics, CT, Cone Beam CT and or MRI of the petrous bone are the usual imaging modalities for the assessment of diseases of mastoid air cells, middle ear, external ear, the cochlea, the vestibulocochlear nerve, and the brain.

Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common tumor entities worldwide and a common cause of cancer-associated death. Colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM) thereby constitute a severe life-limiting factor. The therapy of CRLM presents a major challenge and surgical resection as well as systemic chemotherapy remain the first-line treatment options. Over the years several locoregional, vascular- and image-based treatments offered by interventional radiologists have emerged when conventional therapies fail, or metastases recurrence occurs. Among such options is the conventional/traditional transarterial chemoembolization (cTACE) by local injection of a combination of chemotherapeutic- and embolic-agents. A similar treatment is the more recent irinotecan-loaded drug-eluting beads TACE (DEBIRI-TACE), which are administered using the same approach. Numerous studies have shown that these different types of chemoembolization can be applied in different clinical settings safely. Furthermore, such treatments can also be combined with other local or systemic therapies. Unfortunately, due to the incoherent patient populations of studies investigating TACE in CRLM, critics state that the definite evidence supporting positive patient outcomes is still lacking. In the following article we review studies on conventional and DEBIRI-TACE. Although highly dependent on the clinical setting, prior therapies and generally the study population, cTACE and DEBIRI-TACE show comparable results. We present the most representative studies on the different chemoembolization procedures and compare the results. Although there is compelling evidence for both approaches, further studies are necessary to determine which patients profit most from these therapies. In conclusion, we determine TACE to be a viable option in CRLM in different clinical settings. Nevertheless, a multidisciplinary approach is desired to offer patients the best possible care.

Abstract Objectives: The main aims of the study were the evaluation of stress-related effects (strenuous vs. non-strenuous sport vs. nonathletes) in stimulating or reducing influences on cartilage volume in the ankle joint and the evaluation of the image quality of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device with a field strength of 3.0 Tesla compared to one of 1.5 Tesla.
Methods: A total of 15 subjects (6 male, 9 female) aged 19-33 years participated voluntarily in this prospective study. The subjects were divided into three groups: high-performance athletes of the German Football Association (DFB) (football/soccer = strenuous sport), high-performance athletes of the German Swimming Association (DSV) (swimming = non-strenuous sport), and nonathletes. MRI was performed on both ankle joints of all subjects in the 1.5 T and 3.0 T MRI scanners using survey sequences, proton density sequences in the coronal and sagittal planes, and VIBE sequences. Using the images of both feet produced by VIBE sequences, the cartilages of the talus and tibia were manually circumscribed using a computer mouse in every third layer, and the volume was calculated. For qualitative assessment, blinded images were submitted to three radiologists with defined standards. The images were scored using a scale from 1 to 5.
Results: Cartilage volume: The investigation and examination of the individual cartilage volumes by analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed no significant differences among the three groups. The effect intensities, as calculated by Cohen's d, were right tibia (Ti
Conclusion: The study showed no significant difference in the volume of hyaline articular cartilage in the upper ankle joint among the high-performance strenuous DFB athlete, high-performance non-strenuous DSV athlete, and nonathlete groups. The 3.0 Tesla device offers significant advantages in image quality compared to the 1.5 Tesla device.

Abstract Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of microwave ablation (MWA) as a treatment for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after initial successful surgical resection.
Methods: This retrospective study included 40 patients (11 women and 29 men; mean age: 62.3 ± 11.7 years) with 48 recurrent lesions of HCC after initial surgical resection that were treated by percutaneous MWA. Several parameters including complications, technical success, local tumor progression (LTP), intrahepatic distant recurrence (IDR), overall survival (OS), and progression-free survival (PFS) were evaluated in order to investigate the safety and efficacy of MWA for these recurrent HCC lesions after surgical treatment.
Results: All MWA treatments were performed without complications or procedure-related deaths. Technical success was achieved in all cases. Two cases developed LTP at a rate of 5%, and IDR occurred in 23 cases at a rate of 57.5% (23/40). The 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, and 6-year OS rates were 97%, 89.2%, 80.3%, 70.2%, and 60.2%, respectively. The 1- and
Conclusion: MWA is effective and safe as a local treatment for recurrent HCC after initial surgical resection.

