    Abstract In response to the frequent occurrence of earthquakes in Chengdu, which poses a great threat to the economy, social development, production, and people’s lives, in this study, we construct an index evaluation system and a system dynamics model for urban seismic resilience based on an analysis of the interaction between earthquake disasters and the urban system. Four types of schemes, namely, the current continuity type, economic development type, government intervention type, and resilience construction type, were designed, and the dynamic evaluation and simulation prediction of Chengdu’s seismic resilience capacity under each scheme were conducted. The research results show that, compared with the other three schemes, the resilience construction type has better universality and expansibility in terms of improving Chengdu’s seismic resilience. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain a certain level of economic development, to attach importance to the construction of monitoring and warning systems, and to strive to improve emergency rescue capabilities and disaster awareness education. The model and evaluation indicators have strong applicability, and the research results can provide a theoretical reference for the evaluation of seismic resilience in Chengdu.

    Abstract We report in this article the structural properties, spectral behavior and heterogeneity of ZnCl 2 -ethanol (EtOH) mixtures in a wide-composition range (1:3 to 1:14 in molar ratios), using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. To improve the resolution of the initial IR spectra, excess spectroscopy and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy were employed. The transformation process was suggested to be from EtOH trimer and EtOH tetramer to EtOH monomer, EtOH dimer and ZnCl 2 -3EtOH complex upon mixing. The theoretical findings showed that increasing the content of EtOH was accompanied with the flow of negative charge to ZnCl 2 . This led to reinforcement of the Zn ← O coordination bonds, increase of the ionic character of Zn‒Cl bond and weakening and even dissociation of the Zn‒Cl bond. It was found that in some of the ZnCl 2 -EtOH complexes optimized at the gas phase or under the solvent effect, there existed hydroxyls with a very special interactive array in the form of Cl‒Zn + ← O‒H … Cl − , which incredibly red-shifted to wavenumbers <3000 cm −1 . This in-depth study shows the physical insights of the respective electrolyte alcoholic solutions, particularly the solvation process of the salt, help to rationalize the reported experimental results, and may shed light on understanding the properties of the deep eutectic solvents formed from ZnCl 2 and an alcohol.

    Abstract Traffic speed prediction plays a significant role in the intelligent traffic system (ITS). However, due to the complex spatial-temporal correlations of traffic data, it is very challenging to predict traffic speed timely and accurately. The traffic speed renders not only short-term neighboring and multiple long-term periodic dependencies in the temporal dimension but also local and global dependencies in the spatial dimension. To address this problem, we propose a novel deep-learning-based model, Global Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network (GSTGCN), for urban traffic speed prediction. The model consists of three spatial-temporal components with the same structure and an external component. The three spatial-temporal components are used to model the recent, daily-periodic, and weekly-periodic spatial-temporal correlations of the traffic data, respectively. More specifically, each spatial-temporal component consists of a dynamic temporal module and a global correlated spatial module. The former contains multiple residual blocks which are stacked by dilated casual convolutions, while the latter contains a localized graph convolution and a global correlated mechanism. The external component is used to extract the effect of external factors, such as holidays and weather conditions, on the traffic speed. Experimental results on two real-world traffic datasets have demonstrated that the proposed GSTGCN outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines.

    Abstract Dendrobium officinale (D. officinale) is a valuable medicinal plant with a low natural survival rate, and its shade-avoidance response to far-red light is as an important strategy used by the plant to improve its production efficiency. However, the lncRNAs that play roles in the shade-avoidance response of D. officinale have not yet been investigated. This study found that an appropriate proportion of far-red light can have several effects, including increasing the leaf area and accelerating stem elongation, in D. officinale. The effects of different far-red light treatments on D. officinale were analysed by RNA sequencing technology, and a total of 69 and 78 lncRNAs were differentially expressed in experimental group 1 (FR1) versus the control group (CK) (FR1-CK) and in experimental group 4 (FR4) versus the CK (FR4-CK), respectively. According to GO and KEGG analyses, most of the differentially expressed lncRNA targets are involved in the membrane, some metabolic pathways, hormone signal transduction, and O-methyltransferase activity, among other functions. Physiological and biochemical analyses showed that far-red light promoted the accumulation of flavonoids, alkaloids, carotenoids and polysaccharides in D. officinale. The effect of far-red light on D. officinalemight be closely related to the cell membrane and Ca2+ transduction. Based on a Cytoscape analysis and previous research, this study also found that MSTRG.38867.1, MSTRG.69319.1, and MSTRG.66273.1, among other components, might participate in the far-red light signalling network through their targets and thus regulate the shade-avoidance response of D. officinale. These findings will provide new insights into the shade-avoidance response of D. officinale.

