    Abstract Even though destination image is an important expression of discovering the local landscapes and place significance, the construction and measurement of destination image neglect the place component. This research explores the image of health destinations, as well as its representation mechanism, combining the triadic structure of tourism image proposed by Marine-Roig et al. with the theory of discourse power put forward by Michel Foucault, taking Bama, Guangxi as a case. In addition, this paper uses the IPA matrix to visually unveil the pronounced gap between the projected image by Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) and the perceived image of tourists and suggests strategies that DMOs should adopt in the different dimensions.

    Abstract In the context of anthropogenic impacts on riverine ecosystems globally, understanding the response of bacterioplankton to anthropogenic stress is important for human and environmental health. Bacterioplankton communities are critical for maintaining ecosystem stability, but little is known about their co-occurrence networks and assembly processes in intense human-impacted plains river networks. By applying cooccurrence networks, variance partitioning, and null model analysis, we investigated the mechanisms of interaction and assembly of abundant (>1% relative abundance) and rare (<0.01%) taxa at 32 sites in river networks along an urbanization gradient (urban, suburban, and agricultural areas). Our results show that interactions between the bacterioplankton communities were more complex in urban areas than in other areas, and that environmental factors (primarily fluoride, nitrate nitrogen, and dissolved organic carbon) as well as spatial factors (i.e., Moran’s Eigenvector Maps) explained most of the variation in bacterioplankton communities. Abundant taxa showed stronger spatial turnover than rare taxa, indicating that spatial factors played a greater role in the assemblage of abundant taxa. Land use types, especially impervious surfaces, had a unique influence on rare taxa, but contributed less to community change than other factors. In addition, rare taxa were mainly influenced by deterministic processes, whereas abundant taxa were more influenced by stochastic processes, especially in agricultural areas. These findings suggest that the shares of abundant and rare taxa mediate disturbances in local environmental conditions in anthropogenic river network areas, while deterministic processes play a greater role in shaping bacterioplankton communities. Overall, our study provides important insights for environmental monitoring and management in areas of intense human activity, emphasizing the need to consider both abundant and rare taxa when assessing the impact of human activities on riverine ecosystems.

    Abstract Background. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is an important complication in critically ill patients, especially in sepsis and septic shock patients. Early prediction of AKI in septic shock can provide clinicians with sufficient information for timely intervention so that improve the patients’ survival rate and quality of life. The aim of this study was to establish a nomogram that predicts the risk of AKI in patients with septic shock in the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods. The data were collected from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC-III) database between 2001 and 2012. The primary outcome was AKI in the 48 h following ICU admission. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to screen the independent risk factors of AKI. The performance of the nomogram was evaluated according to the calibration curve, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, decision curve analysis, and clinical impact curve. Results. A total of 2415 patients with septic shock were included in this study. In the training and validation cohort, 1091 (64.48%) of 1690 patients and 475 (65.52%) of 725 patients developed AKI, respectively. The predictive factors for nomogram construction were gender, ethnicity, congestive heart failure, diabetes, obesity, Simplified Acute Physiology Score II (SAPS II), angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), bilirubin, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and mechanical ventilation. The model had a good discrimination with the area under the ROC curve of 0.756 and 0.760 in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. The calibration curve for probability of AKI in septic shock showed optimal agreement between prediction by nomogram and actual observation. Decision curve and clinical impact curve analysis indicated that the nomogram conferred high clinical net benefit. Conclusion.     Abstract ObjectivesTo provide a comprehensive assessment of the estimated burden and trend of urolithiasis at the global, regional, and national levels.MethodsThe age-standardized rates (ASRs) of the incidence and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of urolithiasis from 1990 to 2019 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 database. Estimated annual percentage changes (EAPCs) were calculated to quantify the temporal trends in urolithiasis burden.ResultsIn 2019, the ASRs of the incidence and DALYs were 1,394.03/100,000 and 7.35/100,000, respectively. The ASRs of the incidence and DALYs of urolithiasis decreased from 1990 to 2019 with EAPCs of −0.83 and −1.77, respectively. Males had a higher burden of urolithiasis than females. In 2019, the highest burden of urolithiasis was observed in regions with high–middle sociodemographic index (SDI), particularly in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. The burden of urolithiasis increased in most countries or territories. The burden of urolithiasis and SDI had a non-linear relationship, and the estimated value of urolithiasis burden was the highest when the SDI value was ~0.7.ConclusionGlobally, the ASRs of the incidence and DALYs of urolithiasis decreased from 1990 to 2019, but an increasing trend was observed among many countries. More effective and appropriate medical and health policies are needed to prevent and early intervene in urolithiasis.

