Abstract Teachers' work engagement is regarded as a critical issue in educational contexts, so the emotional factors and personality traits, and their effects on teacher engagement have drawn the attention of investigators. This study seeks to investigate the relationship between teachers' emotional intelligence, ambiguity tolerance, and work engagement. Moreover, this study tries to investigate the contribution of emotional intelligence and ambiguity tolerance to teachers' work engagement. To do so, 322 teachers (96 males and 226 females) participated in this study. Schutte's Self Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT), Multiple Stimulus Types Ambiguity Tolerance Scale-II (MSTAT-II), and Self-report engagement Questionnaire were used in this study. The statistical techniques used in this study are the Spearman Rho test and ANOVA. The findings showed that there are significant correlations between work engagement, emotional intelligence, and ambiguity tolerance. Comparing the predictability power, teachers' emotional intelligence (

Abstract To investigate the mechanism underlying high acid resistance of enamel after erbium laser etching. Forty-five premolars were collected and assigned to three groups. A 4×4×1 mm enamel sample was prepared, the left side was the control side, the right side was the treated side, which was treated with different surface treatments, including 35% phosphoric acid etching, Er:YAG laser etching, and Er,Cr:YSGG laser etching. The hydroxyapatite crystal size on the enamel surface of the samples was observed. The contents of Ca, P, O, F, Cl, C, Mg were detected. The crystallinity of the hydroxyapatite crystal was analyzed. After erbium laser etching, the enamel surface had high hydroxyapatite crystal size, beneficial content of chemical elements and crystallinity. The morphological and composition changes of crystals in the enamel surface after erbium laser etching may be one of the crucial mechanisms underlying the enhancement of acid resistance of enamel after erbium laser etching.

Abstract Background: Asthma is a common chronic respiratory disease worldwide. Recent studies have revealed the critical effects of the ceRNA network and ferroptosis on patients with asthma. Thus, this study aimed to explore the potential ferroptosis-related ceRNA network, investigate the immune cell infiltration level in asthma through integrated analysis of public asthma microarray datasets, and find suitable diagnostic biomarkers for asthma.
Methods: First, three asthma-related datasets which were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were integrated into one pooled dataset after correcting for batch effects. Next, we screened differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) between patients and healthy subjects, constructed a ceRNA network using the StarBase database and screened ferroptosis-related genes from the predicted target mRNAs for Disease Ontology (DO), Gene Ontology (GO), and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses. We also performed Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) on the batch effect-corrected mRNA expression profile. Then, Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression was used to screen potential diagnostic biomarkers, and the diagnostic efficacy was assessed using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Finally, we determined the proportion of 22 immune cells in patients with asthma using CIBERSORT and investigated the correlation between key RNAs and immune cells.
Results: We obtained 19 DElncRNAs, of which only LUCAT1 and MIR222HG had corresponding target miRNAs. The differentially expressed ferroptosis-related genes were involved in multiple programmed cell death-related pathways. We also found that the mRNA expression profile was primarily enriched in innate immune system responses. We screened seven candidate diagnostic biomarkers for asthma using LASSO regression (namely, BCL10, CD300E, IER2, MMP13, OAF, TBC1D3, and TMEM151A), among which the area under the curve (AUC) value for CD300E and IER2 were 0.722 and 0.856, respectively. Finally, we revealed the infiltration ratio of different immune cells in asthma and found a correlation between LUCAT1, MIR222HG, CD300E, and IER2 with some immune cells.
Conclusion: This study explored a potential lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network and its underlying diagnostic biomarkers (CD300E and IER2) in asthma and identified the immune cells most associated with them, providing possible diagnostic markers and immunotherapeutic targets for asthma.

Abstract A nonlinear error correction model (ECM) is developed to fit nonlinear relationships between the nonstationary time series in a cointegration relationship. Different from the previous parametric methods, this paper constructs a hybrid neural network to learn the nonlinear error correction model by combining a linear recurrent neural network with a multilayer BP network. The network learning algorithm is given by using the gradient descent method and error back propagation. Based on the principle of data-driven, all network parameters can be obtained through the network learning and training. The daily data of gold price and the US dollar index in 2021 were used to verify this proposed nonlinear ECM neural learning method and the results were compared by the likelihood ratio Chi-square test. Simulation results show that the proposed data-driven nonlinear error correction neural learning method can improve goodness of fit statistical significantly of complex nonlinear relationship between time series.

