Abstract To promote the development of the renewable energy (RE) industry, China officially implemented renewable portfolio standard (RPS) in 2020, the policy effect of which is closely related to the amount of renewable power offered to users by power-selling enterprises. We use evolutionary game theory to analyze the behavioral strategies of regional governments, regulatory authorities, and power-selling enterprises under RPS, and build a system dynamics (SD) model to determine the influence of the relevant parameters on stakeholders’ strategy making considering quota heterogeneity. The results show that: (1) enterprises evolve to being stable earlier in high-quota area than in low-quota area, which infers that RE development has a certain bottleneck in the initial stage and that RPS can play an effective role; (2) a high certificate price can not only help power selling companies evolve to being stable, but also promote the withdrawal of governments subsidies; (3) to increase the proportion of renewable electricity, the net profit of RE power should not be lower than that of conventional energy; and (4) the incentive effect of subsidy income is not stronger than that of resale income, while when compared with penalty, the incentive effect is stronger, and penalty is not more severe and actually better. Importantly, the results provide policy suggestions for the development of RPS.

Abstract Introduction: Accumulating evidence has shown that circular RNAs (circRNAs) have indispensable functions during tumor progression by regulating gene expression. A previous study found that upregulation of hsa_circ_0000885 indicated a poor clinical outcome of osteosarcoma (OS). However, the regulatory mechanism of this process is unclear. Methods: This investigation aimed to elucidate how hsa_circ_0000885 regulated OSs. The study used RT-qPCR to investigate hsa_circ_0000885 expression in OS cells. We conducted luciferase reporter assays and analyses to confirm the hsa_circ_0000885 downstream target. We transfected OS cells using different vectors and used Transwell migration, colony formation, western blotting, Matrigel invasion, proliferation, in vivo tumorigenesis, and metastasis assays to identify the role of hsa_circ_0000885 in OS. Results: The results showed that hsa_circ_0000885 expression altered OS cell lines, and that hsa_circ_0000885 downregulation suppressed OS cell proliferation and invasion using in vivo and in vitro experiments. Luciferase reporter assays verified that miR-16-5p and E2F3 were downstream targets of hsa_circ_0000885. E2F3 overexpression or miR-16-5p inhibition reversed OS cell invasion and proliferation after silencing hsa_circ_0000885. Furthermore, hsa_circ_0000885 affected cancer stem cell differentiation by regulating miR-16-5p/E2F3. Conclusions: Overall, the results showed that hsa_circ_0000885 downregulation suppressed OS progression and metastasis via regulating E2F3 expression and sponging miR-16-5p.

Abstract Monitoring shoreline movements is essential for understanding the impact of anthropogenic activities and climate change on the coastal zone dynamics. The use of remote sensing allows for large-scale spatial and temporal studies to better comprehend current trends. This study used Landsat 5 (TM), Landsat 8 (OLI), and Sentinel-2 (MSI) remote sensing images, together with the Otsu algorithm, marching squares algorithm, and tidal correction algorithm, to extract and correct the coastline positions of the east coast of Laizhou Bay in China from 1984 to 2022. The results indicate that 89.63% of the extracted shoreline segments have an error less than 30 m compared to the manually drawn coastline. The total length of the coastline increased from 166.90 km to 364.20 km, throughout the observation period, with a length change intensity (LCI) of 3.11% due to the development of coastal protection and engineering structures for human activities. The anthropization led to a decrease in the natural coastline from 83.33% to 13.89% and a continuous increase in the diversity and human use of the coastline. In particular, the index of coastline diversity (ICTD) and the index of coastline utilization degree (ICUD) increased from 0.39 to 0.79, and from 153.30 to 390.37, respectively. Over 70% of the sandy beaches experienced erosional processes. The shoreline erosion calculated using the end point rate (EPR) and the linear regression rate (LRR) is 79.54% and 85.58%, respectively. The fractal dimension of the coastline shows an increasing trend and is positively correlated with human activities. Coastline changes are primarily attributed to interventions such as land reclamation, aquaculture development, and port construction resulting in the creation of 10,000.20 hectares of new coastal areas. Finally, the use of Kalman filtering for the first time made it possible to predict that approximately 84.58% of the sandy coastline will be eroded to varying degrees by 2032. The research results can provide valuable reference for the ...

