Abstract Ice cream is one of the most popular dairy foods in the world. But it has long been recognized as a high‐calorie food and may not be suitable for certain segments of the population. Oat‐based food products are considered as functional foods due to its rich β‐glucan. A symbiotic oat‐based frozen yogurt (SOFY) containing fermented oat, probiotics, and inulin (prebiotic) was developed, and its effects on serum lipids in rats were evaluated. The new product had 4.10% protein, 8.50% fat, and 2.10% fiber, respectively. Bifidobacterium remained 106 CFU/ml up to 8 weeks. Triglycerides levels of the rats fed with 30% or 35% SOFY were significantly lower than that of the control group (p < 0.05). Serum total cholesterol and low‐density lipoprotein levels of experimental rat groups decreased with increased SOFY, and the difference was very significant between group with 35% SOFY and control groups (p < 0.01). There was no significant difference in high‐density lipoprotein between each two groups (p > 0.05). Hepatic cell cords of rats after administration of SOFY showed orderly manner and normal hepatocyte morphology compared with those of rats in control group. Results indicated that consumption of oat‐based frozen yogurt could lower serum lipids levels in rats.

Abstract This open access book focuses on investigating predicting precursor information and key points of rockburst in mining engineering through laboratory experiment, theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and case studies. Understanding the evolution patterns for the microstructure instability of rock is a prerequisite for rockburst prediction. The book provides a guide for readers seeking to understand the evolution patterns for the microstrucure of rock failure, the predicting key point of rock failure and the rockburst predicting model. It will be an essential reference to understand mechanism of rockburst and sheds new light on dynamic disasters prediction. Chapters are carefully developed to cover (1) The evolution patterns for the microstructure instability of rock; (2) Rockburst hazard monitoring and predicting criterion and predicting models. The book addresses the issue with a holistic and systematic approach that investigates the occurrence mechanism of rockburst based on the evolution patterns for the microstructure of rock failure and establishes the predicting model of rockburst. This book will be of interest to researchers of mining engineering, rock mechanics engineering and safety engineering

Abstract Regarding the treatment of type A basilar invagination, there is a debate between the combination of anterior and posterior surgery and posterior fixation. The author's personal opinion on the hot topic of cranial vertebral surgery: the surgical plan of type A basilar invagination is expressed in this article. Overall, the combined anterior-posterior approach is applicable in almost all cases of type A basilar invagination, regardless of how severe atlantoaxial dislocation, and simple posterior surgery is only in cases where atlantoaxial dislocation is not very severe. The anterior-posterior combined surgery has two incisions, and the risk of postoperative infection is higher than for posterior surgery alone. If the patient has no spinal cord symptoms, only posterior surgery is acceptable, even if no anatomical reduction can be achieved. If there is a more severe spinal cord dysfunction, or a large syringomyelia, anterior atlantoaxial release is necessary to ensure achieving anatomical reduction and restoring the normal morphology of the cervical spinal cord.

Abstract Magnetotail is one of the most critical regions of the Earth’s magnetosphere. Its dynamics are controlled by the external solar wind and IMF conditions, the coupling with the ionosphere, and the transport and energization of particles from the solar wind and ionosphere. It provides the main particle sources for the inner magnetosphere. This presentation reviews advances made in the last two years from observations and simulations in our understanding of the magnetotail dynamics. The topics include, but not limited to, large-scale magnetotail structures, mesoscale disturbances, tail reconnection physics, substorms, ionospheric outflows, and connection with the inner magnetosphere.