    Abstract As common environmental pollutants, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that are widely applied in industry and agriculture have adverse effects on neurodevelopment. However, evidence on the neurotoxicity of POPs in neural development of offspring is limited. This study explored the relationship between prenatal exposure to POPs and neurodevelopment of 18-month-old toddlers in a mother-child cohort in Shanghai, China. In this study, we determined exposure levels of 37 POPs in cord blood serum collected at the time of delivery. The detection rate of pollutants HCB, β-HCH, and p,p′-DDE was higher than 60%, so these will be discussed in the following analysis. From birth to approximately 18 months, we followed up infants to longitudinally explore whether POPs influenced their language, motor, and cognitive development according to a Bayley-Ⅲ assessment . Based on multivariable regression analyses, the β-HCH concentration in cord serum was negatively related to motor development scores in children at 18 months by adjusting for the covariates, but there was no change in language and cognition. Further piecewise linear regression analysis showed that a cord serum β-HCH concentration greater than 0.2 μg/L had a significantly negative correlation with the motor development scores. p,p′-DDE was positively associated with language development at 18 months before and after adjusting for covariates. But prenatal HCB levels were not associated with any of the Bayley-Ⅲ subscales at 18 months. We concluded that prenatal exposure to β-HCH might have adverse effects on infants’ motor development. The minimum harmful concentration of β-HCH was estimated at 0.2 μg/L in cord serum. The unexpected positive association between p,p′-DDT and language development could be due to live birth bias.

    Abstract The effect of sodium formate (SF), calcium formate (CF) and nickel formate (NF) as additives on analytical pyrolysis performance of kraft lignin was conducted. The results showed that these formates promoted the releasing of volatiles, leading to the rapid degradation of kraft lignin. High relative content of monophenols (53.77%), especially of guaiacol (23.65%), were achieved from the pyrolysis of pure lignin. The relative content of guaiacol was dramatically decreased after the adding of formates in kraft lignin. The relative content of polyphenols such as 3-methylcatechol and 4-methylcatechol reached to 16.97%, 16.23% and 21.95% with the formates of SF, CF and NF, respectively. The NF showed the highest selectivity of polyphenols and hydrocarbons. The increase of polyphenols and hydrocarbons from NF was the synergetic effect of the hydrogen radical reaction from the formic functional groups under the catalysis of Ni and/or NiO produced from the NF pyrolysis process.

    Abstract Previous study revealed that Se-GP11 could exhibited its antitumor activity by improving the immune functions. 5-Fu, as a chemotherapeutic drugs, can kill many immune cells in addition to tumor cells. Accordingly, the enhanced antitumor and reduced toxicity of Se-GP11 on 5-Fu were estimated in this study. The results demonstrated that Se-GP11 could evidently increase the antitumor activity of 5-Fu. Furthermore, Se-GP11 could enhance the immune functions during the tumor inhibition process of 5-Fu for increasing the cytokines secretion (IL-2 and TNF-α) and immune organs weights. In addition, Se-GP11 could reduce the toxicity of 5-Fu on liver by improving the hematological and biochemical parameters and up-regulating the SOD activities and down-regulating the MDA levels. Taken together, the results indicated that Se-GP11 may develop as an auxiliary preparation to chemical antitumor drugs.
