Abstract Piezoelectric materials that generate electricity when deforming are ideal for many implantable medical sensing devices. In modern piezoelectric materials, inorganic ceramics and polymers are two important branches, represented by lead zirconate titanate (PZT) and polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF). However, PVDF is a nondegradable plastic with poor crystallinity and a large coercive field, and PZT suffers from high sintering temperature and toxic heavy element. Here, we successfully design a metal-free small-molecule ferroelectric, 3,3-difluorocyclobutanammonium hydrochloride ((3,3-DFCBA)Cl), which has high piezoelectric voltage coefficients

Abstract Precise surveillance and assessment of spinal disorders are important for improving health care and patient survival rates. The assessment of spinal disorders, such as scoliosis assessment, depends heavily on precise vertebra landmark localization. However, existing methods usually search for only a handful of keypoints in a high-resolution image. In this paper, we propose the S2D-VLI VLDet network, a unified end-to-end vertebra landmark detection network for the assessment of scoliosis. The proposed network considers the spatially relevant information both from inside and between vertebrae. The new vertebral line interpolation method converts the training labels from sparse to dense, which can improve the network learning process and method performance. In addition, through the combined use of the Cartesian and polar coordinate systems in our method, the symmetric mean absolute percentage error (SMAPE) in scoliosis assessment can be reduced substantially. Specifically, as shown in the experiments, the SMAPE value decreases from 9.82 to 8.28. The experimental results indicate that our proposed approach is beneficial for estimating the Cobb angle and identifying landmarks in X-ray scans with low contrast.

Abstract Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing 20 (ZBTB20), which was initially identified in human dendritic cells, belongs to a family of transcription factors (TFs) with an N-terminal BTB domain and one or more C-terminal DNA-binding zinc finger domains. Under physiological conditions, ZBTB20 acts as a transcriptional repressor in cellular development and differentiation, metabolism, and innate immunity. Interestingly, multiple lines of evidence from mice and human systems have revealed the importance of ZBTB20 in the pathogenesis and development of cancers. ZBTB20 is not only a hotspot of genetic variation or fusion in many types of human cancers, but also a key TF or intermediator involving in the dysregulation of cancer cells. Given the diverse functions of ZBTB20 in both health and disease, we herein summarize the structure and physiological roles of ZBTB20, with an emphasis on the latest findings on tumorigenesis and cancer progression.

Abstract A coal model containing gangue was established by discrete elements to study the forces occurring when a shearer cuts coal, and a rigid-flexible coupled shearer section model was established in RecurDyn; the drum cutting process was simulated through bidirectional coupling. The dynamic distribution of the force chain was obtained when cutter teeth cut the coal rock. During the cutting process, the coal rock failure is caused by normal and tangential forces, with the latter having a major role. The ratio of the average tangential force to normal force was 1.34~1.79. When the rock is in the middle of the coal seam, the force (including normal and tangential forces) on the rock is the highest. Moreover, the force on the rock-coal interface is greater than that on the coal-rock interface. The results show that the force on the coal decreases with the increases in rotation speed. In contrast, the number of broken bonds increases. Further, the number of broken bonds and the force of coal increased nonlinearly with traction speed. Finally, the increase of tooth mounting angle decreased the force on the coal rock and the number of broken bonds, followed by an increase. As such, this study provides a reference for further theoretical research on forces in coal cutting.

Abstract Amide proton transfer (APT) imaging is a technique that reflects the level of amide proton transport of hydrogen ions in water to peptides and proteins within the tumour by using magnetic resonance imaging without contrast administration. This technique can more accurately reflect the protein level, pH value, and other relevant information within the tumour. Currently, APT is widely used in glioma research. In this paper, we briefly describe the research progress on this technique.

Abstract Few-shot knowledge graph completion (KGC) is an important and common task in real applications, which aims to predict unseen facts when only few samples are available for each relation in the knowledge graph (KG). Previous methods on few-shot KGC mainly focus on static KG, however, many KG in real-world applications are dynamic and develop over time. In this work, we consider few-shot KGC in temporal knowledge graphs (TKGs), where the fact may only hold for a specific timestamp. We propose a Few-Shot Completion model in TKG (TFSC), which compare the input query to the given few-shot references to make predictions. Specifically, in order to enhance the representation of entities in the case of few samples, we use the attention mechanism to model the neighbor entities of the task entity with timestamp information, and generate expressive time-aware entity pair representations through the Transformer encoder. A comprehensive set of experiments is finally carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness a of our proposed model TFSC.
