    Abstract Human social interactions are typically recorded as time-specific dyadic interactions, and represented as evolving (temporal) networks, where links are activated/deactivated over time. However, individuals can interact in groups of more than two people. Such group interactions can be represented as higher-order events of an evolving network. Here, we propose methods to characterize the temporal-topological properties of higher-order events to compare networks and identify their (dis)similarities. We analyzed 8 real-world physical contact networks, finding the following: (a) Events of different orders close in time tend to be also close in topology; (b) Nodes participating in many different groups (events) of a given order tend to involve in many different groups (events) of another order; Thus, individuals tend to be consistently active or inactive in events across orders; (c) Local events that are close in topology are correlated in time, supporting observation (a). Differently, in 5 collaboration networks, observation (a) is almost absent; Consistently, no evident temporal correlation of local events has been observed in collaboration networks. Such differences between the two classes of networks may be explained by the fact that physical contacts are proximity based, in contrast to collaboration networks. Our methods may facilitate the investigation of how properties of higher-order events affect dynamic processes unfolding on them and possibly inspire the development of more refined models of higher-order time-varying networks.

    Abstract The rapid development of narrow-bandgap nonfullerene acceptors (NFAs) has boosted the efficiency of organic solar cells (OSCs) over 19 %. The new features of high-performance NFAs, such as visible-NIR light absorption, moderate the highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO), and high crystallinity, require polymer donors with matching physical properties. This emphasizes the importance of methods that can effectively tune the physical properties of polymers. Owning to very small atom size and strongest electronegativity, the fluorination has been proved the most efficient strategy to regulate the physical properties of polymer donors, including frontier energy level, absorption coefficient, dielectric constant, crystallinity and charge transport. Owing to the success of fluorination strategy, the vast majority of high-performance polymer donors possess one or more fluorine atoms. In this review, the fluorination synthetic methods, the synthetic route of well-known fluorinated building blocks, the fluorinated polymers which are categorized by the type of donor or acceptor units, and the relationships between the polymer structures, properties, and photovoltaic performances are comprehensively surveyed. We hope this review could provide the readers a deeper insight into fluorination strategy and lay a strong foundation for future innovation of fluorinated polymers.

    Abstract Nodal spreading influence is the capability of a node to activate the rest of the network when it is the seed of spreading. Combining nodal properties (centrality metrics) derived from local and global topological information respectively has been shown to better predict nodal influence than using a single metric. In this work, we investigate to what extent local and global topological information around a node contributes to the prediction of nodal influence and whether relatively local information is sufficient for the prediction. We show that by leveraging the iterative process used to derive a classical nodal centrality such as eigenvector centrality, we can define an iterative metric set that progressively incorporates more global information around the node. We propose to predict nodal influence using an iterative metric set that consists of an iterative metric from order 1 to K produced in an iterative process, encoding gradually more global information as K increases. Three iterative metrics are considered, which converge to three classical node centrality metrics, respectively. In various real-world networks and synthetic networks with community structures, we find that the prediction quality of each iterative based model converges to its optimal when the metric of relatively low orders (

    Abstract Despite the use of various therapies such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy (CAR-T), the prognosis of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is still generally poor. However, immunotherapy is currently a hot topic in the treatment of hematological tumors. Extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) can be converted to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) via CD39, and ADP can be converted to adenosine via CD73, which can bind to P1 and P2 receptors to exert immunomodulatory effects. Research on the mechanism of the purinergic signaling pathway can provide a new direction for the treatment of AML, and inhibitors of this signaling pathway have been discovered by several researchers and gradually applied in the clinic. In this paper, the mechanism of the purinergic signaling pathway and its clinical application are described, revealing a new target for the treatment of AML and subsequent improvement in patient prognosis.

    Abstract To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and win the blue-sky defense battle, the environmental situation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding areas is still grim, and the optimization of its industrial structure and energy structure is imminent. With the rapid development of interregional trade in intermediate products, carbon emissions are transferred across regions with the trade. Due to the large differences in the technology, industrial structure, and economic development of cities, extending the environmental governance chain of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding areas is indispensable. In this article, based on the interregional input-output tables in 2002, 2007, and 2012, we establish the average propagation length (APL) model and the structural path analysis model Structural Path Analysis model for analyzing the carbon conduction relationship in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. And we also compare the situation of the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. The results show that: i) From perspective of the whole urban clusters, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has obvious characteristics of coal-fired urban clusters. More than 65% of the carbon-containing resources in Hebei’s coal industry are transferred to the electricity and heat industry. In the carbon conduction chain, the carbon emissions caused by electricity and heat industry, which acts as an intermediary, account for more than 85% of the total emissions. ii) From the perspective of industrial structure transfer within the urban clusters, Hebei Province has an important resource support position. Its secondary industry can not only effectively alleviate the shortage of energy supply in other resource provinces, but also has great development potential in the improvement of economic benefits. iii) From the perspective of specific industry sectors, resource provinces such as Shanxi and Inner Mongolia have high carbon emission coefficients in the electricity and heat industry, which is the main reason for the high carbon emissions in the transfer chain.

