    Abstract We show that a random interacting model exhibits solvable non-Fermi-liquid behavior and exotic pairing behavior. This model, dubbed as the Yukawa-SYK model, describes the random Yukawa coupling between M quantum dots each hosting N flavors of fermions and N^{2} bosons that self-tune to criticality at low energies. The diagrammatic expansion is controlled by 1/MN, and the results become exact in a large-M, large-N limit. We find that pairing only develops within a region of the (M,N) plane-even though the pairing interaction is strongly attractive, the incoherence of the fermions can spoil the forming of Cooper pairs, rendering the system a non-Fermi liquid down to zero temperature. By solving the Eliashberg equation and the renormalization group equation, we show that the transition into the pairing phase exhibits Kosterlitz-Thouless quantum-critical behavior.

    Abstract Though drought is known to affect biogenic emissions of volatile organic compounds (BVOC), its effect on isoprene and formaldehyde (HCHO), a high yield product of isoprene, has not been investigated in East Asia where incidences of drought have increased in recent years. In this work, we analyzed the impact of drought on HCHO in the South Korea region during the summer period (June, July, and August) from 2005 to 2018 and found increased HCHO due to drought.     Abstract Particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) has been implicated in lung injury and various cancers, yet its precise mechanistic role remains elusive. To elucidate the key signaling pathways underpinning PM2.5-induced lung cancer progression, we embarked on a study examining the impact of PM2.5 both in vitro and in vivo. Lung cancer cell lines, A549 and H157, were employed for the in vitro investigations. Overexpression or knockdown techniques targeting the hnRNPA2B1 protein were implemented. Lung cancer cells were treated with a medium containing PM2.5 and subsequently prepared for in vitro evaluations. Cell growth, invasion, and migration were gauged using transwell and CCK-8 assays. Apoptosis was ascertained through flow cytometry and western blotting of pertinent proteins. Seahorse analyses probed the influence of PM2.5 on lung cancer energy metabolism. The RNA stability assay was employed to discern the impact of PM2.5 on the stability of oxidative phosphorylation-related genes in lung cancer. Our findings revealed that PM2.5 augmented cell proliferation, migration, and invasion rates. Similarly, a diminished apoptosis rate was observed in PM2.5-treated cells. Elevated expression of hnRNPA2B1 was detected in lung cancer cells exposed to PM2.5. Moreover, in cells treated with PM2.5, hnRNPA2B1 knockdown markedly curtailed cell proliferation by inducing G1-S cell cycle arrest and bolstered lung cancer cell apoptosis in vitro; it also curbed xenograft tumor growth. Mechanistically, our data suggest that PM2.5 undermines the stability of mRNA transcripts associated with oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and augments the formation of processing bodies (P-bodies), leading to an upsurge in OXPHOS levels. In conclusion, PM2.5 appears to drive lung cancer progression and migration by modulating the energy metabolism of lung cancer in a hnRNPA2B1-dependent manner.

    Abstract Background: The potential protective effects of dietary fiber against all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease have not been definitively established. To verify this relationship, a systematic review and a meta-analysis were undertaken.
    Methods: PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, ProQuest, and CINAHL were used to systematically search for prospective cohort studies that investigate the association between dietary fiber and all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and cardiovascular disease in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This search was conducted up to and including March 2023.
    Results: The analysis included 10 cohort studies, with a total of 19,843 patients who were followed up for 1.5-10.1 y. The results indicated a significant negative correlation between dietary fiber and all-cause mortality among patients with CKD (HR 0.80, 95% CI 0.58-0.97, P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis further revealed that the study population and exposure factors were significantly associated with all-cause mortality (P < 0.001). Increased dietary fiber intake was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular mortality (HR 0.78; 95% CI 0.67-0.90) and a reduced incidence of cardiovascular disease (HR 0.87; 95% CI 0.80-0.95) among patients with CKD.
    Conclusions: The pooled results of our meta-analysis indicated an inverse association between dietary fiber intake and all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and cardiovascular disease.

