Abstract The development of the theoretical system of civil law scholarship and the codification of civil law are closely related and of promotional function to each other. The codification of civil law can promote the systematization of civil law scholarship, perfection of the value system, development and modernization of civil law studies, and the systematization of legal hermeneutics. The subjectivity of China’s civil law scholarship, i.e., the notions of problem-orientation, nativeness, practice, the times and innovations, can be improved during China’s civil law codification. The codification of civil law can promote the development of a theoretical system of civil law scholarship with Chinese characteristics, including the development of diversified elements such as values, content, system, hermeneutics and methods of civil law

Abstract Tumour-associated endothelial cells (TECs) are a critical stromal cell type in the tumour microenvironment and play central roles in tumour angiogenesis. Notably, TECs have phenotypic plasticity, as they have the potential to transdifferentiate into cells with a mesenchymal phenotype through a process termed endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT). Many studies have reported that EndoMT influences multiple malignant biological properties of tumours, such as abnormal angiogenesis and tumour metabolism, growth, metastasis and therapeutic resistance. Thus, the value of targeting EndoMT in tumour treatment has received increased attention. In this review, we comprehensively explore the phenomenon of EndoMT in the tumour microenvironment and identify influencing factors and molecular mechanisms responsible for EndoMT induction. Furthermore, the pathological functions of EndoMT in tumour progression and potential therapeutic strategies for targeting EndoMT in tumour treatment are also discussed to highlight the pivotal roles of EndoMT in tumour progression and therapy.

Abstract The emergence of drug resistance and metastasis has long been a difficult problem for cancer treatment. Recent studies have shown that cancer stem cell populations are key factors in the regulation of cancer aggressiveness, relapse and drug resistance. Cancer stem cell (CSC) populations are highly plastic and self-renewing, giving them unique metabolic, metastatic, and chemotherapy resistance properties. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most abundant internal modification of mRNA and is involved in a variety of cell growth and development processes, including RNA transcription, alternative splicing, degradation, and translation. It has also been linked to the development of various cancers. At present, the important role of m6A in tumour progression is gradually attracting attention, especially in the tumour stemness regulation process. Abnormal m6A modifications regulate tumour metastasis, recurrence and drug resistance. This paper aims to explore the regulatory mechanism of m6A in CSCs and clinical therapy, clarify its regulatory network, and provide theoretical guidance for the development of clinical targets and improvement of therapeutic effects.

Abstract Background/aim: The extent of lymphadenectomy appropriate for patients with cT2 colorectal cancer (CRC) remains controversial. This study was conducted to compare the survival outcomes of patients with cT2 CRC after D3 or D2 lymph node dissection (LND).
Patients and methods: Qualifying subjects (N=590) had undergone radical colorectal resections for cT2 CRC and were grouped according to tumor histological type as either well-differentiated (WDA) or non-well-differentiated (nWDA) adenocarcinoma. Each group was further stratified into D3 or D2 LND according to the extent of lymph node dissection. Propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to balance potential confounding factors, and identify independent prognostic risk factors using Cox regression analysis. Primary outcome measures were overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival, (CSS) and relapse-free survival rate (RFS).
Results: Prior to PSM, OS and CSS differed significantly (p=0.001 and p=0.021, respectively) for D3 and D2 LND subsets in the nWDA group. Estimated hazard ratios (HRs) for OS and CSS were 3 [95% confidence interval (CI)=1.3-6.8; p=0.0084] and 3.2 (95%CI=1-10; p=0.047), respectively, in the D3 LND subset. After matching, significant differences in OS (p=0.007) and CSS (p=0.012) were also observed, with corresponding estimated HRs of 4 (95%CI=1.2-14; p=0.028) and 16 (95%CI=1.2-220; p=0.034). In the WDA group, D2 and D3 LND procedures displayed similar favorable prognoses before and after matching. Postoperative complications emerged as independent risk factors for prognosis in the WDA group of patients with cT2 CRC.
Conclusion: D3 LND improved survival outcomes in patients with non-well-differentiated cT2 CRC. In patients with well-differentiated cT2 adenocarcinoma, D3 LND was preferred to reduce perioperative complications.

Abstract As the demand for beef products grows in the Chinese market, understanding consumer preferences for beef, especially those related to quality labelling, is essential. The recent agreement between China and the European Union to promote Geographical Indications (GIs) provides a new insight into preferences for beef with quality labelling. This paper assesses consumer preferences for beef products with GIs and other attributes. A nationwide survey is conducted including 1210 respondents in China by a choice experiment attributing GI label, 'green', 'hazard-free', and 'organic' labels, feeding regimes (grain-fed, grass-fed), country of origin (China, Ireland, Australia, Brazil), and price (30, 40, 80, 100 ¥/500 g). The random parameter logit model with error component reveals that Chinese consumers have a significant preference for grain-fed beef and domestic beef, and they are willing to pay a premium price for GI-labelled beef compared with other attributes. The interaction between GIs and country of origin is included to indicate the positive price impact of GIs on imported beef products. Demographic factors such as place of residence and occupation are found to affect consumer preferences for GIs.

Abstract A microtubule ultrafiltration reactor (MUFR), with an organophosphorus system containing a sewage section with buffer liquid acetic acid and an enrichment section with aqua fortis liquid and organophosphorus dissolved in fuel oil, has been studied for praseodymium(III) migration. Many factors of praseodymium(III) migration using MUFR need to be explored, including hydrogen ion molarity (or pH), cinit of praseodymium(III), the different ionic strengths of rare-earth mine sewage, the volume ratio of organophosphorus fuel oil and aqua fortis liquid (O/A), aqua fortis' molarity, organophosphorus' molarity, and the effects of different acid liquids in the enrichment section on praseodymium(III) migration with MUFR. The virtues of MUFR compared to conventional migration were explored. The effects of the hydrodynamic properties (stability and flow velocity) and UF system parameters (internal diameter of the microtubule, tubule shell thickness, void ratio), etc., on the mass migration performance of the MUFR process for praseodymium(III) migration were also studied. The experimental results show that the best migration prerequisites of praseodymium(III) were obtained as follows: an aqua fortis molarity of 4.00 mol/L, an organophosphorus molarity of 0.200 mol/L, an O/A of 0.6 in the enrichment section, and a pH value of 4.80 in the sewage section. The ionic strength of rare-earth mine sewage had no obvious effect on praseodymium(III) migration. When the cinit of praseodymium(III) molarity was 1.58 × 10
