Abstract Both the senescence of cancer cells and the maintenance of cancer stem cells seem to be mutually exclusive because senescence is considered a physiological mechanism that effectively suppresses tumor growth. Recent studies have revealed common signaling pathways between cellular senescence and the maintenance of stemness in cancer cells, thus challenging the conventional understanding of this process. Although the links between these processes have not yet been fully elucidated, emerging evidence indicates that senescent cancer cells can undergo reprograming to recover stemness. Herein, we provide a comprehensive overview of the close correlation between senescence and stemness reprograming in cancer cells, with a particular focus on the mechanisms by which senescent cancer cells recover their stemness in various tumor systems.

Abstract Deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) is a powerful reinforcement learning algorithm for large-scale continuous controls. DDPG runs the back-propagation from the state-action value function to the actor network's parameters directly, which raises a big challenge for the compatibility of the critic network. This compatibility emphasizes that the policy evaluation is compatible with the policy improvement. As proved in deterministic policy gradient, the compatible function guarantees the convergence ability but restricts the form of the critic network tightly. The complexities and limitations of the compatible function impede its development in DDPG. This article introduces neural networks' similarity indices with gradients to measure the compatibility concretely. Represented as kernel matrices, we consider the actor network's and the critic network's training dataset, trained parameters, and gradients. With the sketching trick, the calculation time of the similarity index decreases hugely. The centered kernel alignment index and the normalized Bures similarity index provide us with consistent compatibility scores empirically. Moreover, we demonstrate the necessity of the compatible critic network in DDPG from three aspects: 1) analyzing the policy improvement/evaluation steps; 2) conducting the theoretic analysis; and 3) showing the experimental results. Following our research, we remodel the compatible function with an energy function model, enabling it suitable to the sizeable state-action space problem. The critic network has higher compatibility scores and better performance by introducing the policy change information into the critic-network optimization process. Besides, based on our experiment observations, we propose a light-computation overestimation solution. To prove our algorithm's performance and validate the compatibility of the critic network, we compare our algorithm with six state-of-the-art algorithms using seven PyBullet robotics environments.

Abstract Objectively recognizing and improving the sustainable development resilience of China's natural gas industry will help achieve the low-carbon transformation goal of China's energy system. Taking 31 Chinese provinces as the research area, this paper measures the sustainable development resilience (SDR) of China's natural gas industry based on the Drive-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) model and entropy method, and integrates the gravity correction model and social network analysis methods to identify the spatial linkages and network patterns among core regions, and further explores the development trend of the SDR of China's natural gas industry using grey model (GM(1,1)) moderated by a variable-weight buffer operator. The results show that: (1) There are significant regional differences in the SDR of the natural gas industry across Chinese provinces. The SDR is a high priority in Shanghai, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Guangdong and Shandong, while it is low major in Tibet, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou and Ningxia. (2) The spatial connection network density is low in China's natural gas industry, and the network correlation between provinces is poor. In detail, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Shandong are the core of the entire network and the connection lines between provinces are mainly basic in the whole region with poor connection strength, but there is a trend for the better. (3) The changing trend is significantly different in the SDR of Chinese provinces, and the prediction results show a trend of "polarization" in the SDR index of the provinces in the resource endowment area.

Abstract Aim: The COVID-19 epidemic has caused risk and uncertainty. This study answers whether and how psychological distress and digital sports influence willingness to take the vaccine and precautionary savings.
Subject and methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study with an online survey sample of 1016 Shanghai residents who live and work there and are aged between 16-60. All of them experienced the COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai. We used logistic regressions to examine the relationships between the variables of interest.
Results: Three findings were demonstrated. First, psychologically distressed individuals are less inclined to take the vaccine. Second, those engaged in fitness activities via digital media platforms are more willing to get vaccinated. Third, psychologically distressed individuals and digital video-based physical exercisers are more likely to precautionary save.
Conclusions: This study contributes to the literature by documenting how people changed their life from the perspective of finance and health during the lockdown and providing practical implications.

