Abstract Coastal levees play a role in protecting coastal areas from storm surges and high waves, and they provide important input information for inundation damage simulations. However, coastal levee data with uniformity and sufficient accuracy for inundation simulations are not always well developed. Against this background, this study proposed a method to extract coastal levees by inputting high spatial resolution optical satellite image products (RGB images, digital surface models (DSMs), and slope images that can be generated from DSM images), which have high data availability at the locations and times required for simulation, into a deep learning model. The model is based on U-Net, and post-processing for noise removal was introduced to further improve its accuracy. We also proposed a method to calculate levee height using a local maximum filter by giving DSM values to the extracted levee pixels. The validation was conducted in the coastal area of Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan as a test area. The levee mask images for training were manually created by combining these data with satellite images and Google Street View, because the levee GIS data created by the Ibaraki Prefectural Government were incomplete in some parts. First, the deep learning models were compared and evaluated, and it was shown that U-Net was more accurate than Pix2Pix and BBS-Net in identifying levees. Next, three cases of input images were evaluated: (Case 1) RGB image only, (Case 2) RGB and DSM images, and (Case 3) RGB, DSM, and slope images. Case 3 was found to be the most accurate, with an average Matthews correlation coefficient of 0.674. The effectiveness of noise removal post-processing was also demonstrated. In addition, an example of the calculation of levee heights was presented and evaluated for validity. In conclusion, this method was shown to be effective in extracting coastal levees. The evaluation of generalizability and use in actual inundation simulations are future tasks.

Abstract Previous studies on the relationship between mental health literacy and psychological distress were rich, but little was known about the influence mechanism between them, and almost no research was found on the role of psychological resilience and subjective socio-economic status in the relationship between them. This study used a moderated mediation model to test the mediating effect of psychological resilience on the relationship between mental health literacy and psychological distress, and the moderating effect of subjective socioeconomic status in Chinese adolescents. We investigated 700 junior high school students in Inner Mongolia, China through online survey. The results are as follows: (1) Mental health literacy is a negative predictor of adolescents' psychological distress; (2) psychological resilience mediated the association between mental health literacy and psychological distress; (3) The first half of the model, that is, the relationship between mental health literacy and psychological resilience, is moderated by subjective socioeconomic status. Specifically, for adolescents with low subjective socioeconomic status, the positive predictive effect of mental health literacy on psychological resilience is obviously enhanced. The current findings would contribute to a deep understanding of the relationship among adolescents' mental health literacy, psychological resilience, subjective socioeconomic status and psychological distress, which may be of great significance to the prevention of adolescents' psychological distress.

Abstract Most visual–inertial navigation systems (VINSs) suffer from moving objects and achieve poor positioning accuracy in dynamic environments. Therefore, to improve the positioning accuracy of VINS in dynamic environments, a monocular visual–inertial navigation system, VINS-dimc, is proposed. This system integrates various constraints on the elimination of dynamic feature points, which helps to improve the positioning accuracy of VINSs in dynamic environments. First, the motion model, computed from the inertial measurement unit (IMU) data, is subjected to epipolar constraint and flow vector bound (FVB) constraint to eliminate feature matching that deviates significantly from the motion model. This algorithm then combines multiple feature point matching constraints that avoid the lack of single constraints and make the system more robust and universal. Finally, VINS-dimc was proposed, which can adapt to a dynamic environment. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm could accurately eliminate the dynamic feature points on moving objects while preserving the static feature points. It is a great help for the positioning accuracy and robustness of VINSs, whether they are from self-collected data or public datasets.

Abstract Fertility preservation through ovarian stimulation, aiming at cryopreserving mature oocytes or embryos, is sometimes unsuccessful. This clinical situation deserves novel approaches to overcome infertility following cancer treatment in patients facing highly gonadotoxic treatment. In this controlled experimental study, we investigated the feasibility of in-vitro culturing secondary follicles isolated from superovulated ovaries of mice recently treated with gonadotropins. The follicle yields of superovulated ovaries were 45.9% less than in unstimulated controls. Follicles from superovulated ovaries showed faster growth pace during the initial 7 days of culture and secreted more 17β-estradiol by the end of culture vs controls. Parameters reflecting the outcome of follicular development and oocyte maturation competence in vitro were similar between superovulated and control groups, with a similar follicle size at the end of culture and around 70% survival. Nearly half of cultured follicles met the criteria for in-vitro maturation in both groups and approximately 60% of those achieved a mature MII oocyte, similarly in both groups. Over 60% of obtained MII oocytes displayed normal-looking spindle and chromosome configurations, without significant differences between the groups. Using a validated follicle culture system, we demonstrated the feasibility of secondary follicle isolation, in-vitro culture and oocyte maturation with normal spindle and chromosome configurations obtained from superovulated mice ovaries.

