Abstract This paper examines a diffusive toxic-producing plankton system with delay. We first show the global attractivity of the positive equilibrium of the system without time-delay. We further consider the effect of delay on asymptotic behavior of the positive equilibrium: when the system undergoes Hopf bifurcation at some points of delay by the normal form and center manifold theory for partial functional differential equations. Global existence of periodic solutions is established by applying the global Hopf bifurcation theory.

Abstract Objective: Mounting studies have clarified the link between long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and pneumonia. This research aims to probe the function and regulatory mechanism of lncRNA H19 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cell models of pneumonia.
Methods: WI-38 cells were exposed to LPS for 12 h to mimic cell models of pneumonia. The relative expression of H19, miR-140-5p, and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The cell viability was detected by MTT assay. The protein expression of apoptosis-associated proteins (Bax and Bcl-2) and TLR4 were determined by western blot. Moreover, the content of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The target relationship between miR- 140-5p and H19/ TLR4 was confirmed by Dual luciferase reporter (DLR) assay.
Results: LncRNA H19 and TLR4 were up-regulated, while miR-140-5p was downregulated in peripheral blood of patients with pneumonia and LPS-treated WI-38 cells compared with their controls. Silencing of H19 or miR-140-5p mimics facilitated cell viability, whereas repressed apoptosis and reduced content of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β in LPS-induced WI-38 cells. H19 targeted miR-140-5p and it inversely regulated miR-140- 5p expression. MiR-140-5p targeted TLR4 and it inversely regulated TLR4 expression. H19 positively regulated TLR4 expression. Moreover, inhibition of miR-140-5p or overexpression of TLR4 reversed the effects of H19 silencing on cell viability, inflammation, and apoptosis in LPS-induced WI-38 cells.
Conclusion: Silencing of H19 inhibited apoptosis and inflammation by miR-140- 5p/TLR4 pathway in LPS-induced WI-38 cells.

Abstract A 37-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital with a large liver mass, diagnosed as hepatic inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour (HIMT), characterized by unique radiographic features and predominantly occurring in adults. HIMT consists of myofibroblast spindle cells infiltrated by plasma cells and/or lymphocytes, with an unclear aetiology linked to factors like infection and immune response. Treatment typically involves surgical resection, with chemotherapy or targeted therapy options for cases of incomplete resection or metastasis, emphasizing the need for precise diagnosis and tailored treatment strategies.

Abstract As clinical research and drug development in China continue to advance, greater attention has been paid to the value of clinical research guidelines. The first revision of the original E8 recommendations (R1), 'General Considerations for Clinical Research' was made by the International Council for Harmonization in October 2021. Our National Medical Products Administration has recently opted to implement the rules beginning from July 2023. In order to provide useful references for improved design and execution of drug clinical studies in China, this paper primarily interprets the fundamental background and revision of E8 (R1) from the perspective of clinical workers. It also analyzes and discusses the application of the current clinical study guidelines in China.

Abstract Existing 3D model reconstruction methods typically produce outputs in the form of voxels, point clouds, or meshes. However, each of these approaches has its limitations and may not be suitable for every scenario. For instance, the resulting model may exhibit a rough surface and distorted structure, making manual editing and post-processing challenging for humans. In this paper, we introduce a novel 3D reconstruction method designed to address these issues. We trained a visual transformer to predict a "scene descriptor" from a single wire-frame image. This descriptor encompasses crucial information, including object types and parameters such as position, rotation, and size. With the predicted parameters, a 3D scene can be reconstructed using 3D modeling software like Blender or Rhino Grasshopper which provides a programmable interface, resulting in finely and easily editable 3D models. To evaluate the proposed model, we created two datasets: one featuring simple scenes and another with complex scenes. The test results demonstrate the model's ability to accurately reconstruct simple scenes but reveal its challenges with more complex ones.

Abstract Establishing and maintaining cell polarity are dynamic processes that necessitate complicated but highly regulated protein interactions. Phosphorylation is a powerful mechanism for cells to control the function and subcellular localization of a target protein, and multiple kinases have played critical roles in cell polarity. Among them, atypical protein kinase C (aPKC) is likely the most studied kinase in cell polarity and has the largest number of downstream substrates characterized so far. More than half of the polarity proteins that are essential for regulating cell polarity have been identified as aPKC substrates. This review covers mainly studies of aPKC in regulating anterior-posterior polarity in the worm one-cell embryo and apical-basal polarity in epithelial cells and asymmetrically dividing cells (for example, Drosophila neuroblasts). We will go through aPKC target proteins in cell polarity and discuss various mechanisms by which aPKC phosphorylation controls their subcellular localizations and biological functions. We will also review the recent progress in determining the detailed molecular mechanisms in spatial and temporal control of aPKC subcellular localization and kinase activity during cell polarization.
