Abstract Abstract The incidence rate of insomnia is increasing, but the mechanism of it remains unclear. Warming Yang Strategy (WY) is a kind of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and it is proved to be effective in treating insomnia patients. The insomnia animal was established with chlorophenylalanine (PCPA). Morris water maze and open field test were performed to evaluate the influence of WY on the neurological recovery of insomnia rats. TUNEL staining and flow cytometry were used to measure apoptosis level. WY promoted the neurological recovery in the insomnia rats through Morris water maze and open field test evaluation. The increase of γ‐aminobutyric acid, dopamine, 5‐hydroxytryptamine, and norepinephrine caused by WY was suppressed by siSIRT4. The decrease of apoptosis and inflammation factors expression induced by WY was promoted by siRNA‐SIRT4 (siSIRT4). WY improve neurological recovery in the insomnia rats through SIRT4 by inhibiting inflammation and apoptosis. This research might provide a novel insight for the prevention and treatment of insomnia through targeting SIRT4.

Abstract Microplastic pollution has become a global environmental problem. Textile microplastics are an important component of microplastic pollution, but little is known about their contamination in the industrial environment. The lack of standardized methods for detecting and quantifying textile microplastics is a major obstacle to determining the risks they pose to the natural environment. This study systematically examines the pretreatment options for the extraction of microplastics from printing and dyeing wastewater. The effectiveness of potassium hydroxide, nitric acid–hydrogen peroxide mixed solution, hydrogen peroxide, and Fenton’s reagent for the removal of organic matter from textile wastewater is compared. Three textile microplastics, polyethylene terephthalate, polyamide, and polyurethane, are studied. The effects of the digestion treatment on the physicochemical properties of textile microplastics are characterized. The separation efficiency of sodium chloride, zinc chloride, sodium bromide, sodium iodide, and sodium chloride-sodium iodide mixed solution on the textile microplastics is tested. The results showed that Fenton’s reagent achieved a 78% removal rate of organic matter from printing and dyeing wastewater. Meanwhile, it has less of an effect on the physicochemical properties of textile microplastics after digestion and is the best reagent for digestion. The zinc chloride solution achieved a 90% recovery for separating textile microplastics with good reproducibility. It does not affect the subsequent characterization analysis after separation and is the best solution for density separation.

Abstract In the framework of electromechanical energy conversion devices for vibrational energy harvesting, magnetostrictive materials are an attractive alternative solution to the brittleness of piezoelectric materials. Electromagnetic systems have low voltage output at a low frequency while magnetostrictive materials are suitable for a larger frequency bandwidth. In this work, a special experimental emphasis is placed on Fe 80 Si 9 B 11 (also known as Metglas 2605SA1) alloy. The ultimate energy conversion abilities are investigated by performing experimental Ericsson cycles as well as through theoretical predictions using a dedicated model for the magnetic curves at the material scale. Typical output magnetic energy densities ranged between 0.1 and 1 mJ/cm 3 /cycle under moderate stress (<100 MPa) and magnetic excitation (up to 4 kA/m). Apart from its energy conversion abilities, Metglas 2605SA1 also features attractive characteristics for realistic applications in microgenerators, such as a low price, which is an important advantage for the mass production and cost-effectiveness of the harvester. Furthermore, its soft magnetic property reduces the need for high magnetic fields and yields a well-adapted solution from a system point of view. It is therefore shown that this material is a suitable conversion material according to the available stress and magnetic excitation magnitudes, in addition to economic considerations.

Abstract The grain-refining mechanism with minor Sr - Sc - La and ultrasonic vibration treatment (UVT) in the hypereutectic Al-20Si alloy were studied. The results demonstrated that the microstructure of the hypereutectic Al-20Si alloy could be refined significantly, further improve its mechanical properties. The desirable refinement of the microstructure was achieved using 0.2% Sr, 0.15% Sc, and 0.3% La under UVT, achieving the highest grain circularity coefficient, hardness, elongation, and area reduction. The tensile strength was the largest with the addition of 0.2% La. The findings of this study provide theoretical and experimental guidelines for the fabrication of structural materials for application in automotive, aerospace, and deep-sea equipment.

Abstract In this paper, we have focused on the investigation of the expression level of the enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) gene in bone marrow mononuclear cells of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and analyze the relationship between EZH2 gene expression and EMI. The expression of EZH2mRNA in bone marrow mononuclear cells of 26 patients with incipient AML was detected by qRT-PCR, and the relationship between EZH2mRNA expression and clinical characteristics was analyzed. EZH2 mRNA expression was increased in 26 AML patients. EZH2 gene expression in male patients was significantly higher than that in female patients. The expression of EZH2 in the group with extramedullary infiltration (EMI) was significantly higher than that in the group without EMI. The patients were divided into different groups according to the chromosomal karyotype and prognosis. Statistical analysis showed that the expression level of the medium-risk group was significantly higher than that of the low-risk group, while there was no statistical difference in other groups (P>0.05). The expression of EZH2 gene in AML patients was closely related to EMI, and the expression of EZH2 in AML cells was closely related to cell migration ability. EZH2 is expected to be one of the indicators of disease recurrence.