Abstract AIM: To explore the value of ocular trauma score(OTS), initial visual acuity, and ocular structural parameters in the assessment of healing visual acuity from ocular trauma.METHOD: A total of 302 cases(302 eyes)of ocular trauma were selected as subjects, which were accepted and issued clear appraisal opinions by the Academy of Forensic Science from June 2015 to June 2021. The subjects were grouped according to the healing best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)from ocular trauma. Group Ⅰ included 63 cases(63 eyes)with BCVA <3.7; Group Ⅱ included 70 cases(70 eyes)with 3.7≤ BCVA <4.5; Group Ⅲ included 78 cases(78 eyes)with 4.5≤ BCVA <4.9; Group Ⅳ included 91 cases(91 eyes)with BCVA≥4.9. In addition, 77 cases(77 healthy eyes)of ocular trauma were selected as the control group, namely Group Ⅴ. The healing BCVA and ocular structural parameters from ocular trauma and theirs correlation were analyzed, and the random forest(RF)and support vector machine(SVM)model of healing visual acuity was established by the IBM SPSS Modeler 18.0.RESULTS: The initial visual acuity, OTS, the grading of corneas, lenses, and fundus, and the thickness of the retinal never fiber layer of ocular trauma patients were correlated with the healing BCVA(P<0.01). There were significant differences in ocular structural parameters among groups, except the central subfield thickness(P<0.001). The SVM model had higher accuracy of predicting healing visual acuity than the RF model, and the accuracy rate was over 80% when the error was within 0.15.CONCLUSION:OTS and ocular structural examination can provide effective information for the clinical forensic medicine appraisal of visual dysfunction after ocular trauma, and they are valuable in discriminating camouflage of visual dysfunction.

Title translation Evaluation of ecological conservation red line from the perspective of ecological security pattern: Taking Zhejiang Province, China as an example.
Abstract To investigate the scientificity of the ecological conservation red line in Zhejiang Province, we evaluated the ecological effect based on the concept of ecosystem processes from the perspective of ecological security pattern. On the basis of clarifying the triple connotation of the ecological conservation red line, we constructed an evaluation index system to identify ecological sources and evaluate the importance of red line patches with InVEST model and net primary productivity quantitative analysis. Minimum resistance model and gravity model were used to construct the ecological corridors and evaluate the connectivity of red line. Moreover, landscape pattern index and overlay analysis were applied to evaluate the fragmentation and coordination of red line. The results showed that, from the perspective of ecological importance, the protection scale in Zhejiang Province was relatively large, but 13.5% of the red line areas were not of high importance. About 40% of the provincial ecological sources were not included in the ecological conservation red line. From the perspective of spatial structure, the connectivity of the ecological conservation red line was insufficient. The protection rate of the first-level ecological corridor was less than 15%. The red line patches in some counties and cities were relatively broken. From the perspective of natural-social system coordination, cross-administrative red line areas were well connected. However, it was still necessary to pay attention to the fact that the conflict between supply and demand in the plain area had led to spatial mismatch and fragmentation of red line. Using the ecological security pattern for reference, we put forward the relevant strategies of red line optimization and adjustment, which could provide scientific reference for ecological space management.

Abstract Increasing evidence has shown that vascular aging has a key role in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases. P300/CBP-associated factor (PCAF) is involved in many vascular pathological processes, but the role of PCAF in vascular aging is unknown. This study aims to explore the role and underlying mechanism of PCAF in vascular aging. The results demonstrated that the expression of PCAF was associated with age and aging, and remarkably increased expression of PCAF was present in human atherosclerotic coronary artery. Downregulation of PCAF could reduce angiotensin II (AngII)-induced senescence of rat aortic endothelial cells (ECs) in vitro. In addition, inhibition of PCAF with garcinol alleviated AngII-induced vascular senescence phenotype in mice. Downregulation of PCAF could alleviate AngII-induced oxidative stress injury in ECs and vascular tissue. Moreover, PCAF and nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) could interact directly, and downregulation of PCAF alleviated vascular aging by promoting the activation of Nrf2 and enhancing the expression of its downstream anti-aging factors. The silencing of Nrf2 with small interfering RNA attenuated the protective effect of PCAF downregulation from vascular aging. These findings indicate that downregulation of PCAF alleviates oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2 signaling pathway and ultimately inhibits vascular aging. Thus, PCAF may be a promising target for aging-related cardiovascular disease.