    Abstract Abstract Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is the most common and serious complication of sepsis, accompanied by high mortality and disease burden. The early prediction of AKI is critical for timely intervention and ultimately improves prognosis. This study aims to establish and validate predictive models based on novel machine learning (ML) algorithms for AKI in critically ill patients with sepsis. Methods Data of patients with sepsis were extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC- III) database. Feature selection was performed using a Boruta algorithm. ML algorithms such as logistic regression (LR), k-nearest neighbors (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, random forest, Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and artificial neural network (ANN) were applied for model construction by utilizing tenfold cross-validation. The performances of these models were assessed in terms of discrimination, calibration, and clinical application. Moreover, the discrimination of ML-based models was compared with those of Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) and the customized Simplified Acute Physiology Score (SAPS) II model. Results A total of 3176 critically ill patients with sepsis were included for analysis, of which 2397 cases (75.5%) developed AKI during hospitalization. A total of 36 variables were selected for model construction. The models of LR, KNN, SVM, decision tree, random forest, ANN, XGBoost, SOFA and SAPS II score were established and obtained area under the receiver operating characteristic curves of 0.7365, 0.6637, 0.7353, 0.7492, 0.7787, 0.7547, 0.821, 0.6457 and 0.7015, respectively. The XGBoost model had the best predictive performance in terms of discrimination, calibration, and clinical application among all models. Conclusion The ML models can be reliable tools for predicting AKI in septic patients.     Abstract MIKC-type MADS-box genes, also known as type II genes, play a crucial role in regulating the formation of floral organs and reproductive development in plants. However, the genome-wide identification and characterization of type II genes as well as a transcriptomic survey of their potential roles in Carica papaya remain unresolved. Here, we identified and characterized 24 type II genes in the C. papaya genome, and investigated their evolutional scenario and potential roles with a widespread expression profile. The type II genes were divided into thirteen subclades, and gene loss events likely occurred in papaya, as evidenced by the contracted member size of most subclades. Gene duplication mainly contributed to MIKC-type gene formation in papaya, and the duplicated gene pairs displayed prevalent expression divergence, implying the evolutionary significance of gene duplication in shaping the diversity of type II genes in papaya. A large-scale transcriptome analysis of 152 samples indicated that different subclasses of these genes showed distinct expression patterns in various tissues, biotic stress response, and abiotic stress response, reflecting their divergent functions. The hub-network of male and female flowers and qRT-PCR suggested that TT16-3 and AGL8 participated in male flower development and seed germination. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the evolution and functions of MIKC-type genes in C. papaya .

    Abstract Background. Fu Fang Zhen Zhu Tiao Zhi (FTZ) is a traditional Chinese herbal prescription widely used to treat dyslipidemia, metabolic diseases, and diabetic coronary disorders. Cardiomyocyte death and loss of regenerative ability cause cardiac dysfunction and heart failure. FTZ can effectively treat diabetic cardiomyopathy and macrovascular diseases; however, the mechanism behind the phenomenon is still unclear. Here, we determined the mechanism of action of FTZ in treating myocardial infarction. Methods. Male C57BL/6 mice were treated with 2.4 or 1.2 g/kg FTZ, or administered saline by oral gavage daily for four weeks, and a 24-hour ligation was administered to the artery. Echocardiography was used to evaluate cardiac function. Hematoxylin and eosin and Evans blue/triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining were carried out by staining the cardiac tissue, used to evaluate cardiac function and infarct size. Using western blotting and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction, we determined the relative levels of NOD-like receptor protein (NLRP) 3, ASC, cleaved caspase-l (C-Caspase-1), GSDMD, and GSDMD-N. TUNEL, immunohistochemical, and immunofluorescence staining were used to determine cell death and NLRP3 expression. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18. Results. FTZ reduced ischemia-induced cardiomyocyte cell death in vivo and H2O2-induced cell death in vitro by maintaining cardiac architecture and restoring cardiac function. FTZ decreased the NLRP3 expression and inhibited pyroptosis-correlated genes, including NLRP3, ASC, GSDMD, C-Caspase-1, and GSDMD-N. NLRP3 overexpression impaired the efficacy of FTZ by inducing pyroptosis. Conclusion. FTZ could preserve cardiac function resulting from ischemic insult by inhibiting pyroptosis, which was partially reversed by NLRP3 overexpression, indicating that NLRP3 could be a potential target of FTZ in treating myocardial infarction.

