Abstract Acute aortic dissection (AAD) is a severe cardiovascular disease characterized by rapid progress and a high mortality rate. The incidence of acute aortic dissection is approximately 5 to 30 per 1 million people worldwide. In clinical practice, about 35% of AAD patients are complicated with acute lung injury (ALI). AAD complicated with ALI can seriously affect patients' prognosis and even increase mortality. However, the pathogenesis of AAD combined with ALI remains largely unknown. Given the public health burden of AAD combined with ALI, we reviewed the anesthetic management advances and highlighted potential areas for clinical practice.

Abstract Here, we briefly highlight our 15-step total synthesis of mollanol A, the first isolated member of the mollane-type grayanoids, which relied on a convergent strategy. A Stille coupling and a vinylogous aldol reaction/intramolecular oxa-Michael addition sequence were used to assemble the two fragments that featured most of the important chiral centers and nearly all the essential oxidation states of the natural product. The bicyclo[3.2.1]octane fragment was synthesized by using an InCl 3 -catalyzed Conia–ene cyclization reaction. The challenging tetrasubstituted alkene was constructed through a 1,4-reduction of the conjugated alkenes at a late stage. 1

Abstract The embedded cluster method has been used extensively in the study of the chemical and physical properties of metal oxides. This method has been a popular tool due to its relatively high accuracy and low computational cost. An even more promising option may entail integrating the embedded cluster method with the combined quantum mechanical and molecular mechanical (QM/MM) approach, thereby enabling further consideration of interactions within the entire system for superior results. We aim to accurately model the chemistry of metal oxides using this combined scheme. Here, using the prototypical MgO(100) surface as a test system, with Mg

Abstract Oxidative stress disturbs the balance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the detoxification biological process. It plays an important role in the development and progression of many chronic diseases. Upon exposure to oxidative stress or the inducers of ROS, the cellular nucleus undergoes some biological processes

Interleukins (ILs), a large group of cytokines, can be divided into seven families, including IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, and IL-17 families. Here, we review the functions of ILs in the pathogenesis and resolution of liver diseases, such as liver inflammation (

Abstract Diabetes affects about 422 million people worldwide, causing 1.5 million deaths each year. However, the incidence of diabetes is increasing, including several types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes (5%-10% of diabetic cases) and type 2 diabetes (90%-95% of diabetic cases) are the main types of diabetes in the clinic. Accumulating evidence shows that the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family plays important roles in many metabolic disorders, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes. FGF consists of 23 family members (FGF-1-23) in humans. Here, we review current findings of FGFs in the treatment of diabetes and management of diabetic complications. Some FGFs (

Abstract Supercapacitors have the characteristics of high power density, long cycle life, and fast charge and discharge rates, making them promising alternatives to traditional capacitors and batteries. The use of transition-metal compounds as electrode materials for supercapacitors has been a compelling research topic in recent years because their use can effectively enhance the electrical performance of supercapacitors. The current research on capacitor electrode materials can mainly be divided into the following three categories: carbon-based materials, metal oxides, and conductive polymers. Nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)
