Abstract With the advancement and strengthening of urbanization, supercities are continually emerging; however, the traffic problems that accompany this growth actually hinder urban development. Thus, construction of an urban underground rail transit system is an important civil project for utilization of urban underground space. In particular, numerous railway and tunnel projects have been implemented in China during the past few decades with great progress made in rail transit construction technology. Nonetheless, many technical challenges have also been encountered in areas of design, construction, safe operation, and maintenance. To examine such problems, the Phase I project of China’s Chengdu Metro Line 17 is comprehensively analyzed as a case study, and an in-depth discussion is given on the construction technology and technical management practices. The data obtained in the management process are classified and archived to form a complete dataset of technical project management. After the project is completed, the experience and lessons in technical management will be summarized to form reference material for similar projects in the future.

Abstract Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is a common opportunistic infection that occurs in immunocompromised patients. Compared with HIV patients, PCP in non-HIV patients tends to follow up a more urgent course and poorer prognosis. Therefore, markers that could predict survival of PCP patients in non-HIV population are of great value. MiRNA-150 has been widely studied in many diseases since it has been identified as a vital regulator of immune cell differentiation and activation. We thus conduct this study aiming to evaluate the prognostic value of miR-150 level in non-HIV PCP. First, the expression levels of miR-150 were compared between PCP patients and healthy volunteers. The miR-150 levels in immune cells were also detected in PCP mouse models. Then the prognostic value of miR-150 was further assessed in another PCP population (n = 72). The expression levels of miR-150 were measured by reverse transcription real-time PCR (RT-PCR) technique. Our data demonstrated significantly decreased miR-150 expression levels in PCP patients and mouse models compared to controls. The miR-150 levels also decreased in various immune cells of PCP mouse models. With a cut-off value of 3.48, the area under the curve, sensitivity, specificity of miR-150 to predicate PCP mortality were 0.845, 68.2% and 96.0% respectively. In conclusion, miR-150 expression value might serve as a potential biomarker to identify PCP patients at high risk of death.

Abstract Improving the efficiency of green innovation has become an urgent issue in the transformation of manufacturing industries in most developing countries within the context of increasing resource scarcity and environmental constraints. As an important feature of manufacturing development, agglomeration also plays a substantial role the promotion of technological progress and green transformation. Taking China as an example, this paper investigates the spatial impact of manufacturing agglomeration (MAGG) on green innovation efficiency (GIE). We first measure the level of MAGG and GIE in 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in China during the period from 2010 to 2019, and then we utilize the spatial Durbin model in order to empirically test the spatial effect and heterogeneity based on theoretical analysis. The findings demonstrate that (1) the overall GIE in China has maintained a steady increase, and the level of MAGG slowly decreased from 2010 to 2019 with characteristics of obvious regional non-equilibrium and spatial correlations; (2) MAGG has a significant effect on the improvement of GIE nationally; (3) under the constraints of regional heterogeneity, the impacts of MAGG on GIE show significant differences between eastern, central and western China; (4) in terms of industry heterogeneity, high-tech MAGG can significantly enhance local GIE, while the indirect effect of non-high-tech MAGG is significantly negative. Our findings not only contribute to the advancement of studies pertaining to industry agglomeration and innovation, but also present policy implications for China and the world at large in terms of the development of high-quality and green economy.

Abstract This paper examines the role of financial stress in explaining the relationship between financial literacy and financial well-being among individuals in the United States. The 2018 FINRA National Financial Capability Study dataset is used for the empirical analyses of this study. The results found that financial literacy was positively associated with financial well-being. The study also found that the association between financial literacy and financial well-being was mediated by perceived financial stress experienced by individuals. Additionally, the results from the moderated mediation model showed that while financial stress mediated the association between financial literacy and financial well-being, the association between financial stress and financial well-being was moderated by financial literacy. Financial education was positively associated with financial literacy in this study. The broader implications of the main findings of this study for individuals’ sustainable financial well-being are presented for policymakers, financial educators, and financial counselors and planners.

Abstract Abstract Background The objective of this study was to investigate whether the albumin-to-fibrinogen ratio (AFR) can predict corticosteroid response and prognosis prediction among IgA nephropathy (IgAN) patients. Methods Eligible participants with diagnosed IgAN who were scheduled to receive corticosteroid therapy for persistent proteinuria were recruited. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to evaluate the predictive value of AFR or estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) for corticosteroid response in IgAN patients. Risk factors for corticosteroid response and prognosis were validated using univariate and multivariate Cox proportional analyses. Results AFR and eGFR were both effective predictors of corticosteroid response in IgAN patients, with area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.686 and 0.643, respectively (P < 0.001 and P = 0.002). Baseline AFR level at biopsy was an independent risk factor for remission after corticosteroid therapy (HR: 2.38, 95% CI 1.32–4.07, P = 0.015), 50% decline in eGFR (HR: 0.78, 95% CI 0.69–0.89, P = 0.025), kidney failure (HR: 2.46, 95%CI 1.16–3.71, P = 0.016), and a composite event (HR: 2.13, 95%CI 1.28–3.34, P = 0.009) in IgAN patients. Conclusions AFR level at biopsy was a potential predictor of corticosteroid response and prognosis among IgAN patients.

Abstract To investigate the mechanical properties of hybrid basalt fiber (BF) and polyvinyl alcohol fiber (PVAF)-reinforced low-heat Portland cement concrete (LHPCC), two groups of concrete were formulated. The BF and PVAF were equal in the first group, and the total fiber contents were 0–0.4%. The second group was the total fiber content of 0.3% and the occupancy of BF in the hybrid fiber of 0, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Two groups of concrete were tested for compressive, splitting tensile, and flexural strengths to illustrate the enhanced mechanism of the mechanical properties of LHPCC by hybrid fiber. The best mechanical property enhancement was achieved when BF and PVAF were in equal proportions and the fiber content was 0.3%. Meanwhile, the test results for the mechanical properties were also compared with the predicted values of ACI 318 and Eurocode 2. Moreover, the hybrid BF-PVAF-reinforced concrete was regarded as a three-phase composite material consisting of fiber-reinforced mortar, coarse aggregate, and an interfacial transition zone. The axial compressive and splitting tensile strengths, damage processes, and mechanical strengthening mechanisms of concrete were investigated for different total fiber content at equal ratios of BF and PVAF, and the results were compared with the macroscopic mechanical test findings. The results show that the conclusion of the meso-simulation matches well with the test. Finally, the effect of aggregate and hybrid fiber content on the mechanical properties of LHPCC was predicted by a simulation. The results of this study can provide references for future mechanical modeling, performance studies, and practical engineering applications of LHPCC.
