Abstract The situation at big for shelter animals in the US is improving. However, these animal shelters and rescues are overcrowded, and many animals get sick because of the unqualified hygiene conditions. The barriers that hinder the development of the non-profit industry of animal shelters and rescues are organization nature as non-profits, funding insufficiency, and lack of public relations strategies. Through technology, animal shelters and rescues can diversify their funding and adoption channels and actively raise awareness of animal protection among the public, leading to increasing motivation of adopting animals. This paper strives to present possible solutions and improvements through technology and informatization for the animal shelters and rescues industry.

Abstract The direct conversion of methane to high-value chemicals is an attractive process that efficiently uses abundant natural/shale gas to provide an energy supply. The direct conversion of methane to high-value chemicals is an attractive process that efficiently uses abundant natural/shale gas to provide an energy supply. Among all the routes used for methane transformation, nonoxidative conversion of methane is noteworthy owing to its highly economic selectivity to bulk chemicals such as aromatics and olefins. Innovations in catalysts for selective C-H activation and controllable C-C coupling thus play a key role in this process and have been intensively investigated in recent years. In this review, we briefly summarize the recent advances in conventional metal/zeolite catalysts in the nonoxidative coupling of methane to aromatics, as well as the newly emerging single-atom based catalysts for the conversion of methane to olefins. The emphasis is primarily the experimental findings and the theoretical understanding of the active sites and reaction mechanisms. We also present our perspectives on the design of catalysts for C-H activation and C-C coupling of methane, to shed some light on improving the potential industrial applications of the nonoxidative conversion of methane into chemicals.

Abstract Liquid biopsy is gradually being applied in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. At present, with the development of metabolomics, more and more metabolic biomarkers are considered as potential sensitive markers reflecting the occurrence and development of tumors. This article summarizes the changes in the main metabolic pathways of lung cancer, including glucose metabolism, amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, sphingolipid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, and purine metabolism. Meanwhile, this article reviews the role of metabolic biomarkers in the early diagnosis of lung cancer, predicting disease progression, and evaluating the efficacy of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, aiming to provide effective biomarkers for tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract Microtia is a congenital malformation of the external and middle ear associated with varying degrees of severity that range from mild structural abnormalities to the absence of the external ear and auditory canal. Globally, it is the second most common congenital craniofacial malformation and is typically caused by inherited defects, external factors, or the interaction between genes and external factors. Epigenetics notably represents a bridge between genetics and the environment. This review has devoted attention to the current proceedings of the genetics and epigenetics of microtia and related syndromes.

Abstract In recent years, unitized logistics is developing rapidly. As a core instrument, standardized pallet is gradually implemented in military logistics and commercial logistics. This paper expounds the concepts of unitized military logistics system and analyses the key elements. Then it summarizes three fundamental conditions to guarantee the system working fluently and three key problems, basing on the actual situation, about the work efficiency in support operation. Moreover, it analyzes the process of support pattern on three levels, from ‘supplier’, ‘battle warehouse, reserving and supplying base’ and ‘demand forces’ in this system. Finally, this paper analyzes the value from three angles, ‘military’, ‘economy’ and ‘society’, of this system.

Abstract The goal of regression is to recover an unknown underlying function that best links a set of predictors to an outcome from noisy observations. in nonparametric regression, one assumes that the regression function belongs to a pre-specified infinite-dimensional function space (the hypothesis space). in the online setting, when the observations come in a stream, it is computationally-preferable to iteratively update an estimate rather than refitting an entire model repeatedly. inspired by nonparametric sieve estimation and stochastic approximation methods, we propose a sieve stochastic gradient descent estimator (Sieve-SGD) when the hypothesis space is a Sobolev ellipsoid. We show that Sieve-SGD has rate-optimal mean squared error (MSE) under a set of simple and direct conditions. The proposed estimator can be constructed with a low computational (time and space) expense: We also formally show that Sieve-SGD requires almost minimal memory usage among all statistically rate-optimal estimators.

Abstract The goal of nonparametric regression is to recover an underlying regression function from noisy observations, under the assumption that the regression function belongs to a prespecified infinite-dimensional function space. In the online setting, in which the observations come in a stream, it is generally computationally infeasible to refit the whole model repeatedly. As yet, there are no methods that are both computationally efficient and statistically rate optimal. In this paper, we propose an estimator for online nonparametric regression. Notably, our estimator is an empirical risk minimizer in a deterministic linear space, which is quite different from existing methods that use random features and a functional stochastic gradient. Our theoretical analysis shows that this estimator obtains a rate-optimal generalization error when the regression function is known to live in a reproducing kernel Hilbert space. We also show, theoretically and empirically, that the computational cost of our estimator is much lower than that of other rate-optimal estimators proposed for this online setting.

Abstract Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) offers high degrees of freedom to create complex geometries with fine features. Controlling surface roughness is one of the means of improving mechanical and functional properties. This is critical for those surfaces that post-treatments cannot process. This study investigated the effects of a wide range of processing parameters grouped by energy density on surface roughness, particularly at vertical surfaces in L-PBF. The surface arithmetic average roughness, Sa, was measured via confocal microscopy. Scanning electron microscope was used to examine the detailed characteristics and the solidification microstructure on and near surfaces. Increasing laser power and speed under the identical energy density or increasing energy density under the equal speed results in rough vertical surfaces. Solidified melt tracks and partially remelted particles dominate the vertical surface roughness in cases with low energy densities. In contrast, the dross formation contributes to the high vertical surface roughness in cases with high energy densities. By examining the melt pool morphology and the solidification microstructure near the surfaces, the mechanism grounded on a multi-layer melt pool instability is proposed to explain the dominant factors for vertical surfaces. The insights into the formation of key surface characteristics can assist in designing process parameters and generating innovative methods to improve surface roughness.
