Abstract To improve the tribological properties of porous polyimide (PPI), ZDDP-mixed PAO4 was impregnated in PPI (denoted as ZPPI), and the tribological properties of ZPPI under single- and double-contacts were investigated. In the single-contact of ZPPI-steel, a rough and thick tribofilm was formed on the steel ball, which could protect the steel surface but resulted in large fluctuations in the friction coefficient. In the double-contact of ZPPI-steel-steel, ZDDP formed a uniform and thinner tribofilm on steel surfaces, leading to a lower friction. ZDDP could inhibit the formation of iron oxides significantly in the double-contact, while the antioxidant effect of ZDDP in the single-contact of ZPPI-steel was not obvious. ZnS and ZnO generated from ZDDP were adsorbed in the ZPPI pores, which aggravated the blackening of the ZPPI worn surface.

Abstract Background: Inverted nipple deformity presents an unsatisfactory appearance that may induce an unpleasant sex life, but can also be associated with psychological discomfort and increased the functional problems, such as local irritation and inflammation.
Methods: Multiple techniques have been used to correct inverted nipples, but they mostly lead to different problems such as deficiency of the nerve or duct, recurrence of the inverted nipple, and hypopigmented scars in the areola. To minimize complications and maintain the stability of the reconstructed nipple, we presented a minimal incision technique that designed four 3-mm-sized horizontal microincisions, which ran a sun-cross through the periphery and the core of the nipple to push the nipple together, then a vertical suture ran longitudinal to close the transverse incision to stabilize the projection.
Results: This technique was performed in 71 patients classified as grade II or III of the inverted nipples, comprising 53 congenital cases and 18 patients with acquired deformity. Thirty-four patients had bilateral inverted nipples, and 37 patients had unilateral inverted nipple. During a mean follow-up period of 15 months, 70 corrected nipples remained raised without recurrence, and one nipple was found retracted at the outpatient clinic after 3 months. There were no serious complications associated with surgery regarding nipple necrosis, seven patients got temporary swelling, two patients got infected after touching water, three patients got extravasated blood, eight patients indicated that they touched scar under the nipple, and two patients reflected nipple dysesthesia. In the 15 months follow-up, the patients with Grade II nipple inversion maintained a nipple average height of 9.54 ± 0.95, and the patients with Grade III nipple inversion maintained a nipple average height of 9.19 ± 1.09, and 86.63% of patients were satisfied with their results.
Conclusion: This is a simple, safe, effective and reliable technique that should be considered, providing sustained results over the long-term follow-up period with a high rate of stable eversion and low incidence of ischemia, necrosis, scarring and dysesthesia. The vertical scar of the transverse incision closure leads to an esthetic appearance without apparent scarring and minimizes the risk of an altered nipple sensation.

Abstract Steam explosion technology is an emerging pretreatment method that has shown great promise for food processing due to its ability to efficiently destroy the natural barrier structure of materials. This narrative review summarizes the principle of steam explosion technology, its similarities and differences with traditional screw extrusion technology, and the factors that affect the technology. In addition, we reviewed the applications in food processing by-products in recent years. The results of the current study indicate that moderate steam explosion treatment can improve the quality and extraction rate of the target products. Finally, we provided an outlook on the development of steam explosion technology with a reference for a wider application of this technology in the food processing field.

Abstract An efficient energy scheduling strategy of a charging station is crucial for stabilizing the electricity market and accommodating the charging demand of electric vehicles (EVs). Most of the existing studies on energy scheduling strategies fail to coordinate the process of energy purchasing and distribution and, thus, cannot balance the energy supply and demand. Besides, the existence of multiple charging stations in a complex scenario makes it difficult to develop a unified schedule strategy for different charging stations. In order to solve these problems, we propose a multiagent reinforcement learning (MARL) method to learn the optimal energy purchasing strategy and an online heuristic dispatching scheme to develop a energy distribution strategy in this article. Unlike the traditional scheduling methods, the two proposed strategies are coordinated with each other in both temporal and spatial dimensions to develop the unified energy scheduling strategy for charging stations. Specifically, the proposed MARL method combines the multiagent deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG) principles for learning purchasing strategy and a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network for predicting the charging demand of EVs. Moreover, a multistep reward function is developed to accelerate the learning process. The proposed method is verified by comprehensive simulation experiments based on real data of the electricity market in Chicago. The experiment results show that the proposed method can achieve better performance than other state-of-the-art energy scheduling methods in the charging market in terms of the economic profits and users' satisfaction ratio.