Abstract The application of blockchain can effectively improve the efficiency of fresh agricultural product circulation and consumer trust, but it can also increase investment costs. In this context, this paper introduces parameters such as blockchain unit variable cost, the level of blockchain technology investment, and consumer channel preference in two dual-channel supply chain systems dominated by fresh agricultural product manufacturers: online direct sales and distribution. It compares and analyzes pricing and channel selection strategies in both cases of not using and using blockchain. The research shows that when blockchain is used, manufacturer profits are higher in the direct sales model than in the distribution model. Traditional retailers' profits are lower in the direct sales model than in the distribution model. Total supply chain profits are higher in the direct sales model than in the distribution model, and they exhibit an inverted "U" shape as the level of blockchain investment increases. In the online direct sales model, if the blockchain technology unit variable cost is within a certain threshold range, manufacturer profits, traditional retailer profits, and total supply chain profits are all higher than when blockchain technology is not used. In the online distribution model, when the blockchain variable cost and blockchain usage level meet certain conditions, manufacturers, traditional retailers, and online distributors all have higher profits when using blockchain technology than when not using it. This study provides theoretical guidance for the practical application of blockchain technology in dual-channel fresh agricultural product supply chains.

Abstract To study the effect range of the Nd:YAG laser through various levels of cloudy medium for targets with varying grayscale values in vitro. The coated paper cards with grayscale values of 0, 50, 100, and 150 were used as the laser's targets, which were struck straightly with varying energies using three burst modes (single pulse, double pulse, and triple pulse). Six filters (transmittances of 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90) were applied to simulate various levels of cloudy refractive medium. Image J software was used to measure the diameters and regions of the laser spots. The ranges of the Nd:YAG laser spots increased with energy in the same burst mode (P < 0.05). Under the same amount of energy, the ranges of the Nd:YAG laser spot increased with the grayscale value of the targets (P < 0.05). The greater the transmittance of the filters employed, the larger the range of the Nd: YAG laser spots produced. Assuming that the total pulse energy is identical, the effect ranges of multi-pulse burst modes were significantly larger than those of single-pulse burst mode (P < 0.05). The effect range of a Nd:YAG laser grows with increasing energy and the target's grayscale value. A cloudy refractive medium has a negative impact on the effect range of the Nd: YAG laser. The single pulse mode has the narrowest and safest efficiency range.

Abstract In order to investigate the damage characteristics of structural components under axial compression, thin-walled columns are chosen as a more straightforward construct due to the complex structural properties of composite materials, diverse fiber laying angles, and varied geometries associated with thin-walled columns. Despite the limitations imposed by labor-intensive testing procedures, high costs, and the poor repeatability inherent in experimental research methods, there remains an insufficient exploration of axial compressive damage in columns composed of aluminum and fiber-reinforced polymers. This article utilizes the finite element technique to quantitatively analyze the crushing processes of four materials: aluminum, carbon fiber-reinforced aluminum, carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, and glass fiber-reinforced polymer. It examines the effects of varying fibers and matrix materials on their mechanical attributes. The study also evaluates the impact of different cross-sectional designs on the mechanical behavior of the columns.

Abstract It is difficult to achieve ideal results only based on a single subject for governing global climate issues, and the synergy co-governance of multiple subjects may address this difficulty. Based on the different resource advantages and interests of China, the US, and the EU, the roles they assume and play in the governance of global climate issues are different. In this study, we explore the competition and interaction between the carbon neutral strategies of China, the US, and the EU under different scenarios through the dynamic evolution game model and use simulation analysis to simulate the impact of changes in the initial values of the main parameters on the evolution trend of the three-party game strategy under a variety of scenarios, in order to explore the dynamic evolution path of the behavior of the three parties in the game and the stabilization strategy. The result of this study suggests that: (1) The strategic choices of different participants in global climate governance interact with each other. (2) The ideal strategy combination may be achieved when the carbon neutral strategy game is carried out between China, the US, and the EU under certain conditions. (3) If the initial willingness to cooperate changes, with the Evolutionary Stable Strategy (ESS) unchanged, only the convergence rate of the evolutionary game subject's strategy choices will be affected. (4) The result of the sensitivity analysis suggests that certain policy conflicts exist in the evolution process of carbon neutrality strategies in China, the US, and the EU. Besides, the evolution path will deviate from the ideal state with the change in the benefits of different entities. The conclusion of this study can provide a valuable reference for China, the US, and the EU to divide responsibilities and form a consensus in the synergy governance mechanism, such that the effectiveness of global climate governance can be increased.
