Abstract Objective: To understand the status of media exposure, social support, self-efficacy, and health literacy among middle-aged and older adults in China, and explore the impact path of media exposure on the health literacy of this population, providing a reference for promoting their physical and mental health.
Methods: From July to November 2022, a multi-stage random sampling method was employed to survey 16,938 Chinese middle-aged and older adults aged 46 and above. Structural equation modeling and statistical analysis were conducted using LISREL 8.8 and Mplus 8.3 software.
Results: The average score for media exposure among Chinese middle-aged and older adults was (18.55±5.36), perceived social support was (60.68±12.51), self-efficacy was (28.76±5.40), and health literacy was (35.49±6.05). Statistical results revealed that media exposure has a positive impact on the health literacy of middle-aged and older adults, with a direct effect of 0.091 (
Conclusion: As a pathway for health information dissemination, media exposure plays a crucial role in the intervention of health literacy among middle-aged and older adults. Perceived social support and self-efficacy not only have independent mediating effects but also significant chain mediating effects in the relationship between media exposure and health literacy among this population. Therefore, improving the health literacy of middle-aged and older people can be popularized through media and improved in a multi-path, all-round, and precise way with the help of related technologies and social forces from which media literacy can be improved.

Abstract The effects of Mooney viscosity (MV) of raw rubbers and mass fraction of bound acrylonitrile (wAN) of nitrile rubber (NBR) 3604 and NBR 2707 on tensile strength (Ts), elongation at break (Eb) and degree of swelling (Ds) of the vulcanizates were studied. The results showed that with the increase in MV of raw rubbers, Ts and Eb of NBR 3604 and NBR 2707 vulcanizates all showed a linear increasing trend, whereas their Ds all showed a linear decreasing trend; when MV of raw rubbers of NBR 3604 and NBR 2707 increased by 1 unit, Ts of their vulca-nizates increased by 0.15 MPa and 0.02 MPa respectively, Eb of their vulcanizates increased by 1.13% and 1.30% respectively, and Ds of their vulcanizates decreased by 0.02% and 0.21% respectively. With the increase in wAN, Ts of NBR 3604 and NBR 2707 vulcanizates all showed a linear increasing trend, whereas Eb and Ds of their vulcanizates all showed a linear decreasing trend; when wAN of NBR 3604 and NBR 2707 increased by 1%, Ts of their vulcanizates all increased by 0.04 MPa, Eb of their vulcanizates decreased by 0.08% and 2.77% respectively, and Ds of their vulcanizates decreased by 0.06% and 0.25% respectively.

Abstract Abstract BN‐heteroarenes, which employ both boron and nitrogen in aromatic hydrocarbons, have gained great attention in the fields of organic chemistry and materials science. Nevertheless, the extensive studies on BN‐heteroarenes are largely limited to 1,2‐azaborine‐based compounds with B–N covalent bonds, whereas 1,3‐ and 1,4‐BN‐heteroarenes are relatively rare due to their greater challenge in the synthesis. Recently, significant progresses have been achieved in the synthesis and applications of BN‐heteroarenes featuring 1,4‐azaborines, especially driven by their significant potential as multiresonant thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR‐TADF) materials. Therefore, it is timely to review these advances from the chemistry perspective. This review summarizes the synthetic methods and recent achievements of 1,4‐azaborine‐based BN‐heteroarenes and discusses their unique properties and potential applications of this emerging class of materials, highlighting the value of 1,4‐BN‐heteroarenes beyond MR‐TADF materials. It is hoped that this review would stimulate the conversation and cooperation between chemists who are interested in azaborine chemistry and materials scientists working in the fields of organic optoelectronics, metal catalysis, and carbon‐based nanoscience etc.

Abstract Herein, a novel laccase gene, Melac13220 , was amplified from Methylobacterium extorquens and successfully expressed in Escherichia coli with a molecular weight of approximately 50 kDa. The purified Melac13220 had no absorption peak at 610 nm and remained silent within electron paramagnetic resonance spectra, suggesting that Melac13220 belongs to the non-blue laccase group. Both inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy/optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) indicated that one molecule of Melac13220 can interact with two iron ions. Furthermore, the optimal temperature of Melac13220 was 65 °C. It also showed a high thermolability, and its half-life at 65 °C was 80 min. Melac13220 showed a very good acid environment tolerance; its optimal pH was 1.5. Cu 2+ and Co 2+ can slightly increase enzyme activity, whereas Fe 2+ could increase Melac13220′s activity five-fold. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) indicated that Fe 2+ could also stabilize Melac13220. Unlike most laccases, Melac13220 can efficiently decolorize Congo Red and Indigo Carmine dyes even in the absence of a redox mediator. Thus, the non-blue laccase from Methylobacterium extorquens shows potential application value and may be valuable for environmental protection, especially in the degradation of dyes at low pH.

Abstract Bronchopulmonary foregut malformation (BPFM) is a rare developmental malformation disease due to embryonic defects, with an even rarer occurrence in adults. We report a diagnosed case in an adult patient, and notably, this is the first reported case of such advanced age. Additionally, she experienced coughing up approximately 1 liter of blood and partial lung tissue, accompanied by respiratory failure and shock. Following treatment with transcatheter arterial embolization, her condition improved, and she has remained stable during follow-up. We present a case report and conducted a systematic review on this particular case.

Abstract Embedding both boron and nitrogen into the backbone of acenes to generate their isoelectronic structures has significantly enriched the acene chemistry to offer appealing properties. However, only small BN-heteroacenes have been extensively investigated, with BN-heptacenes as the hitherto longest homologue. Herein, we report the synthesis of three new nonacene BN-isosteres via incorporating a pair of antiaromatic B

Abstract Petroleum coke (petcoke) containing sulphur has limited direct applications, but stockpiling the material creates an environmental issue. Although chemical activation can be used to valorise the petcoke to activated carbon, sulphur is released creating alternative environmental problems. In this study, a new activation method for high sulphur content (∼6.5 wt%) petcoke was developed to retain sulphur and prepare transition metal sulphide catalysts simultaneously. Petcoke was mixed with tungsten and nickel precursors and then activated by KOH at 600 °C in the presence of steam. After washing, the activated petcoke had a sulphur content of 5.1 wt%, which was much higher than that in the absence of steam during activation (0.4 wt%). Sulphur was also retained (>4 wt% of sulphur) when other transition metals including molybdenum and cobalt were used. Characterization by XRD, XPS, and SEM-EDS suggested that sulphur was retained on the activated petcoke in the form of metal sulphides. Further thermodynamic analysis of the system revealed that in the presence of steam an H₂S/H₂ mixture was generated, and this mixture promoted the formation of the metal sulphide species when metal precursors were introduced. The prepared metal sulphide catalysts were active for several reactions including the photoreduction of CO₂. Overall, this study provided an effective method to prepare metal sulphide catalysts from sulphur containing carbonaceous waste.