    Abstract Chinese media companies are facing opportunities and challenges brought about by digital transformation. Media economics takes the evaluation of the business results of media companies as the main research topic. However, overcoming the internal differences in the industry and comprehensively predicting the digital transformation of Chinese media companies from multiple dimensions has become an important issue to be understood. Based on the "TOE-I" theoretical framework, this study innovatively uses machine learning methods to predict the digital transformation of Chinese media companies and to analyze specific modes of the main driving factors affecting the digital transformation, using data from China's A-share-listed media companies from 2010 to 2020. The study found that environmental drivers can most effectively and accurately predict the digital transformation of Chinese media companies. Therefore, under sustained and stable economic and financial policies, guiding inter-industry competition and providing balanced digital infrastructure conditions are keys to bridging internal barriers in the media industry and promoting digital transformation. In the process of transformation from traditional content to digital production, media companies should focus on policy changes, economic benefits, the decision-making role of core managers, and the training and preservation of digital technology talent.

    Abstract Microenvironmental viscosity is a crucial parameter for biological systems, and its abnormal fluctuations are closely associated with various functional disorders and diseases. However, it is still important and urgent to develop improved near-infrared fluorescent probes for micro-viscosity with dual-organelle targeting properties, low background noise, and high sensitivity. Herein, two BODIPY-based small-molecule fluorescent probes were designed and synthesized, which were explored for their viscosity- and polarity-responsive properties, and were further applied to imaging sub-cellular viscosity in living cells. Interestingly, BSZ-Ph and BSZ-R displayed near-infrared fluorescence (more than 650 nm) and were sensitive to environmental viscosity and polarity due to the introduction of a benzothiazole at the 2-position and electron-rich aniline groups at the 5-position of the BODIPY core, respectively. The fluorescence intensity increased exponentially with the viscosity changes. Furthermore, the probe BSZ-Ph could successfully target lipid droplets and image cellular viscosity changes by treating lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and nystatin. Comparatively, the probe BSZ-R could successfully target the dual organelles of lipid droplets and lysosomes and image cellular viscosity changes by treating LPS and monensin. Therefore, in this work, we reported two new BODIPY-based near-infrared fluorescent probes, BSZ-Ph and BSZ-R, for cellular viscosity imaging, which could target lipid droplets and the dual organelles of lysosomes and lipid droplets, respectively. The study could provide a reference for the future development of fluorescent probes for viscosity in lipid droplets and lysosomes.

    Abstract This study aims to investigate the predictability of surrogate safety measures (SSMs) for real-time crash risk prediction. We conducted a year-long drone video collection on a busy freeway in Nanjing, China, and collected 20 rear-end crashes. The predictability of SSMs was defined as the probability of crash occurrence when using SSMs as precursors to crashes. Ridge regression models were established to explore contributing factors to the predictability of SSMs. Four commonly used SSMs were tested in this study. It was found that modified time-to-collision (MTTC) outperformed other SSMs when the early warning capability was set at a minimum of 1 s. We further investigated the cost and benefit of SSMs in safety interventions by evaluating the number of necessary predictions for successful crash prediction and the proportion of crashes that can be predicted accurately. The result demonstrated these SSMs were most efficient in proactive safety management systems with an early warning capability of 1 s. In this case, 308, 131, 281, and 327,661 predictions needed to be made before a crash could be successfully predicted by TTC, MTTC, DRAC, and PICUD, respectively, achieving 75 %, 85 %, 35 %, and 100 % successful crash identifications. The ridge regression results indicated that the predefined threshold had the greatest impact on the predictability of all tested SSMs.

    Abstract Though drought is known to affect biogenic emissions of volatile organic compounds (BVOC), its effect on isoprene and formaldehyde (HCHO), a high yield product of isoprene, has not been investigated in East Asia where incidences of drought have increased in recent years. In this work, we analyzed the impact of drought on HCHO in the South Korea region during the summer period (June, July, and August) from 2005 to 2018 and found increased HCHO due to drought. The tropospheric HCHO column density retrieved by OMI increased by 8.02 % during extreme drought compared to the non-drought period, whereas no significant effect of drought on the NO₂ column was found. Regional variation of HCHO response to drought correlates significantly with the tree percentage of the region. This correlation indicates that the drought-led HCHO increases are most likely driven by the increase in isoprene emissions during drought. Indeed, model predicts isoprene emissions to be higher by 27.87 % during the extreme drought compared to the non-drought period in South Korea. From 2005 to 2018, the HCHO column has been increasing in South Korea by 0.16 × 10¹⁵ molecules/cm²/year (1.56 % per year) during summer months, correlated with the increasing incidences of drought. HCHO increase is linked to higher ozone as most of South Korea is in the NOx-saturated or transitional regime.