Abstract A comparison of the combination therapy consisting of microwave ablation (MWA) after bland lipiodol-based transarterial embolization (TAE) with MWA alone in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) within the Milan criteria. Forty-nine patients in the TAE-MWA group (12 women and 37 men; mean age: 63.3 ± 9.6 years) with 55 tumors and 63 patients in the MWA group (18 women and 45 men; mean age: 65.9 ± 10.5 years) with 67 tumors were retrospectively enrolled in this study. For the investigation of treatment protocols based upon both safety and efficacy, patients' cases were analyzed with regard to complications, local tumor progression (LTP), intrahepatic distant recurrence (IDR), overall survival (OS), and progression-free survival (PFS). There were no cases of major complications in either group. The LTP rate was 5.5% in the MWA-TAE group and 7.5% in the MWA group (

Abstract (1) Purpose: To evaluate tumor response and survival of patients with colorectal pulmonary metastases treated by transvenous pulmonary chemoembolization (TPCE) alone with palliative intent or TPCE followed by microwave ablation (MWA) with potentially curative intent. (2) Material and methods: A total of 164 patients (64 women and 100 men; mean age: 61.8 ± 12.7 years) with unresectable colorectal lung metastases and not responding to systemic chemotherapy, who either received repetitive TPCE (Group A) or TPCE followed by MWA (Group B), were retrospectively enrolled. The revised response evaluation criteria in solid tumors were used to assess treatment response in Group A. The oncological response in Group B was divided into local tumor progression (LTP) and intrapulmonary distant recurrence (IDR) after MWA. (3) Results: The 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-year survival rates were 70.4%, 41.4%, 22.3%, and 5%, respectively, for all patients. In Group A; the rates of stable disease; progressive disease; and partial response were at 55.4%, 41.9%, and 2.7%, respectively. The rates of LTP and IDR were 3.8%, and 63.5%, respectively, in Group B. Conclusion: TPCE is an effective treatment for colorectal lung metastases, which can be performed alone or combined with MWA.

Title translation Intravaskuläre Therapieverfahren zu lokoregionalen Therapien von Lungentumoren.
Abstract Background: Lung cancer incidence has greatly increased over the past century. Moreover, the lung is the most common site of metastatic involvement. Despite improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of lung malignancies, patient prognosis is still unsatisfactory. Locoregional chemotherapeutic techniques for the treatment of lung malignancies are the current focus of research. The aim of this review article is to present different locoregional intravascular techniques and their treatment principles and to assess the pros and cons of each of them as a palliative and neoadjuvant treatment method in the treatment of lung malignancy.
Method: The different methods for the treatment of malignant lung lesions such as isolated lung perfusion (ILP), selective pulmonary artery perfusion (SPAP), transpulmonary chemoembolization (TPCE), bronchial artery infusion (BAI), bronchioarterial chemoembolization (BACE), and intraarteriel chemoperfusion (IACP) are evaluated comparatively.
Results: Locoregional intravascular chemotherapy procedures are proving to be promising treatment options in the management of malignant lung tumors. In order to achieve optimal results, the locoregional technique should be used to achieve the highest possible uptake of the chemotherapeutic agent into the target tissue with rapid systemic clearance.
Conclusion: Among the various treatment options for lung malignancies, TPCE is the best evaluated treatment concept. However, further studies are necessary to define the optimal treatment concept with the best clinical outcomes.
Key points: · There are various intravascular chemotherapy methods for the treatment of lung malignancies.. · Transpulmonary chemoembolization (TPCE) is currently the most extensively evaluated treatment method for lung malignancies.. · Thermoablation after neoadjuvant chemoperfusion is a promising therapy for treating lung malignancies..