Abstract Objectives We carried out a retrospective study to investigate the drug susceptibility and genetic relationship of clinical Escherichia coli isolates from patients with BSIs in Shanxi, China. Methods E. coli isolates causing BSIs were consecutively collected from June 2019 to March 2020. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed by broth microdilution method. PCR was used to detect antimicrobial resistance genes coding for extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), phylogenetic groups and seven housekeeping genes of E. coli. Results A total of 76 E. coli were collected. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed that the top six E. coli resistant antibiotics were ampicillin (90.7%), ciprofloxacin (69.7%), cefazolin (65.7%), levofloxacin (63.1%), ceftriaxone and cefotaxime (56.5%). Among the 76 isolates, 43 produced ESBLs. Molecular analysis showed that CTX-M-14 was the most common ESBLs, followed by CTX-M-15 and CTX-M-55. Phylogenetic group D (42.2%) predominated, followed by group B2 (34.2%), group A (18.4%) and group B1 (5.2%). The most prevalent sequence types (STs) were ST131 (15/76), ST69 (12/76) and ST38 (6/76). Conclusions This study is the first to report the phenotypic and molecular characteristics of E. coli isolated from BSIs in Shanxi, China. Our results indicated a high prevalence of MDR in E. coli strains isolated from BSIs and a serious spread of ESBL genes in Shanxi, especially the epidemiological blaCTX-M. Phylogenetic analysis indicated genetic diversity among E. coli BSIs isolates.

Abstract The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing as obesity and diabetes become more common. There are no drugs approved for NAFLD yet. Qige decoction (QGD), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, is used for NAFLD and hyperlipidemia treatment in TCM and has shown hypolipidemic and hepatoprotective effects. This study tried to interpret the pharmacology and molecular mechanisms of QGD in NAFLD rats. Firstly, the therapeutic effects of QGD on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced NAFLD rats were evaluated. Then, integration of lipidomics and transcriptomics was conducted to explore the possible pathways and targets of QGD against NAFLD. QGD at low dosage (QGL) administration reduced serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (P<0.05). Liver histopathology indicated that QGL could alleviate hepatic steatosis. The main differential lipids (DELs) affected by QGD were glycerolipids. KEGG enrichment analysis suggested that the main pathways by which QGD improved NAFLD may be cholesterol metabolism, glycerolipid metabolism, and insulin resistance. Transcriptome sequencing identified 179 upregulated and 194 downregulated mRNAs after QGD treatment. An interaction network based on DELs and differential genes (DEGs) suggested that QGD inhibited hepatic steatosis mainly by reducing hepatic insulin resistance and triglyceride biosynthesis via the PPP1R3C/SIK1/CRTC2 and PPP1R3C/SIK1/SREBP1 signal axis, respectively. These findings indicated that QGD could protect against NAFLD induced by HFD. The improvement of hepatic insulin resistance and the reduction of triglyceride biosynthesis might be the potential mechanisms.

Abstract Wheat/maize intercropping has been widely practiced in northwestern China. It is crucial to optimize the canopy structure and geometric configurations to enhance the performance of the system. This research determined the responses of intercrops to the different canopy structures created by the different wheat/maize intercropping systems. Field experiments were carried out in 2012, 2013, and 2014 at Wuwei, Gansu. Three intercropping patterns—six rows of wheat alternated with two rows of maize (6W2M), six rows of wheat alternated with three rows of maize (6W3M), and six rows of wheat alternated with four rows of maize (6W4M)—were compared with sole wheat and sole maize. The results showed that maize plant heights differed between the inner rows and the border rows, and the difference was greater for the 6W3M system than for the 6W4M system. The three intercropping systems had an average land-use equivalent ratio (LER, calculated based on grain yield) of 1.25, indicating an increase in land-use efficiency by 25% compared to the corresponding sole crops. The shape of maize strips in 6W3M optimized the canopy structure and increased the productivity of wheat and maize. The wheat in 6W3M had significantly more grain yield compared with the sole wheat and the 6W2M due to the maize belt shape, which resulted in the soil evaporation negatively affecting the intercropped wheat grain yield of the 6W3M. Similarly, the maize belt shape facilitated the light penetration and enhanced the reproductive growth by increasing the two cobs per plant rate (TCR) of the maize. The highest TCR of the 6W3M produced a higher maize grain yield than the 6W2M and sole maize in the three growing seasons. The maize belt width in the strip intercropping system had a significant effect on the grain yield of both wheat and maize, which reduced water evaporation, harmonized light distribution, and increased productivity.

