    Abstract Chinese citizens’ participation in COVID-19 prevention and control has made great contributions to the successful fight against the pandemic. The factors that have impacted citizens’ participation have rarely been reported based on both social–psychological and political environmental theories. This paper presented a study to explore the determinants of Chinese citizens’ participation in COVID-19 prevention and control based on a combined model of the theory of planned behavior, the norm activation model, and political opportunity structure theory. A dataset involving 463 respondents from Harbin in northeast China was acquired and analyzed. The results showed that the comprehensive model explained 62.9% of the total variance in citizens’ participation behavior. The openness to public participation not only significantly directly influenced citizens’ participation but also indirectly affected participation behaviors through attitude and perceived behavioral control, both of which were important mediators and had the greatest overall impacts. The awareness of consequences and subjective norms were crucial antecedents to the activation of other influencing factors. Personal norms indirectly affected participation behavior through the mediation of attitude. The empirical results showed the comprehensiveness, effectiveness, and high explanatory power of the postulated model. The study also provides both new theoretical perspectives for explaining public participation and useful practical implications for future policy development in promoting citizens’ participation in public health emergency management.

    Abstract Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis, SE) is a foodborne zoonotic pathogen, causing economic losses in animal husbandry and large numbers of human deaths and critically threatening economic development and public health. Human infection with SE has complex transmission routes, involving the environment, animal reservoirs, and water in a One-Health context. Food-producing animals, particularly poultry and livestock, are regarded as the most common sources of SE infection in humans. However, there is little known about the vertical transmission of SE in a One-Health context. In this review, we analyze the ecological significance of SE in a One-Health context. Importantly, we focus on the difference in vertical transmission of SE in poultry, livestock, and humans. We introduce the transmission pathway, describe the immune mechanisms, and discuss the models that could be used for studying the vertical transmission of SE and the strategy that prevention and control for vertical transmission of SE into the future from a One-Health perspective. Together, considering the vertical transmission of SE, it is helpful to provide important insights into the control and decontamination pathways of SE in animal husbandry and enhance knowledge about the prevention of fetal infection in human pregnancy.

    Abstract Abstract Image processing plays a vital role in artificial visual systems, which have diverse applications in areas such as biomedical imaging and machine vision. In particular, optical analog image processing is of great interest because of its parallel processing capability and low power consumption. Here, we present ultra-compact metasurfaces performing all-optical geometric image transformations, which are essential for image processing to correct image distortions, create special image effects, and morph one image into another. We show that our metasurfaces can realize binary image transformations by modifying the spatial relationship between pixels and converting binary images from Cartesian to log-polar coordinates with unparalleled advantages for scale- and rotation-invariant image preprocessing. Furthermore, we extend our approach to grayscale image transformations and convert an image with Gaussian intensity profile into another image with flat-top intensity profile. Our technique will potentially unlock new opportunities for various applications such as target tracking and laser manufacturing.

    Abstract Wind parameters play a vital role in studying atmospheric dynamics and climate change. In this study, a vehicle-mounted coherent wind measurement Lidar (CWML) with a wavelength of 1.55 µm is demonstrated based on a four-beam vertical azimuth display (VAD) scanning mode, and a method to estimate wind vector from power spectrum is proposed. The feasibility of the application of wind profile Lidar in vehicles is verified by calibration tests, comparison experiments, and continuous observation experiments, successively. The effective detection height of Lidar can reach 3 km. In contrasting experiments, the correlation coefficients of the magnitude and direction of horizontal wind speed measured by vehicle-mounted Lidar and fixed Lidar are 0.94 and 0.91, respectively. The experimental results reveal that the accuracies of wind speed and direction measurements with the vehicle-mounted CWML are better than 0.58 m/s and 4.20°, respectively. Furthermore, to understand the role of the wind field in the process of energy and material transport further, a proton-transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTR-TOF-MS) is utilized to measure the concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Relevant experimental results indicate that the local meteorological conditions, including wind speed and humidity, influence the VOC concentrations.

    Abstract The limited number of materials and mechanical weakness of fused deposition modeling (FDM) parts are deficiencies of FDM technology. The preparation of polymer composites parts with suitable filler is a promising method to improve the properties of the 3D printed parts. However, the agglomerate of filler makes its difficult disperse in the matrix. In this work, graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) were surface modified with chemical, low-temperature plasma and in situ methods, in order to apply them as fillers for thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Following its modification, the surface chemical composition of GnPs was analyzed. Three wt% of surface-modified GnPs were incorporated into TPU to produce FDM filaments using a melting compounding process. Their effects on rheology properties and electrical conductivity on TPU/GnPs composites, as well as the dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of FDM parts, are compared. The images of sample facture surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM) to determine the dispersion of GnPs. Results indicate that chemical treatment of GnPs with zwitterionic surfactant is a good candidate to significantly enhance TPU filaments, when considering the FDM parts demonstrated the highest mechanical properties and lowest dimensional accuracy.

