Title translation The sound intensity after cordectomy of type II-III.
Abstract Objectives: The aim of this paper is to compare the intensity of the French oral vowels of 10 patients after cordectomies of types II or III with a group of 10 healthy subjects. This surgery removes the mucosa, the ligament and a part of the vocal muscle of the touched vocal fold, which causes a less efficient closure and a vibratory asymmetry. Consequently, glottal leaks associated with a difficult preservation of the subglottic pressure (PSG) can appear. The intensity is mainly bound to the strength of adduction of the vocal folds and to the management of the PSG. In these conditions, the quality of the control of this parameter by our patients may be altered.
Methods: The intensity (in dB) was measured on three vowels [a, i, u] produced in an isolated context (n= 60). This parameter was also measured on this same vowels surounded by stop consonants, which results in logatomes of type CV1.CV2.CVC3 (n= 360).
Results: We show particularly that the surgery does not alter the parameter of the intensity. The differences between patients and control subjects for isolated productions result from compensatory strategies. We also highlight an increase of the intensity in voiced context for both groups.
Conclusions: The patients treated by cordectomies of types II-III keep a powerful sound. The intrinsic characteristics of the intensity of the vowels are maintained after this surgery.

Abstract This article deals with the intelligibility of stop consonants in onset position (initial and intervocalic) as pronounced by 10 French speakers treated by a type II or III cordectomy. These surgeries cause a less efficient glottal closure and a vibratory asymmetry. The voicing contrast in consonants may be altered. The patients' vocal samples were made up of non-words of the CVCVCVC type, where C = /p, t, k, b, d, g/ and V = /a, i, u/(n = 360), and were given to 22 French listeners for evaluation. Two identification tests were created and the listeners were asked to choose the consonants they thought they recognized (n = 7920). The results were presented in the form of a confusion matrix highlighting possible confusions of voicing and/or places of articulation. We showed high identification rates of consonants, which revealed an intact voicing contrast in this dysphonic population.

Abstract Objectives: The aim of this paper is to compare the aerodynamic parameters of intraoral pressure (IOP), oral airflow (OAF), and estimated transglottal pressure of 10 French patients treated by a cordectomy of types II-III with a group of 10 French healthy subjects.
    Study design: Prospective.
Methods: The collection of the aerodynamic data was conducted with EVA2. Parameters were measured using logatomes of the type CV1·CV2·CVC3 where C represents [p,b] and V is one of the vowels [a,i,u] in the positions one and two (n = 240). The maximum peaks of IOP of the plosives [p] and [b] and the maximum peaks of OAF at their releases were extracted. Finally, the transglottal pressure was estimated, necessary for the voicing of [b], to establish the difference in the IOP mean peak of [p] and [b] at the same intensity. Subsequently, the differences in IOP for both positions and each vocalic contexts, "IOP(p-b)" were calculated, and the reports of these differences for the IOP of [p], viz "IOP(p-b)/IOP(p)", were established for a normalization of the results.
Results: This study highlights an increase of the IOP and the OAF in voiceless contexts for both groups. The elevation of both parameters observed for the patients-confirmed by the calculation of the estimated transglottal pressure-does show some degree of laryngeal incompetence.
Conclusions: The patients treated by cordectomy of types II-III maintain a relatively good voicing contrast. A certain difficulty in the execution of this articulatory feature is found.

Title translation A perceptual study of question and assertive modalities after vertical partial laryngectomies.
Abstract Objectives: Our study concerns the perception of the contrast between assertives and question modalities in patients having undergone a cordectomy or a vertical partial laryngectomy.
Material and methods: Four patients (2 cordectomies and 2 vertical partial laryngectomies), age from 57 to 66 year old (average 61; median 61) were included. They were recorded while producing logatomes, constituents and sentences in the assertive and question modalities. Perceptual evaluation was analysed using Praat software. The assessors (consisting of 8 French native auditors, 4 men and 4 women) evaluated 80 stimuli.
Results: Our results show a good average rate of modality recognition with a good intelligibility for these patients. The more frequent errors were in the vertical partial laryngectomies group who had more unpredictable modulations.
Conclusion: Our small sample does not allow us to generalize but our first observations tend to show that these patients have a good capability in producing question and assertive modalities.

Abstract The ratio of the yields of antiprotons to protons in pp collisions has been measured by the ALICE experiment at sqrt[s]=0.9 and 7 TeV during the initial running periods of the Large Hadron Collider. The measurement covers the transverse momentum interval 0.45<p_{t}<1.05  GeV/c and rapidity |y|<0.5. The ratio is measured to be R_{|y|<0.5}=0.957±0.006(stat)±0.014(syst) at 0.9 TeV and R_{|y|<0.5}=0.991±0.005(stat)±0.014(syst) at 7 TeV and it is independent of both rapidity and transverse momentum. The results are consistent with the conventional model of baryon-number transport and set stringent limits on any additional contributions to baryon-number transfer over very large rapidity intervals in pp collisions.<br />
