Abstract Resulting from the year‐on‐year increase in tea plantations and the saturated consumption of tea leaves, the relative overcapacity in China's tea‐leaf production appears. Discovering the new utilization of tea leaves is helpful to alleviate this phenomenon. The feasibility of extracting saponins from aged tea leaves was investigated and confirmed; three major variables in water extraction were optimized by Box‐Behnken designs. The significant variable found in Box‐Behnken designs, liquid–solid ratio, was went through single‐variable experiments for a more accurate optimization. Seventy‐five ml/g, 1 hr, and 80°C were optimal values and tea‐leaf saponins yield of tea tree variety Longjing 43 reached 12.19% ± 0.0030% after optimizations, higher than the yield of tea‐seed saponins from Camellia oleifera seed meals using the same extraction method (water extraction based on optimizations). According to correlation analyses, tea tree's leaf type and germination stage affected tea‐leaf saponins contents positively, indicating tea trees with larger leaves and later germination stage would have a higher content of tea‐leaf saponins with a higher yield of tea‐leaf saponins under the same extraction method.

Abstract Recently, the use of new educational technologies in language teaching development is expanding rapidly. Educational technologies attach new features to the learning environments. The integration of educational technologies in language teaching has been received special attention among language researchers. In so doing, the present study investigated language learners' perceptions of the integration of innovative educational technologies in their language classrooms. The sample comprised 301 English as a foreign language (EFL) students with different academic qualifications from Shaanxi Province (299) and other provinces (Fujian province = 1, Sichuan province = 1) in China. To gather the necessary data, the researcher conducted a technology integration questionnaire and a focus group interview. The results of obtained data demonstrated that the language learners had positive attitudes toward using technology in their classrooms. However, the findings of the interviews indicated that learners had some problems such as lack of technology literacy and inadequate assess to facilities in participating in technology-based classroom activities.

Abstract Prior scholarship devotes scant attention to the economic returns to delayed postgraduate attainment, when college graduates did not enroll immediately but entered the labor market first. While human capital theory posits "better earlier than later", delayed attainment may represent a more deliberate decision informed by the demand side, which facilitates access to better-matched jobs. Utilizing data from National Survey of College Graduates, the study focuses on master's degree recipients who attained their bachelor's degree in 2005-2010 and who were working for pay in 2015. Multivariate analyses suggest delayed attainment yields lower earnings than on-time attainment but only applies to men. After accounting for the selection into delayed vs. on-time attainment, propensity score matching estimates reveal varying delay penalties by sex and college major. More generally, this study adds nuance to the "better earlier than later" hypothesis and underscores the mechanism of delayed postgraduate education for economic stratification among college graduates.

Abstract Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are promising materials for generating high-performance electronic devices. However, these applications are greatly restricted by their lack of purity and solubility. Commercially available SWNTs are a mixture of semi-conducting (sc-) and metallic (m-) SWNTs and are insoluble in common solvents. Conjugated polymers can selectively disperse either sc- or m-SWNTs and increase their solubility; however, the conductivity of conjugated polymer-wrapped SWNTs is largely affected by the polymer side chains. Here, a poly(fluorene-co-phenylene) polymer that contains a self-immolative linker as part of its sidechains is reported. The self-immolative linker is stabilized with a tert-butyldimethylsilyl ether group that, upon treatment with tetra-n-butylammonium fluoride (TBAF), undergoes a 1,6-elimination reaction to release the sidechain. Sonication of this polymer with SWNTs in tetrahydrofuran (THF) results in concentrated dispersions that are used to prepare polymer-SWNT thin films. Treatment with TBAF caused side-chain cleavage into carbon dioxide and the corresponding diol, which can be easily removed by washing with solvent. This process is characterized by a combination of absorption and Raman spectroscopy, as well as four-point probe measurements. The conductance of the SWNT thin films increased ≈60-fold upon simple TBAF treatment, opening new possibilities for producing high-conductivity SWNT materials for numerous applications.

Abstract Abstract Disulfidptosis (DSP), a form of cell death caused by disulphide stress, plays an important role in tumour progression. However, the mechanisms by which DSP regulates the tumour microenvironment remain unclear. Thus, we analysed the transcriptome profiles and clinical data, which were obtained from the TCGA database, of 540 patients with colorectal cancer. Compared with the patients with low DSP expression, those with high DSP expression exhibited significantly better survival outcomes; lower stromal and ESTIMATE scores; significantly higher numbers of CD4+ T cells, M2 macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils; higher expression of immune checkpoint-related genes; and lower Tregs and HLA-DQB2 levels. A prognostic signature established based on DSP-related genes demonstrated an increase in risk score with a higher clinical stage. Risk scores negatively correlated with dendritic cells, eosinophils, and CD4+ T cells and significantly positively correlated with Treg cells. Patients with higher risk scores experienced significantly worse survival outcomes and immunotherapy non-response. Our nomogram model, combining clinicopathological features and risk scores, exhibited robust prognostic and predictive power. In conclusion, DSP-related genes actively participated in regulating the tumour microenvironment. Thus, they can serve as biomarkers to provide targeted treatment for colorectal cancer.

Abstract Comprehensive and deep research on the variations of ecosystem service value (ESV) based on land utilization/land cover change from a spatio-temporal perspective is of great significance for regional ecosystem optimization, as well as coordinated sustainable development of natural environment and economic society. Based on land utilization, natural environment, and socio-economic data of Dongjiang River Basin from 2010 to 2020, combined with hotspot analysis tools and local spatial autocorrelation analysis methods, we comprehensively analyzed the spatio-temporal variations of Dongjiang River Basin ESV, and further explored the spatial differentiation mechanism with geographic detector tools. The results showed that Dongjiang River Basin was dominated by forest ecosystem from 2010 to 2020. The construction land area had expanded significantly mainly from arable land and forest. The Dongjiang River Basin ESV showed a downward and then an upward trend. The ESV of arable land, forest and construction land continuously decreased, and the ESV of water decreased first and then increased substantially. The spatial distribution of ESV hot and cold spots had a significant agglomeration effect, presenting a pattern of hot spot dispersion in the upstream area and cold spots aggregation in the downstream area. The ESV distribution in the upstream and downstream area was not balanced, with the downstream area bearing greater ecological stress. According to the detection results of ESV spatial differentiation mechanism, land utilization was the main factor affecting the spatial differentiation, with the spatial difference of ESV (