Abstract Multi-agent deep reinforcement learning algorithms with centralized training with decentralized execution (CTDE) paradigm has attracted growing attention in both industry and research community. However, the existing CTDE methods follow the action selection paradigm that all agents choose actions at the same time, which ignores the heterogeneous roles of different agents. Motivated by the human wisdom in cooperative behaviors, we present a novel leader-following paradigm based deep multi-agent cooperation method (LFMCO) for multi-agent cooperative games. Specifically, we define a leader as someone who broadcasts a message representing the selected action to all subordinates. After that, the followers choose their individual action based on the received message from the leader. To measure the influence of leader's action on followers, we introduced a concept of information gain, i.e., the change of followers' value function entropy, which is positively correlated with the influence of leader's action. We evaluate the LFMCO on several cooperation scenarios of StarCraft2. Simulation results confirm the significant performance improvements of LFMCO compared with four state-of-the-art benchmarks on the challenging cooperative environment.

Abstract Keratoconus (KC) is a corneal anomaly that is manifested in a limited cone-like bulge with corneal thinning. Many molecules in the cornea change during the development of KC, including various components of the extracellular matrix, cytokines, cell connection, and cell adhesion-related proteins. Several treatment options are available, with corneal cross-linking (CXL) being the treatment of choice for early KC. However, postoperative complications have been reported in some CXL patients, mainly caused by corneal epithelial resection. Despite the fact that some novel approaches have helped to reduce some of the initial post-operative issues, their effectiveness seems to be inferior to that of the original CXL. To keep effectiveness while avoiding these negative effects, it is necessary to study the mechanism of CXL in KC treatment at the molecular level. This article provides a review of the molecular mechanism of CXL in the treatment of KC from four aspects: enzyme activity, signal transduction pathway, corneal-related proteins, and other KC-related molecules, further confirming the feasibility of CXL treatment of KC, providing new ideas for improving CXL.

Abstract The effective pricing of retail broker in competitive electricity market constitutes a key problem toward four goals: (1) the maximization of the broker’s economic benefits; (2) the balance between customers’ energy supply and demand; (3) the realization of the energy supply and demand flexibility potential of customers; (4) the constraint that prevents the retail prices from too high or too low. Unfortunately, few studies can achieve four goals simultaneously. Moreover, the complicated electricity trading environment with continuous states and actions also increases the difficulty of learning optimal pricing strategy. To solve these problems, a reinforcement and imitation learning approach is proposed to develop the optimal pricing strategy of retail broker in this paper. Specifically, the proposed approach consists of a demand prediction method to predict customers’ energy demand and supply volume, a self-generated expert knowledge imitation learning mechanism to instruct the agent to imitate given expert policy with generated expert knowledge, and an action policy learning method. Different from existing studies, our approach achieves all four goals and exploits the generated transition tuples fully to learn a more effective pricing strategy. The proposed scheme is verified by experiments using real-world market data, the experimental results illustrate our proposed approach gains 9.71%, 3.32%, and 15.94% higher economic profits than three state-of-the-art pricing strategies, respectively. Meanwhile, the total needed computation time for our method to learn an effectiveness pricing strategy is only 4102 s. The results show that our method gains the highest economic profits for the broker with acceptable computation cost. Moreover, the changing curves of customers’ consumption/production habits demonstrate that the proposed method could achieve demand/supply response of customers.

Abstract Due to the existing effects of intermittent jumps of unknown parameters during operation, effectively establishing transient and steady-state tracking performances in control systems with unknown intermittent actuator faults is very important. In this article, two prescribed performance adaptive neural control schemes based on command-filtered backstepping are developed for a class of uncertain strict-feedback nonlinear systems. Under the condition of system states being available for feedback, the state feedback control scheme is investigated. When the system states are not directly measured, a cascade high-gain observer is designed to reconstruct the system states, and in turn, the output feedback control scheme is presented. Since the projection operator and modified Lyapunov function are, respectively, used in the adaptive law design and stability analysis, it is proven that both schemes can not only ensure the boundedness of all closed-loop signals but also confine the tracking errors within prescribed arbitrarily small residual sets for all the time even if there exist the effects of intermittent jumps of unknown parameters. Thus, the prescribed system transient and steady-state performances in the sense of the tracking errors are established. Furthermore, we also prove that the tracking performance under output feedback is able to recover the tracking performance under state feedback as the observer gain decreases. Simulation studies are done to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical discussions.

Abstract "Fo Tiao Qiang" is a famous dish with Chinese characteristics. It is delicious, rich in materials, and high in nutritional value. Through physical and chemical analysis, electronic tongue, gas chromatography-ion mobility spectroscopy, and other technologies, the present study explored the quality characteristics and flavor differences of Fo Tiao Qiang by using different thawing methods (natural thawing, ultrasonic thawing, microwave thawing, and water bath thawing). The results show that the protein content was slightly higher in Fo Tiao Qiang with ultrasonic thawing than others. The fat content of the microwave-thawed Fo Tiao Qiang was significantly lower than the other three kinds of samples. After ultrasonic thawing, the number of free amino acids in the samples were the highest and the umami taste was the best. Compared with natural thawing, most of the flavor substances decreased in ultrasonic thawing, microwave thawing, and water bath thawing. However, several substances increased, such as alpha-terpineol, beta-phenylethyl alcohol, phenylacetaldehyde,