Abstract In this paper, based on the investment behavior of publicly listed manufacturing companies in major economies, we analyze the impacts of macroeconomic systematic shocks on the cyclicality of industrial investment volatility and on the centrality of major economies in global manufacturing network. Two facts are established: (1) the cyclicality of investment volatility in major economies shows to be more countercyclical after 2008, indicating that the downward systematic shocks after 2008 resulted in higher investment volatilities in these major economies through the effect of increased uncertainty accompanying the downward shocks; (2) the impact of global systematic shocks on global manufacturing is making the linkages between industrial investments in major manufacturing economies closer during the period 2002-2020, resulting in an increased centrality of major economies. We consider this as an effect of the counter-globalization trend.

Abstract As a typical symbol-wise solution of asymmetric Slepian-Wolf coding problem, Distributed Arithmetic Coding (DAC) non-linearly partitions source space into disjoint cosets with unequal sizes. The distribution of DAC coset cardinalities, named the Coset Cardinality Spectrum (CCS), plays an important role in both theoretical understanding and decoder design for DAC. In general, CCS cannot be calculated directly. Instead, a numerical algorithm is usually used to obtain an approximation. This paper first finds that the contemporary numerical algorithm of CCS is theoretically imperfect and does not finally converge to the real CCS. Further, to solve this problem, we refine the original numerical algorithm based on rigorous theoretical analyses. Experimental results verify that the refined numerical algorithm amends the drawbacks of the original version.

Abstract Cytoplasmic mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) can trigger the interferon response to promote disease progression, but mtDNA sensing mechanisms remain elusive. Lei et al. have shown that Z-DNA binding protein1 (ZBP1) cooperates with cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) to sense Z-form mtDNA and transmit mtDNA stress signals to promote diseases such as cardiotoxicity, providing an important piece of the mtDNA stress landscape.

Abstract Asthma is one of the most common chronic respiratory diseases in the world. Exploration and understanding of the pathogenesis of epithelial-mesenchymal transition in airway epithelial cells, and the development of new molecular drugs targeted at airway inflammation and remodeling have become the key and hot points in the prevention and treatment of asthma. Emerging evidence has proven that miRNAs are strongly associated with numerous chronic respiratory diseases including asthma, but the involved molecular mechanisms have not been revealed. In the present study, we successfully isolated exosomes from BMMSCs and found that the derived exosomes could improve airway inflammation and remodeling in ovalbumin-induced asthma rats. Furthermore, we found that the highly expressed miR-223-3p in exosomes might play a key pivotal role in the protective effects on airway remodeling and asthma by regulating the NLRP3-induced ASC/Caspase-1/GSDMD signaling pathway. These results provided a promising molecule candidate and target for the therapy of asthma.

Abstract The large-scale construction of new districts has led to severe soil heavy metal pollution. Therefore, taking Fengdong New District as the target research area, the descriptive statistics of heavy metal content characteristics and Kriging interpolation analysis have been conducted, and the potential ecological risk index and information diffusion theory were further combined to create an information diffusion model based on risk assessment. Finally, the pollution degree, ecological risk, and risk occurrence probability of Pb, Cu, Cd, and Hg were discussed. The findings revealed that the average concentrations of the four heavy metals far exceeded the background value of soil heavy metals by a factor of 1.943 (Pb), 1.419 (Cu), 3.074 (Cd), and 3.567 (Hg), respectively. Moreover, the distribution of soil heavy metals showed strong variability(CV>65%)owing to human interference. The distribution of Pb and Cu pollution were predominantly influenced by industrial production and land development for construction purposes, whereas industrial activities, agricultural practices, and transportation served as the primary sources of Cd contamination. On the other hand, industrial construction emerged as the major factor contributing to Hg pollution. The average values of individual potential ecological risk index for heavy metals of 9.716 (Pb), 7.095 (Cu), 92.292 (Cd), and 142.469 (Hg), coupled with the regional comprehensive potential ecological risk index (RI) average of 251.573, signified that the region was overall characterized by a relatively high potential ecological risk status. The overall potential ecological risk for Pb and Cu in the region were mild, whereas Cd and Hg posed moderate to high risks, indicating that Cd and Hg were the dominant driving factors behind regional heavy metal pollution. The evaluation results of the information diffusion model based on the potential ecological risk indicated that the probability ranking of different levels of comprehensive potential ecological risk was as follows:slightly high (38.98%) > moderate (38.55%) > high (5.89%) > slight (5.15%) > extremely high (3.56%). The exceeding probabilities of potential ecological risk levels for Cd and Hg were significantly higher than those for Pb and Cu. The exceeding probability of different pollution levels of Hg were slight (94.89%), moderate (66.85%), slightly high (23.62%), high (3.9%), and extremely high (2%), of which only the surpassing probability of the slight level was lower than that of Cd. The prediction error of pollution probability of each potential ecological risk level was less than 5%, demonstrating the reliability of the information diffusion model based on the risk assessment. This research will provide technical reference and support for the monitoring and management of potential ecological risks from soil heavy metals in limited sample data regions.