Abstract Abstract To compare the efficacy of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) and totally implantable venous-access ports (TIVAPs) for chemotherapy of pediatric patients with malignant tumors. A total of 96 children with malignant tumors who received catheterization of PICCs or TIVAPs for chemotherapy from May 2020 to May 2021 in Department of Pediatric Oncology of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University were selected. Then, the pathological features of disease, the age of children, the indwelling time, the incidence of postoperative complications, and the satisfaction degree were compared between the two groups. The age of children in the TIVAP group was younger than that in the PICC group (P < 0.05). The indwelling time in the TIVAP group was 7.2 ± 2.757 months, which was significantly longer than 5.65 ± 2.058 months in the PICC group (P < 0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications in the TIVAP group without systemic or local infection was markedly lower than that in the PICC group (P < 0.05). The satisfaction degree of patients in the TIVAP group without unsatisfied was markedly higher than that in the PICC group (P < 0.05). TIVAPs may be the first choice for chemotherapy of children with malignant tumors.

Abstract To gain a deeper understanding of the formation and evolutionary mechanisms of a bow-shaped squall line (BSL) that occurred in East China on 10 May 2021, observations from S-band dual-polarization radars, a disdrometer and other instruments are used to investigate the characteristics and evolution of the kinematic, microphysical and radar echo structure within the squall line during its formative and mature stages. The results are as follows. The updraft induced by upper-level divergence and vertical thermal instability induced by the cold source at the middle and top of the troposphere provided environmental conditions suitable for the formation and strengthening of a squall line. The characteristics of the vertical vorticity at the leading edge of the squall line provided a good indication of its echo structure and evolutionary trend. The mechanism behind a new echo phenomenon—double high-differential reflectivity ( Z DR ) bands—observed in plan position indicator scans produced by the dual-polarization radar is investigated from the kinematic and microphysical structural perspectives. The evolutionary characteristics of the microphysical structure of the bulk of the squall line and its trailing stratiform cloud region are analyzed based on the quasi-vertical profiles retrieved from the S-band dual-polarization radar in Quzhou. Moreover, a conceptual model describing this type of BSL with a trailing region of stratiform rain in the warm sector is developed to provide technical support for the monitoring and early warning of BSLs.

Abstract Introduction and objectives: Circular RNA (circRNA) has been confirmed to be an important regulator for the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the role and regulatory mechanism of circ_0005397 in HCC are not completely clear. Patients and methods: Fifty HCC patients were included in this study. Reverse transcription-qPCR analysis was used to appraise circ_0005397, microRNA (miR)-1283, HEG homolog 1 (HEG1) mRNA expression levels, while western blot was used to identify HEG1, PCNA, Bax and Bcl-2 protein expression levels. Furthermore, cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion and angiogenesis were judged through cell counting kit-8 assay, EdU assay, Caspase3 activity test, flow cytometry, transwell assay and tube formation experiment. Dual-luciferase reporter assay and RIP assay were used to verify the targeting relationship between miR-1283 and circ_0005397 or HEG1. Finally, the effect of circ_0005397 on HCC tumor development was detected by mice experiments in vivo. Results: Circ_0005397 was highly expressed in HCC tissues and cells, in HCC cell lines. Circ_0005397 silencing inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion and angiogenesis, while induced apoptosis in HCC cells. Circ_0005397 could sponge miR-1283, and miR-1283 could target HEG1. MiR-1283 inhibitor incompletely counteracted the effect of si-circ_0005397 on HCC cell progression, while HEG1 overexpression partially overturned the effect of miR-1283 on HCC cell progression. Circ_0005397 regulated the expression of HEG1 through targeting miR-1283. Moreover, circ_0005397 silencing blocked the growth of HCC tumors in vivo. Conclusions: Circ_0005397 regulated HEG1 by targeting miR-1283, thereby promoting HCC development.
