Abstract Due to the unique anatomical structure and physiological barriers of the eye, drug delivery for ocular diseases presents a formidable challenge. Conventional methods of ocular drug administration often suffer from limitations such as low drug bioavailability and a lack of tissue targeting, necessitating multiple administrations to achieve the desired therapeutic drug concentrations. In recent years, microneedles, known for their attributes of safety, minimally invasive application, and high efficiency, have found widespread application in ocular drug delivery research. Among the various types of microneedles, dissolving polymer microneedles have emerged as a prominent focus in the field of ocular drug delivery due to their distinct advantages over other microneedle types. This article provides a comprehensive summary and outlook on the progress in the application of dissolving polymer microneedles for drug delivery in ocular diseases.

Abstract Three-body decay is a rare decay mode observed in a handful of unbound rare isotopes. The angular and energy correlations between emitted nucleons are of particular interest, as they provide invaluable information on the interplay between structure and reaction aspects of the nuclear open quantum system. To study the mechanism of two-nucleon emission, we developed a time-dependent approach that allows us to probe emitted nucleons at long times and large distances. We successfully benchmarked the new method against the Green's function approach and applied it to low-energy two-proton and two-neutron decays. In particular, we studied the interplay between initial-state nucleon-nucleon correlations and final-state interaction. We demonstrated that the time evolution of the two-nucleon wave function is strongly impacted by the diproton/dineutron dynamics and that the correlations between emitted nucleons provide invaluable information on the dinucleon structure in the initial state.

Abstract Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze the pregnancy outcomes of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension to provide a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Patients and methods: Clinical data of 94 patients with a pregnancy complicated by pulmonary hypertension were retrospectively analyzed. The means and percentages of the pregnancy outcomes were calculated, and the analysis of variance, Chi-square test, and Fisher's exact test were applied for comparison.
Results: The pregnancy outcomes were less favorable in the severe pulmonary arterial hypertension group compared to the mild and moderate groups. The more severe the pulmonary arterial hypertension, the worse the heart function. A poorer heart function was associated with a poorer prognosis across different pregnancy outcomes.
Conclusions: A pregnancy with more severe pulmonary arterial hypertension and worse cardiac function has a poorer maternal and infant prognosis and pregnancy outcome. Cesarean section is the preferred delivery method for patients with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension, whereas vaginal delivery is preferred for patients with mild or moderate pulmonary arterial hypertension and good cardiac function.

Abstract Ground-state two-proton (2p) radioactivity is a rare decay mode found in a few very proton-rich isotopes. The 2p decay lifetime and properties of emitted protons carry invaluable information on nuclear structure in the presence of a low-lying proton continuum. The recently measured 2p decay of ^{67}Kr turned out to be unexpectedly fast. Since ^{67}Kr is expected to be a deformed system, we investigate the impact of deformation effects on the 2p radioactivity. We apply the recently developed Gamow coupled-channel framework, which allows for a precise description of three-body systems in the presence of rotational and vibrational couplings. This is the first application of a three-body approach to a two-nucleon decay from a deformed nucleus. We show that deformation couplings significantly increase the 2p decay width of ^{67}Kr; this finding explains the puzzling experimental data. The calculated angular proton-proton correlations reflect a competition between 1p and 2p decay modes in this nucleus.

Abstract Liver failure is a serious stage during liver disease development of which mobidity is high. There is no effective treatment at present.Artificial liver support system is one of the important methods to treat liver failure which includes non-biological artificial liver, biological artificial liver and hybrid artificial liver. Among the artificial liver devices. The bioartificial liver is the most similar artifical liver device to human liver in terms of detoxification, synthesis and metabolism currently. The complexity of human liver function makes the biological artificial liver facing great challenges in selection of liver seed cells, construction of bioreactor and the best combination with auxiliary device, which leads to the slow development of bioartificial liver. In order to provide theoretical support for the study of bioartificial liver, the current status and its development are reviewed in the following aspects, the source of seed cells, the construction of bioreactor, the combination of auxiliary devices and the clinical application of bioartificial liver in this article.
