Abstract In shallow water, modal wavenumbers are useful for many applications. This paper presents an approach for wavenumber estimation of range-independent waveguide based on pressure and its finite difference (FD) data matrices built on the vertical linear array (VLA) data. The core of this method is that wavenumber information is expressed in the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the FD data matrix. Therefore, wavenumbers can be estimated directly by combining the SVDs of the pressure data matrix and FD data matrix. The method is validated on simulated data. The dependence of the proposed method on relevant parameters is discussed.

Abstract Estimation of modal wavenumbers is important for inference of geoacoustic properties and matched field processing in shallow water waveguides. However, it is challenging in a range-dependent environment, because modal content varies locally in response to changes in the environment. Moreover, the scales of the spatial variations in the waveguide may be on the same order as the range aperture required for resolvability of the individual modes. To this end, high-resolution (HR) wavenumber estimation methods have been widely used. In this paper, the matrix pencil and MUSIC algorithms are generalized to geometry involving a synthetic horizontal aperture (SHA) formed by a towed acoustic source and a fixed full-spanning vertical line array (VLA). The performance of the proposed methods is evaluated by simulated data in a noisy shallow water environment. Numerical results show that, when compared with the previous methods, the proposed methods significantly outperform the previous methods in terms of aperture requirement.

Abstract Most automated vehicles (AVs) are equipped with abundant sensors, which enable AVs to improve ride comfort by sensing road elevation, such as speed bumps. This paper proposes a method for estimating the road impulse features ahead of vehicles in urban environments with microelectromechanical system (MEMS) light detection and ranging (LiDAR). The proposed method deploys a real-time estimation of the vehicle pose to solve the problem of sparse sampling of the LiDAR. Considering the LiDAR error model, the proposed method builds the grid height measurement model by maximum likelihood estimation. Moreover, it incorporates height measurements with the LiDAR error model by the Kalman filter and introduces motion uncertainty to form an elevation weight method by confidence eclipse. In addition, a gate strategy based on the Mahalanobis distance is integrated to handle the sharp changes in elevation. The proposed method is tested in the urban environment. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

Abstract Plant WRKY transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in abiotic stress responses. However, how WRKY facilitate physiological changes to confer salt tolerance still needs to be studied. Here, we identified a WRKY TF from birch (Betula platyphylla Suk), BpWRKY32, which is significantly (P < 0.05) induced by salt stress. BpWRKY32 binds to W-box motif and is located in the nucleus. Under salt stress conditions, fresh weights (FW) of OE lines (BpWRKY32 overexpression lines) are increased by 66.36% than that of WT, while FW of knockout of BpWRKY32 (bpwrky32) lines are reduced by 39.49% compared with WT. BpWRKY32 regulates the expression of BpRHC1, BpNRT1, and BpMYB61 to reduce stomatal, and width-length ratio of the stomatal aperture in OE lines are reduced by 46.23% and 64.72% compared with in WT and bpwrky32 lines. BpWRKY32 induces P5CS expression, but inhibits P5CDH expression, leading to the proline content in OE lines are increased by 33.41% and 97.58% compared with WT and bpwrky32 lines. Additionally, BpWRKY32 regulates genes encoding SOD and POD family members, which correspondingly increases the activities of SOD and POD. These results suggested that BpWRKY32 regulates target genes to reduce the water loss rate, enhance the osmotic potential, and reduce the ROS accumulation, leading to improved salt tolerance.

Abstract Transitioning to low-carbon energy is key for reaching carbon neutrality and modernizing our energy systems, but it presents significant cost-related challenges for energy businesses. To foster optimal outcomes, this paper develops a game model including power generators, high-energy businesses, and consumers in the carbon trading framework. The model explores how different entities evolve their low-carbon strategies under social learning influence to optimize utility. Stability analysis of strategy and simulation experiments reveal the following findings: (1) Greater carbon quotas reduce power generators' low-carbon transition willingness while high-energy-consuming enterprises and consumers remain unchanged. (2) Higher prices for low-carbon products offered by high-energy-consuming enterprises boost low-carbon transition motivation across all parties. (3) Increased green premiums enhance revenue for all parties but are constrained by policy and carbon pricing. (4) Both direct and indirect increases in carbon emissions negatively impact the revenue and utility for all stakeholders. (5) Increasing social learning effect fosters a shift towards low-carbon strategies, accelerating the attainment of game equilibrium, and enhancing market stability and sustainability. This research provides decision support for carbon trading policy design and low-carbon transition of energy enterprises.