Abstract Humic lakes (HLs) are special water bodies (high organic matter content, low pH, and low transparency) that are important sources of major greenhouse gases. The knowledge about microbial functional potentials and the interactions among different genes in HL water has been scarcely understood. In this study, we used 16S rRNA gene sequencing and the GeoChip 5.0 to investigate microbial community compositions and functional gene structures in an HL and a reference weakly alkaline lake (RAL). The HL microbial communities showed distinct compositions and functional gene structures than those in the RAL. The functional gene diversity was significantly higher in the HL than in the RAL. Specifically, higher gene relative intensities in carbon and nitrogen fixations, the degradation of various types of carbon, methane oxidation and methanogenesis, ammonification, denitrification, and assimilatory N reduction were observed in the HL samples. By contrast, the metabolic potentials of microorganisms involved in dissimilatory N reduction, phosphorus degradation, and sulfur oxidation were weaker in the HL than in the RAL. Despite higher functional gene diversity, the interaction efficiency among genes (reflected by network geodesic distance and clustering coefficient) might be reduced in the HL. Different functional microbes may develop less interdependent relationships in acquiring nutrients given the high resource availability in the HL. Overall, the enhanced microbial metabolic potentials and less efficient functional interactions might have great consequences on nutrient cycling and greenhouse gas emissions in the HL ecosystem.

Abstract Abstract Sand and Dust Storms (SDS) pose considerable health risks worldwide. Previous studies only indicated risk of SDS on overall mortality. This nationwide multicenter time-series study aimed to examine SDS-associated mortality risks extensively. We analyzed 1,495,724 deaths and 2024 SDS events from 1 February to 31 May (2013–2018) in 214 Chinese counties. The excess mortality risks associated with SDS were 7.49% (95% CI: 3.12–12.05%), 5.40% (1.25–9.73%), 4.05% (0.41–7.83%), 3.45% (0.34–6.66%), 3.37% (0.28–6.55%), 3.33% (0.07–6.70%), 8.90% (4.96–12.98%), 12.51% (6.31–19.08%), and 11.55% (5.55–17.89%) for ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke, hypertensive heart disease, myocardial infarction, acute myocardial infarction, acute ischemic heart disease, respiratory disease, chronic lower respiratory disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respectively. SDS had significantly added effects on ischemic stroke, chronic lower respiratory disease, and COPD mortality. Our results suggest the need to implement public health policy against SDS.

Abstract The self-purification capacity of semi-closed bays is closely related to the exchange process of open sea water. In recent years, with the enhancement of human development activities, environmental problems such as eutrophication, weak hydrodynamics, and poor water exchange capacity have appeared in the bays. In this paper, the water exchange time and flow field in Jiaozhou Bay (JZB) were investigated using the environmental fluid dynamics code with a coupled dye module. Specifically, Jiaozhou Bay was divided into seven zones to explore the effect mechanism of a monsoon on the water exchange process. A detailed analysis was performed on the current water exchange status in the highly polluted northeastern region of the bay and its influence on the surrounding areas. Based on the definition of the average residence time and considering the effect of the tracer release moment, the distribution of the water exchange time in the bay under three circumstances was obtained. Results showed that the timing of the tracer release exerted minimal influence on the average residence time. The water exchange process was influenced by a combination of astronomical and meteorological factors. The overall exchange capacity of the bay was strongest under the impact of a winter monsoon and tides, followed by a summer monsoon and tides, and the weakest exchange occurred under the influence of tides alone. Moreover, both summer and winter monsoons greatly facilitated water exchange in the heavily polluted northeastern region. However, pollutants from this region had a significant impact on surrounding areas during a summer monsoon. Changes in the structure and intensity of residual flow fields were the primary causes of exchange rate discrepancies.

Abstract The proposal of perceptual loss solves the over-smoothing problem of images caused by pixel-wise loss and improves the visual quality of the images, but it also inevitably produces a large number of artifacts and distortions in images. The reason for this phenomenon is that the perceptual features only rely on a single pre-trained visual geometry group (VGG) network, which results in the features of the image being unable to be fully extracted, thus limiting the reasoning ability of the model. To fundamentally reduce the generation of artifacts and distortions, this paper proposes the Dual Perceptual Loss (DP Loss). First, we improve the perceptual feature extraction method so that it no longer only extracts single-type VGG features. In addition, a residual network (ResNet) feature that has a complementary relationship with the VGG feature can also be extracted. Then, we propose a dynamic weighting method to eliminate the magnitude difference between perceptual losses. Finally, to obtain the excellent effect of image reconstruction, enhanced super-resolution generative adversarial network (ESRGAN) with strong learning capability is used in this paper to adapt the complexity of DP Loss. The abundant experimental studies and evaluations are conducted on benchmark datasets. Results are encouraging and better than those previously reported on these datasets. The code is available at https://github.com/Sunny6-6-6/ESRGAN-DP.

Abstract Citrus psyllid is the main vector of Huanglongbing, and as such, it is responsible for huge economic losses across the citrus industry. The small size of this pest, difficulties in data acquisition, and the lack of target detection algorithms suitable for complex occlusion environments inhibit detection of the pest. The present paper describes the construction of a standard sample database of citrus psyllid in multi-focal lengths and out-of-focus states in the natural environment. By integrating the attention mechanism and optimizing the key module of BottleneckCSP, YOLOv5s-BC, we have created an accurate detection algorithm for small targets. Based on YOLOv5s, our algorithm incorporates an SE-Net channel attention module into the Backbone network and improves the detection of small targets by guiding the algorithm to the channel characteristics of small-target information. At the same time, the BottleneckCSP module in the neck network is improved, and extraction of multiple features of recognition targets is improved by the addition of a normalization layer and SiLU activation function. Experimental results based on a standard sample database show the recognition accuracy (intersection over union (IoU) = 0.5) of the YOLOv5s-BC algorithm for citrus psyllid to be 93.43%, 2.41% higher than that of traditional YOLOv5s. The accuracy and recall rates are also increased by 1.31% and 4.22%, respectively. These results confirm that the YOLOv5s-BC algorithm has good generalization ability in the natural context of citrus orchards, and it offers a new approach for the control of citrus psyllid.