    Abstract This study explored the effect of glutathione assisted continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) on peripheral blood receptors in sepsis patients with acute kidney injury. A total of 196 sepsis patients with acute kidney injury were recruited to perform a retrospective cohort study, 98 patients treated with glutathione combined with CRRT were included as the combination group, and then 98 patients treated with CRRT alone were included as the control group during the same period. The outcome was changes in the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr), peripheral blood receptors, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE) II, and sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) before and after treatment. After treatment, the levels of BUN and Scr in both groups of patients were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the levels in the combination group were lower than those in the control group. After treatment, toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 and TLR2 levels in both groups of patients were lower than those before treatment, and the levels in the combination group were lower than those in the control group. After treatment, the APACHE II and SOFA scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group. Glutathione-assisted CRRT can improve the renal function of patients and reduce the immune inflammatory response of sepsis patients with acute kidney injury, which can be widely promoted in the clinic.

    Abstract The contamination detection technology helps in water quality management and protection in surface water. It is important to detect sudden contamination events timely from dynamic variations due to various interference factors in online water quality monitoring data. In this study, a framework named "Prediction - Detection - Judgment" is proposed with a method framework of "Time series increment - Hierarchical clustering - Bayes' theorem model". Time to detection is used as an evaluation index of contamination detection methods, along with the probability of detection and false alarm rate. The proposed method is tested with available public data and further applied in a monitoring site of a river. Results showed that the method could detect the contamination events with a 100% probability of detection, a 17% false alarm rate and a time to detection close to 4 monitoring intervals. The proposed index time to detection evaluates the timeliness of the method, and timely detection ensures that contamination events can be responded to and dealt with in time. The site application also demonstrates the feasibility and practicability of the framework proposed in this study and its potential for extensive implementation.

    Abstract Diabetes mellitus is an endocrine disease characterized by prolonged hyperglycemia. Prolonged high blood sugar levels interfere with the differentiation and maturation process of OBs and OCs, leading to the onset of osteoporosis. However, OCs differentiation and maturation is a complex regulatory process. In this study, we used a co-culture system of RAW264.7 and MC3T3-E1 cells under HG concentration to explore the effect of CYM on OCs in a HG environment. The effects of CYM on the formation and function of OCs were observed using TRAP-positive cell counts and bone resorption pits. Then, mRNA and protein expression levels of OCs-related genes were detected by real-time qPCR and western blotting. The results showed that CYM had an inhibitory effect on OCs differentiation and bone resorption, reduced mRNAs expression of OCs-associated genes, and downregulated RANKL/RANK/TRAF6 pathway that mediates OCs differentiation. CYM could be a promising natural compound against diabetic osteoporosis.

    Abstract Introduction: Sinus pericranii (SP) is a rare vascular malformation characterized by abnormal communication between the intracranial and extracranial venous systems [1]. Sinus pericranii is most commonly seen in the distribution areas of the superior sagittal and transverse sinuses [2]. There are no uniform criteria for the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic criteria, treatment options, or prognosis of sinus pericranii [3].
    Case description: In this paper, we present the diagnosis and treatment of a child admitted to our neurosurgery department in 2019 with rapidly growing frontal sinus pericranii, as well as the 3-year postoperative follow-up.
    Discussion: The authors summarize the clinical presentation characteristics, diagnosis and treatment methods, and prognosis of this disease using relevant domestic and international literature to improve clinicians' understanding of this disease.
    Conclusion: It is rare to see a significant growing of the sinus pericranii within a short period, and the mechanism of their occurrence needs to be further explored.

    Abstract Introduction: Increased body fat may influence the partition coefficients of inhaled anesthetics. We compared patient responses to desflurane and sevoflurane anesthesia, as measured by a quicker recovery and fewer complications, in patients with higher body fat percentages, not only obese people.
    Methods: This study included 120 patients. Participants were stratified into low or high body fat percentages groups using bioelectrical impedance analysis and were randomized 1:1 to receive desflurane or sevoflurane as an inhaled anesthetic, recorded as Low-Desflurane, Low-Sevoflurane, High- Desflurane, and High-Sevoflurane. Recovery time, Riker sedation-agitation scale scores, and complications were recorded over 1 hour in the post-anesthesia care unit.
    Results: A total of 106 patients were analyzed. There were no significant differences in the overall recovery time between the patient subgroups with higher and lower body fat percentages; in addition, there were no significant differences in the incidence of nausea, vomiting,dizziness, or headache (all p>0.05). However, the incidence of agitation emergence in the HighSevoflurane subgroup was significantly higher compared to the High-Desflurane subgroup (33.3% vs.7.41%; p = 0.043).
    Conclusion: In conclusion, for patients with a lower body fat percentage, both desflurane and sevoflurane can provide good and fast recovery; for patients with a higher body fat percentage,desflurane may provide better recovery with a lower incidence of agitation emergence compared to sevoflurane.