Abstract Automatic analysis for modern Chinese has greatly improved the accuracy of text mining in related fields, but the study of ancient Chinese is still relatively rare. Ancient text division and lexical annotation are important parts of classical literature comprehension, and previous studies have tried to construct auxiliary dictionary and other fused knowledge to improve the performance. In this paper, we propose a framework for ancient Chinese Word Segmentation and Part-of-Speech Tagging that makes a twofold effort: on the one hand, we try to capture the wordhood semantics; on the other hand, we re-predict the uncertain samples of baseline model by introducing external knowledge. The performance of our architecture outperforms pre-trained BERT with CRF and existing tools such as Jiayan.

Abstract In indoor scenes, reverberation is a crucial factor in degrading the perceived quality and intelligibility of speech. In this work, we propose a generative dereverberation method. Our approach is based on a probabilistic model utilizing a recurrent variational auto-encoder (RVAE) network and the convolutive transfer function (CTF) approximation. Different from most previous approaches, the output of our RVAE serves as the prior of the clean speech. And our target is the maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation of clean speech, which is achieved iteratively through the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. The proposed method integrates the capabilities of network-based speech prior modelling and CTF-based observation modelling. Experiments on single-channel speech dereverberation show that the proposed generative method noticeably outperforms the advanced discriminative networks.

Abstract The research team’s developed GeoSMA-3D (three-dimensional geotechnical structure and model analysis) program was used to enable the visualization analysis of tunnel engineering by determining information about the key blocks and the deterministic fracture surfaces in Diaoyutai Tunnel in Liaoning Province, China. The seepage characteristics of rough fractures with varied intersecting angles were investigated under excavation disturbance, and the effective permeability of the surrounding rock blocks was estimated. Three-dimensional morphology scanning and a point cloud splicing algorithm were used to characterize the geometric properties of the rough fractures quantitatively. The numerical model of rough fractures with varied intersecting angles was investigated via COMSOL Multiphysics software. Besides this, the seepage characteristics (as flow velocity distribution and the water pressure evolution) in the rough fractures were simulated and analyzed. The simulation results assisted in understanding the evolution of seepage characteristics in rough fractures with varied intersecting angles under different stresses. In this study, for rock matrix, the anti-analysis technique was employed to import the kriging method into MATLAB based on the surface permeability of the rock blocks. Furthermore, the cuboid model developed by COMSOL™ and MATLAB was used to characterize the internal permeability of the rock blocks to obtain the effective permeability by using the obtained permeability spatial distribution. In this context, the total flow through the nonuniform area was estimated and the geometric mean was proposed as an appropriate measure. Moreover, the developed program provides a nondestructive method to estimate the effective permeability of large rock samples under excavation disturbance.

Abstract Estimation of modal wavenumbers is important for inference of geoacoustic properties and data-driven matched field processing in shallow water waveguides. This paper introduces a deep neural network called combining physical informed neural network (CPINN) for modal wavenumber estimation using a vertical linear array (VLA). Note that the sound field recorded by a VLA can be expressed as a linear superposition of finite modal depth functions, and the differential equations satisfied by the modal depth functions are related to the corresponding modal wavenumbers. CPINN can estimate the modal wavenumbers by introducing the proxies of the modal depth functions and constraining them to satisfy the corresponding differential equations. The performance of the CPINN is evaluated by simulated data in a noisy shallow water environment. Numerical results show that, when compared with the previous methods, CPINN does not need to know the exact horizontal distance between the sound source and the VLA. Moreover, CPINN can estimate the modal wavenumbers at the VLA position in the case where the range segment traversed by the source, i.e., the aperture in the range direction, is smaller than the maximum modal cycle distance and in a range-dependent waveguide.
