    Abstract Background: Secukinumab, a fully humanized monoclonal antibody against IL-17A, was approved for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in the USA and European Union in 2015.
    Objectives: Secukinumab, a fully humanized monoclonal antibody against IL-17A, was approved for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in the USA and European Union in 2015. The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of secukinumab for the treatment of moderate and severe plaque psoriasis and provide an evidence-based reference for clinical practice.
    Methods: PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, and Clinical Trials databases were searched. Pivotal phase III clinical trials were analysed. RevMan was used for the statistical analysis of the data.
    Results: Seven pivotal phase III clinical trials were analysed. All trials evaluated secukinumab in moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and had two common primary end points: the proportion of respondents to the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and the proportion of respondents to the Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA). The total response ratios of PASI and IGA respondents in the secukinumab group were 82.8 and 71.3%, respectively, compared to placebo. Secukinumab was superior to etanercept, with risk ratios of 1.7 and 2.1, respectively. Secukinumab was generally well tolerated during the 1-year trial period. However, adverse events also occurred.
    Conclusion: Secukinumab was found to be more effective than etanercept and had an acceptable safety profile. Since psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that requires lifelong treatment, attention should be paid to its adverse effects.

    Abstract In practical applications, the rapid and efficient detection of universal organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) can assist inspectors in quickly identifying the presence of OPs in samples. However, this presents a challenge for most well-established methods, typically designed to detect only a specific type of organophosphorus molecule at a time. In this proof-of-concept study, we draw inspiration from the structural similarities among OPs to develop innovative peptide-based fluorescence probes for the first time, which could efficiently detect a broad range of OPs within a mere 3 min. Analysis of fluorescence curve fitting reveals a clear linear correlation between the fluorescent intensity of the peptide probes and the concentration of OPs. Additionally, the selectivity analysis indicates that these peptide fluorescent probes exhibit an excellent response to various OPs while maintaining sufficient selectivity for detecting other pesticide types. Accurate sample analysis has also highlighted the potential of these peptide probes as practical tools for the rapid detection of OPs in actual vegetable samples. In summary, this proof-of-concept study presents an innovative approach to designing and developing ultrafast, universally peptide-based OP probes. These custom-designed peptide probes may facilitate rapid sample screening and offer initial quantification for OPs, potentially saving valuable time and effort in practical OP detection.

    Abstract Cryptosporidium is one of the most important genera of intestinal zoonotic pathogens that cause diarrhea in both humans and animals. Rodents are common and important hosts or carriers of pathogens with public health importance, and rodents play an important role in the ecology of zoonotic transmission. The overall worldwide prevalence of Cryptosporidium spp. in rodents is 19.8% (4589/23142). Twenty-five known Cryptosporidium species and 43 genotypes have been identified, and C. parvum is the dominant species in rodents worldwide. Rodents transfer pathogens to humans by the direct route or by serving as intermediate hosts transmitting the pathogens to other animals. We review the epidemiology, diversity, and transmission routes of Cryptosporidium spp. in rodents. The main purpose of this review is to highlight Cryptosporidium infection in rodents and its transmission, associated risk factors, and prevention; in addition, we assess the public health and ecological significance of Cryptosporidium infections from the One Health perspective.