Abstract Background: Retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS) is a variety of soft tissue sarcoma that originates from mesenchymal cells. A tumor measuring greater than 30 cm is called a "giant liposarcoma." A part of the neoplasm tends to grow in size, recur locally, or metastasize distantly. In those with such a condition, long-term survival is uncommon. Therefore, it is necessary to present a uniform and optimized program to improve the prognosis.
Methods: By successfully treating a multiple-recurrent giant retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma (RP DDLPS) in July 2010, we hope to devise more comprehensive strategies to improve diagnosis, therapy, and outcome.
Results: In July 2010, we thoroughly resected a giant multifocal RPLS with a concomitant part of the gastric wall. The histopathological examination revealed a high-grade (grade III) dedifferentiated liposarcoma. The patient was discharged uneventfully on the 15th postoperative day. She relapsed after 16 months and needed another complete excision. After 9 months, she died after the fourth recidive. The patient had experienced four recurrences and underwent operations with 15 years of follow-up.
Conclusions: The above demonstrates that we were able to successfully treat the multirecurrent giant RPLS, despite the patient's poor medical condition, with meticulous management. Moreover, this indicates that long-term survival could be achieved for high-grade RP DDLPS.

Abstract The sole application of nitrogen (N) fertilizer with lower N₂O emission potential or combined with biochar may help for mitigating N₂O production. However, how biochar applied with various inorganic N fertilizers affected N₂O emission in acidic soil remains unclear. Thus, we examined N₂O emission, soil N dynamics and relating nitrifiers (i.e., ammonia-oxidizing archaea, AOA) in acidic soil. The study contained three N fertilizers (including NH₄Cl, NaNO₃, NH₄NO₃) and two biochar application rates (i.e., 0% and 0.5%). The results indicated that the alone application of NH₄Cl produced more N₂O. Meanwhile, the co-application of biochar and N fertilizers enhanced N₂O emission as well, especially in the combined treatment of biochar and NH₄NO₃. Soil pH was decreased with the application of various N fertilizers, especially with NH₄Cl, and the average decrease rate was 9.6%. Meanwhile, correlation analysis showed a negative relationship between N₂O and pH, dramatically, which might indicate that the alteration of pH was one factor relating to N₂O emission. However, there was no difference between the same N addition treatments with or without biochar on pH. Interestingly, in the combined treatment of biochar and NH₄NO₃, the lowest net nitrification rate and net mineralization rate appeared during days 16–23. Meanwhile, the highest emission rate of N₂O in the same treatment also appeared during days 16–23. The accordance might indicate that N transformation alteration was another factor relating to N₂O emissions. In addition, compared to NH₄NO₃ alone application, co-applied with biochar had a lower content of Nitrososphaera-AOA, which was a main contributor to nitrification. The study emphasizes the importance of using a suitable form of N fertilizers and further indicates that two factors, namely alteration of pH and N transformation rate, are related to N₂O emission. Moreover, in future studies, it is necessary to explore the soil N dynamics controlled by microorganisms.

Abstract PURPOSE: Biochar plays an active role in increasing crop yield and improving soil quality due to its unique properties and structure. However, the physical and chemical properties of biochar also change over time after applying to the soil, which is referred to as aging. The distinction between modifying soil fertility and soil nutrient status is uncertain (especially in soil potassium levels). MATERIALS AND METHODS: We used three approaches to simulate aging progress of biochar, including acidification (AB), dry–wet cycle (DWB), and freezing–thawing cycling (FB). We used element analyzer, BET-N adsorption method, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to observe the difference in physical and chemical properties between original biochar (OB) and aged biochar (AB, DWB, and FB). In addition, we undertook pot experiment to assess the impact of original biochar and aged biochar on soil fertility status, soil enzyme activities, and the growth of cabbage, especially in the difference in promoting soil potassium (K) level. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The main results were as follows: Original biochar and aged biochar improved soil fertility and cabbage growth, but the improvement effect of aged biochar on soil environment was weakened. Among all-aged biochars, the AB had the worst effect on the soil environment. Compared to without biochar treatment (CK), the water-soluble K, available K, exchangeable K, and non-exchangeable K were increased by 43.60%, 45.56%, 46.49%, and 44.30%, respectively, under original biochar treatment. However, the promotion effect of soil potassium level was significantly decreased under the AB treatment. Additionally, the C and N content of biochar increased with aged biochar treatment, and the increasing trend was further obvious after applying it to the soil. Moreover, aged biochar treatment affected the surface of biochar, and was more susceptible to erosion in the soil by long-term water leaching. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the impacts of aged biochar on cabbage growth and soil fertility were inhibited compared to original biochar treatment, further providing a basis and reference for the proper application of biochar in agriculture production.
