Abstract The loss of flight is common in the keratin beetle genus Phoberus Macleay, 1819 (Coleoptera: Trogidae)-20 out of the 49 species in this genus exhibit metathoracic-wing reduction in various degrees rendering them flightless. In this paper another flightless species, Phoberus villeti Strümpher, new species, is described and illustrated from the Amathole mountains in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The new species is micropterous having tightly fused elytra (only wing rudiments visible), rounded humeral angles and a characteristic rounded body shape. However, it is most notable for its large size (~12 mm) and the distinctive tufts of yellow setae present on the elytra.

Abstract A simple zipper model is introduced, representing in a simplified way, e.g., the folded DNA double helix or hairpin structures in RNA. The double stranded hairpin is connected to a heat bath at temperature $T$ and subject to an external force $f$, which couples to the free length $L$ of the unzipped sequence. Increasing the force, leads to an zipping/unzipping first-order phase transition at a critical force $f_c(T)$ in the thermodynamic limit of a very large chain. We compute analytically, as a function of temperature $T$ and force $f$, the full distribution $P(L)$ of free lengths in the thermodynamic limit and show that it is qualitatively very different for $f<f_c$, $f=f_c$ and $f>f_c$. Next we consider quasistatic work processes where the force is incremented according to a linear protocol. Having obtained $P(L)$ already allows us to derive an analytical expression for the work distribution $P(W)$ in the zipped phase $f<f_c$ for a long chain. We compute the large-deviation tails of the work distribution explicitly. Our analytical result for the work distribution is compared over a large range of the support down to probabilities as small as $10^{-200}$ with numerical simulations, which were performed by applying sophisticated large-deviation algorithms.<br />

Abstract A new species of keratin beetle from Western India, Omorgus (Omorgus) khandesh Strümpher & Kalawate, new species, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically most similar to O. (O.) rimulosus (Haaf, 1957). The latter is redescribed and illustrated to enable accurate recognition of both species. Based on this work the following taxonomic changes are proposed: Three species are transferred from the subgenus Afromorgus Scholtz, 1986 to the nominotypical subgenus: O. (O.) inclusus (Walker 1858), O. (O.) maissouri (Haaf, 1945a) and O. (O.) rimulosus (Haaf, 1957). Lastly, we include an annotated catalogue of the species of the nominotypical subgenus Omorgus known from the Oriental and Palaearctic regions.

Abstract The body of knowledge regarding dementia worry - people's sense of threat about developing dementia - is still limited. Additional studies are essential to better understand levels of dementia worry and its correlates, especially in cross-cultural contexts. To reach this goal, it is critical to use structured and valid measures to assess dementia worry and to verify these measures in different languages. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Hebrew version of the Modified Dementia Worry Scale (the H-MDWS). A cross-sectional study using an online survey was conducted with 368 Israeli laypeople who were 18 years of age or older (53% women, 76% Jewish, mean age = 40, average years of education = 14). In addition to the H-MDWS, participants were asked to report their fear of Alzheimer's disease (using a dichotomous single item), stigma, health anxiety, and demographic characteristics. Reliability analyses showed that the Cronbach's alpha for the H-MDWS was excellent (α = 0.95). The results of the factor analysis demonstrated that the scale has a unidimensional structure, explaining over 66% of the variance. In addition, we found significant correlations between fear of developing Alzheimer's disease, stigma, and health anxiety, on the one hand, and the H-MDWS on the other. The H-MDWS is a reliable and valid tool for assessing dementia worry. The validation of the tool not only allows expanding the body of knowledge related to dementia worry, but will also allow professionals and caregivers to identify people who are at risk of reporting dementia worry and develop interventions accordingly.

Abstract With current projections indicating that the number of persons with dementia will continue to rise in the near future (Alzheimer Disease International, 2018), dementia is now recognized as a public health priority worldwide. Despite the great efforts and budgets invested; as of yet, no cure or highly effective treatments for dementia are available. Thus, the development of care practices to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of persons with dementia and their caregivers have become primary aims in the management of the condition (Ortega et al., 2018).