    Abstract Study design: This is a retrospective study.
    Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of self-anchored lateral lumbar interbody fusion (SA-LLIF) in lumbar degenerative diseases.
    Methods: Forty-eight patients with lumbar degenerative disease between January 2019 and June 2020 were enrolled in this study. All patients complained of low back and leg pain, which were aggravated during standing activities and alleviated or disappeared during lying. After general anesthesia, the patient was placed in the right decubitus position. The anterior edge of the psoas major muscle was exposed through an oblique incision of approximately 6 cm, using an extraperitoneal approach. The psoas major muscle was then properly retracted dorsally to expose the disc. After discectomy, a suitable cage filled with autogenous bone graft from the ilium was implanted. Two anchoring plates were inserted separately into the caudal and cranial vertebral bodies to lock the cage. Clinical efficacy was evaluated using the visual analog scale (VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc height, spondylolisthesis rate, cage subsidence and fusion rate were also recorded.
    Results: A total of 48 patients were enrolled in this study, including 20 males and 28 females, aged 61.4 ± 7.3 (range 49-78) years old. Surgery was successfully performed in all patients. Lumbar stenosis and instability were observed in 22 cases, disc degenerative disease in eight cases, degenerative spondylolisthesis in nine cases, degenerative scoliosis in six cases, and postoperative revision in three cases. In addition, five patients were diagnosed with osteoporosis. The index levels included L2-3 in three patients, L3-4 in 13 patients, L4-5 in 23 patients, L2-4 in three patients, and L3-5 in six patients. The operation time was 81.1 ± 6.4 (range 65-102) min. Intraoperative blood loss was 39.9 ± 8.5 (range 15-72) mL. No severe complications occurred, such as nerve or blood vessel injuries. The patients were followed up for 11.7 ± 2.3 (range 4-18) months. At the last follow-up, the VAS decreased from 6.2 ± 2.3 to 1.7 ± 1.1, and the ODI decreased from 48.4% ± 11.2% to 10.9% ± 5.5%. Radiography showed satisfactory postoperative spine alignment. No cage displacement was found, but cage subsidence 2-3 mm was found in five patients without obvious symptoms, except transient low back pain in an obese patient. The lumbar lordosis recovered from 36.8° ± 7.9° to 47.7° ± 6.8°, and intervertebral disc height recovered from 8.2 ± 2.0 mm to 11.4 ± 2.5 mm. The spondylolisthesis rate decreased from 19.9% ± 4.9% to 9.4% ± 3.2%. The difference between preoperative and last follow-up was statistically significant (P<0.05).
    Conclusion: SA-LLIF can provide immediate stability and good results for lumbar degenerative diseases with a standalone anchored cage without posterior internal fixation.

    Abstract Objective: Hidden blood loss (HBL), as a perioperative complication of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) or percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP), affects the quality of life of older adults with poor health status, but it is often ignored by clinical surgeons. The purpose of this study was to discuss the risk factors for perioperative HBL through meta-analysis.
    Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wan Fang from establishment of the database to September 2022. All eligible studies regarding risk factors for HBL after PVP or PKP were included. Heterogeneity was assessed using the χ
    Results: Eleven studies involving 1506 patients were included and the average HBL of PKP and PVP was 278.57 mL and 276.12mL. The results showed that bone cement leakage (P < 0.0001), thoracic vertebra (P < 0.00001), bilateral surgical approach (P = 0.0008), ≥2 fracture segments (P < 0.00001), vertebral body height loss rate (≥1/3) (P < 0.00001), and vertebral body height restoration rate (≥1/3) (P < 0.00001) were risk factors for increased HBL. Diabetes (P = 0.12) and hypertension (P = 0.52) were not significantly associated with HBL.
    Conclusions: The findings of this meta-analysis suggested that fracture level, surgical approach, number of fracture levels, cement leakage, vertebral height loss and restoration rate were significant risk factors for HBL, which had certain guiding significance for clinical surgeons to take reasonable measures to deal with this complication.

    Abstract The adverse effects of life stress on social networking sites addiction are increasingly recognized, but so far there is little evidence on how and which specific types of life stress are conducive to the addictive behavior. Interpersonal relationship stress being the main source of stress for undergraduates, the purpose of the current paper is thus to delve into whether perceived stress in interpersonal relationships significantly leads to WeChat addiction and, if so, how this type of stress drives the excessive use of WeChat. The data was collected from self-report questionnaires completed by 463 Chinese undergraduate students and then analyzed with structural equation modeling. The results revealed that the positive association between WeChat users' interpersonal relationship stress and addictive behavior is fully and sequentially mediated by WeChat use intensity and social interaction. More specifically, accumulation of stress in interpersonal relationships gives rise to the intensity of WeChat use, which in turn fuels rising addiction to WeChat both directly and indirectly via social interaction on WeChat. These findings contribute to a more refined understanding of the pathological use of WeChat.

    Abstract As an emerging 3D printing technology, 3D bioprinting has shown great potential in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Decellularized extracellular matrices (dECM) have recently made significant research strides and have been used to create unique tissue-specific bioink that can mimic biomimetic microenvironments. Combining dECMs with 3D bioprinting may provide a new strategy to prepare biomimetic hydrogels for bioinks and hold the potential to construct tissue analogs in vitro, similar to native tissues. Currently, the dECM has been proven to be one of the fastest growing bioactive printing materials and plays an essential role in cell-based 3D bioprinting. This review introduces the methods of preparing and identifying dECMs and the characteristic requirements of bioink for use in 3D bioprinting. The most recent advances in dECM-derived bioactive printing materials are then thoroughly reviewed by examining their application in the bioprinting of different tissues, such as bone, cartilage, muscle, the heart, the nervous system, and other tissues. Finally, the potential of bioactive printing materials generated from dECM is discussed.