    Abstract Background: The number of publications on SMAD7 in the field of oncology is increasing rapidly with an upward tendency. In most cases, the mechanisms of carcinogenesis usually relate to disorders of signaling activity. Considering the crucial role of SMAD7 in the crosstalk of multiple signaling pathways, it is necessary to clarify and define the dominant research topics, core authors, and their cumulative research contributions, as well as the cooperative relationships among documents or researchers.Methods: Altogether, 3477 documents were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection with the following criteria: TS= (SMAD7 OR SMAD7-protein OR Small-Mothers-Against-Decapentaplegic-7) refined by WEB OF SCIENCE CATEGORY (ONCOLOGY) AND [excluding] PUBLICATION YEARS (2021) AND DOCUMENT TYPES (ARTICLE OR REVIEW) AND LANGUAGES (ENGLISH) AND WEB OF SCIENCE INDEX (Web of Science Core Collection, SCI), and the timespan of 2011–2020. Bibliometric visualization analysis was conducted with CiteSpace and VOSviewer.Results: The number of documents grew each year. A total of 2703 articles and 774 reviews were identified from 86 countries/regions, 3524 organizations, 928 journals, and 19,745 authors. China was the most prolific country, with 1881 documents. Contributions from China, the United States, and Germany were the most substantial. The most influential author was Lan Huiyao at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with 24 publications and 2348 total citations. The bibliometric analysis showed that multilateral cooperation among diverse institutions or investigators was beneficial to high-quality outputs. The keyword “PPAR-gamma” exhibited the strongest burst in recent years, suggesting a potent research focus in the future.Conclusion: Research on SMAD7 in oncology is continuously developing. Bibliometrics is an interesting tool to present the characteristics of publication years, main authors, and productive organizations in a visualized way.     Abstract Background. Fu fang Zhen Zhu Tiao Zhi (FTZ) is a patented preparation of Chinese herbal medicine that has been used as a natural medicine to treat several chronic diseases including cardiovascular disease. However, its effects on cardiac fibrosis remain unclear. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the effects and potential mechanisms of FTZ in treating cardiac fibrosis. Methods. FTZ was administered to mice by oral gavage daily at a dosage of 1.2 g/kg or 2.4 g/kg of body weight for 7 weeks after a transverse aorta constriction (TAC) surgery. Doppler echocardiography, hematoxylin and eosin staining, and Masson’s trichrome staining were used to assess the effect of FTZ on the cardiac structure and function of mice that had undergone TAC. EdU and wound-healing assays were performed to measure the proliferative and migratory abilities of cardiac fibroblasts. Western blotting and qRT-PCR were used to determine the expression of TGFβ1, Col1A2, Col3, and α-SMA proteins and mRNA levels. Results. FTZ treatment reduced collagen synthesis, attenuated cardiac fibrosis, and improved cardiac function in mice subjected to TAC. Moreover, FTZ treatment prevented the proliferation and migration of cardiac fibroblasts and reduced Ang-II-induced collagen synthesis. Furthermore, FTZ downregulated the expression of TGFβ1, p-smad2, and p-smad3 and inhibited the TGFβ1-Smad2/3 pathway in the setting of cardiac fibrosis. Conclusion. FTZ alleviated the proliferation and migration of cardiac fibroblasts and suppressed collagen synthesis via the TGFβ1-Smad2/3 pathway during the progression of cardiac fibrosis. These findings indicated the therapeutic potential of FTZ in treating cardiac fibrosis.
