Abstract Pedestrian detection and tracking based on computer vision has gradually become an international pattern recognition, which is one of the most active research topics in the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence. Using the theoretical results in the field of pattern recognition and computer vision technology, we are committed to detect and track pedestrians from video sequences. In addition to computer vision-based passer-by detection and tracking technology as the key, in the advanced computer vision action and analysis, it has a direct impact on the accuracy and robustness of its understanding. We analyzed various targets, such as subsequent recognition motion and pedestrian motion, and described them as high-level application processing, such as action understanding. In addition, because of the unique texture of human clothes compared with the surrounding natural landscape, they are highly "prominent" from the perspective of human visual system, and they are particularly prominent in the peripheral part of human contact with the background. In this paper, a binary function based on importance is proposed. As the space representation of image itself is not sensitive to noise and local signal, space representation is used. In addition, as an observation model, it can reduce the adverse effects of background noise and local noise on the tracking algorithm. Through the function block tracking, the pedestrian's body can be tracked in detail. At the same time, the color band learning method is used to update the target template online to deal with the changes of target appearance caused by sunshine, pedestrian posture, and other factors. According to the experimental results, even if the appearance and posture of pedestrians change greatly, it has a stable tracking effect.

Abstract With a growth of surveillance cameras, the amount of captured videos expands. Manually analyzing and retrieving surveillance video is labor intensive and expensive. It would be much more convenient to generate a video digest, with which we can view the video in a fast and motion-preserving way. In this paper, we propose a novel video synopsis approach to generate condensed video, which uses an object tracking method for extracting important objects. This method will generate video tubes and a seam carving method to condense the original video. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method can achieve a high condensation rate while preserving all the important objects of interest. Therefore, this approach can enable users to view the surveillance video with great efficiency.

Abstract Rhizoma Dioscoreae Nipponicae (RDN) is a traditional Chinese medicine that widely applied in the treatment of human diseases. This study aims to explore the therapeutic potential of RDN in asthma and the underlying mechanisms. A mouse model of asthma was established by the stimulation of ovalbumin (OVA). HE staining was performed to detect the pathological injuries of tracheal tissues. The protein expression of collagen I, FN1, α-SMA (airway remodeling markers), and p-p38 (a marker of the p38 MAPK pathway) were detected by Western blot. Eosinophils were then isolated from the model mice. Cell viability and ROS level were measured by CCK-8 and Flow cytometry, respectively. The mRNA expression of GPX4 and ACSL4 (ferroptosis markers) in eosinophils were measured by qRT-PCR. RDN significantly reduced the numbers of total cells and eosnophils in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), inhibited inflammatory cell infiltration, and down-regulated remodeling markers (Collagen I, FN1, and α-SMA) in OVA-induced mice. The p38 MAPK pathway was blocked by the intervention of RDN in the model mice, and its blocking weakens the poor manifestations of OVA-induced asthma. In addition, RDN induced the ferroptosis of eosnophils both in vitro and in vivo. Blocking of the p38 MAPK pathway also enhanced the ferroptosis of eosnophils in vitro, evidenced by the decreased cell viability and GPX4 expression, and increased ROS level and ACSL4 expression. RDN induced the ferroptosis of eosinophils through inhibiting the p38 MAPK pathway, contributing to the remission of asthma.

Abstract In this work, two types of 590 MPa grade steels, composed of NiCrMo steel and Cu-bearing steel, were processed using traditional offline quenching and tempering and direct quenching (DQ) and tempering. The influence of DQ on microstructural evolution and strengthening mechanisms of these two types of steel was investigated. Grain refinement and dislocation density increase were determined by controlled rolling and following the DQ process in both two types of steel. In Cu-bearing steels, the refined grains and high-density dislocation further promoted the precipitation behavior of Cu-rich particles and alloyed carbides during the tempering treatment. Compared with traditionally quenched and tempered steels, NiCrMo steels after the direct quenching and tempering (DQT) process achieved 106 MPa higher yield strength through grain refinement strengthening and dislocation strengthening, while the Cu-bearing steels after the DQT process achieved 159 MPa higher yield strength through grain refinement strengthening, dislocation strengthening, and precipitation strengthening. The contribution degree of different strengthening mechanisms was quantitatively analyzed. Grain refinement also compensated for the toughness loss caused by the increase in dislocation, leading to an impact energy of 237 J and 248 J at -84 °C for NiCrMo and Cu-bearing steels after DQT, respectively.

Abstract The aim of the study was to investigate the miR-10b regulatory mechanism for epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and its effect on the proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. RT-qPCR was used to detect the expression of miR-10b in CNE1 nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line. The NP69 nasopharyngeal mucosal cell line was used to determine the expression of miR-10b after infection with lentivirus. The effect of miR-10b on the proliferation of NP69 was examined using cell counting kit-8. The effect of miR-10b on NP69 migration was examined using scratch assay. Western blot analysis was used to detect the effects of miR-10b on the expression of epithelial cell markers E-cadherin and β-catenin and mesenchymal cell markers fibronectin, N-cadherin, vimentin and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). The present study showed that miR-10b was highly expressed in CNE1 cells. The stable expression of miR-10b promoted the proliferation and migration of NP69 cells, downregulated the expression of epithelial cell markers E-cadherin and β-catenin, and upregulated the expression of mesenchymal cell markers fibronectin, N-cadherin, vimentin and MMP-9 resulting in cell EMT. In conclusion, miR-10b promotes the proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells, and induces EMT in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells, thereby having the potential to become a new target for the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Abstract Human Papillomavirus infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection, and causes serious complications such as cervical cancer in vulnerable female populations in regions such as East Africa. Due to the scarcity of empirical data about sexual relationships in varying demographics, computationally modelling the underlying sexual contact networks is important to understand Human Papillomavirus infection dynamics and prevention strategies. In this work we present SeCoNet, a heterosexual contact network growth model for Human Papillomavirus disease simulation. The growth model consists of three mechanisms that closely imitate real-world relationship forming and discontinuation processes in sexual contact networks. We demonstrate that the networks grown from this model are scale-free, as are the real world sexual contact networks, and we demonstrate that the model can be calibrated to fit different demographic contexts by using a range of parameters. We also undertake disease dynamics analysis of Human Papillomavirus infection using a compartmental epidemic model on the grown networks. The presented SeCoNet growth model is useful to computational epidemiologists who study sexually transmitted infections in general and Human Papillomavirus infection in particular.