    Abstract Boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) show excellent thermal, electrical, optical, and mechanical properties. They are often used as fillers in polymers to prepare thermally conductive composites, which are used in the production of materials for thermal management, such as electronic packaging. Aside from the van der Waals force, there are some ionic bond forces between hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) layers that result in high energy consumption and make BNNSs easily agglomerate. To overcome this issue, L -lysine (Lys) was first employed as a stripping assistant for preparing graft-functionalized BNNSs via mechanical sand-milling technology, and the obtained Lys@BNNSs can be added into thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) by solution mixing and hot-pressing methods to prepare thermally conductive composites. This green and scalable method of amino acid-assisted sand-milling can not only exfoliate the bulk h-BN successfully into few-layer BNNSs but also graft Lys onto the surface or edges of BNNSs through Lewis acid–base interaction. Furthermore, benefiting from Lys’s highly reactive groups and biocompatibility, the compatibility between functionalized BNNSs and the TPU matrix is significantly enhanced, and the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of the composite are remarkably increased. When the load of Lys@BNNSs is 3 wt%, the thermal conductivity and tensile strength of the obtained composites are 90% and 16% higher than those of the pure TPU, respectively. With better thermal and mechanical properties, Lys@BNNS/TPU composites can be used as a kind of heat dissipation material and have potential applications in the field of thermal management materials.

    Abstract Land finance has consumed a lot of China’s urban land resources while contributing to its economic growth. Urban land expansion, land finance, and economic growth have attracted significant scholarly and social attention. However, the influence mechanisms among them have not yet been fully investigated. Based on a conceptual framework analysis, in this study, the panel unit-root test, system-GMM, panel Granger causality test, impulse-response analysis, and variance decomposition were used to analyze the interactional relationships among urban land expansion, land finance, and economic growth for 30 provinces in mainland China during the period of 2000–2017. The findings show that these three factors interact with each other. Land finance exhibits a positive effect on urban land expansion and economic growth. This result is further supported by the Granger causality tests. Moreover, the VAR Granger causality-test results show a unidirectional causality flowing from urban land expansion to economic growth. The impulse-response analysis also reveals that the responses of urban land expansion to shocks in land finance appear to be positive throughout the 10 periods, which is similar to the reaction of economic growth to shocks in land finance. The result of variance decomposition indicates that the explanatory power of urban land expansion for land finance increased from 0.20% to 1.90%. In contrast, the changes in economic growth made the lowest contributions to urban land expansion and land finance. The latter made the highest contribution to economic growth, with average contribution rate of 65.26%. The findings of this study provide valuable policy implications for China, heading for a high-quality development stage.

    Abstract We study the rehabilitation training of damaged parts of ice and snow sports clock and ensure the physical safety of athletes. The results show that the RBF neural network updates the center, weight, and width of the radial basis function, and the predicted maximum compliance is 99%, and the minimum compliance is 93%. After many analysis times, the prediction results show that the difference between the predicted degree of conformity and the actual results is less than 8%. The RBF neural network is trained according to the risk database of sports injury, and the RBF neural network will output corresponding values to realize sports injury estimation. The experimental results show that the designed model has high precision and efficiency.

    Abstract Abstract Cerebrovascular pathology at the biochemical level has been informed by the study of cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL), a vascular disorder caused by NOTCH3 mutations. Previous work in CADASIL described N-terminal proteolysis of NOTCH3 generated by specific non-enzymatic cleavage of the first Asp-Pro sequence of the protein. Here, we investigated whether the second Asp-Pro peptide bond (residues 121–122) of NOTCH3 is cleaved in CADASIL. Monospecific antibodies were generated that recognize the neo-epitope predicted to be generated by cleavage after Asp121. These antibodies were used to localize cleavage events at Asp121 in post-mortem CADASIL and control brain tissue and to investigate factors that regulate cleavage at Asp121. We report that cleavage at Asp121 occurs at a high level in the arterial media of CADASIL cerebral arteries. Leptomeningeal arteries demonstrated substantially more cleavage product than penetrating arteries in the white matter, and control vessels harbored only a small amount of cleaved NOTCH3. Proteolysis at Asp121 occurred in purified preparations of NOTCH3 ectodomain, was increased by acidic pH and reductive conditions, and required native protein conformation for cleavage. Increasing the concentration of NOTCH3 EGF-like domain protein elevated the level of proteolysis. On the other hand, several polyanionic chemicals potently blocked cleavage at Asp121. These studies demonstrate that the NOTCH3 protein in CADASIL is cleaved in multiple locations at labile Asp-Pro peptide bonds. As such, chronic brain vascular disease, like other neurodegenerative conditions, features proteolysis of pathological proteins at multiple sites which may generate small pathological peptides.

    Abstract In order to realize the design concept of “strengthened column and weakened beam, strengthened connection joints and weakened components” and ensure the improvement of joints’ bearing capacity and the transfer of plastic hinges along beams far away from column ends, this paper proposes a new type of prefabricated beams with strengthen-weaken beam-column connection, and changes multiple parameters. Six connection joint models are designed for finite element analysis. The results show that: JD-1 is located far away from the column end according to the plastic development trend, which is in line with the purpose of transfer of the plastic hinges at the beam end. In addition, the whole column is barely damaged during the whole loading process of this connection joint, and quick recovery after the earthquake could be realized merely by replacing other related components of the joint in the later period. Changes of different parameters also have certain impact on the bearing capacity, seismic resistance and energy dissipation capacity of the joint.
