    Abstract Black rice anthocyanins (BRA) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared using hyaluronic acid (HA), oxidized hyaluronic acid (OHA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) to enhance the absorption and bioactivity of anthocyanins (ACNs). Results showed that HA/OHA-BSA-BRA NPs had a spherical morphology and excellent dispensability, with hydrated radius ~ 500 nm, zeta potential ~ - 30 mV, and encapsulation efficiency ~21 %. Moreover, using in vitro gastrointestinal release assay, we demonstrated that both BRA-loaded NPs exhibited effective controlled release properties of ACNs, significantly enhancing the accessibility of ACNs to the intestine. Cellular experiments showed that both two NPs had good biocompatibility and increased uptake of BRA. Furthermore, in comparison to the free BRA group, both BRA NPs groups significantly decreased the TEER value and increased the expression of tight junction proteins (Claudin 1, Occludin and ZO-1) in Caco-2 cell monolayers with LPS-induced damage. Therefore, our study demonstrated that HA/OHA-BSA-BRA NPs are promising carriers of ACNs and can effectively prevent the LPS-induced intestinal barrier injury in vitro.

    Abstract Metallo-supramolecular polymer networks (MSPNs) are fabricated from the crosslinking of polymers by discrete supramolecular coordination complexes. Due to the availability of various coordination complexes, e.g., 2D macrocycles and 3D nanocages, the MSPNs have been recently developed with broadly tuned visco-elasticity and enriched functions inherited from the coordination complexes. The coordination complexes possess enriched topologies and unique structural relaxation dynamics, rendering them the capability to break the traditional tradeoffs of polymer systems for the design of materials with enhanced mechanical performance. The structure-property relationship studies are critical for the material-by-design of MSPNs, while the spatiotemporal investigations are desired for the exploration of dynamics information. The work summarizes recent studies on the unique ligand-exchange kinetics and the multi-level structural relaxation dynamics of MSPNs. The MSPNs' mechanical properties can be quantitatively correlated with the dynamics for understanding the structure-property relationship. This concept will not only serve to attract more researchers to engage in the study of the structure-activity relationship of MSPNs but also inspire innovative research findings pertaining to the application of MSPNs.

    Abstract This study aimed to (1) use the clustering method to build a classification model based on the play-type data of basketball players, to classify native and foreign players into different offensive roles; (2) use the clustered offensive role model to investigate how different offensive roles influence team performance. The sample was drawn from 20 teams spanning five seasons (2017-2021) in the Chinese Basketball Association, comprising 823 native and 228 foreign players. The clustering results obtained fourteen offensive roles for native players and five for foreign players.     Abstract Black phosphorus gives several advantages and complementarities over other two-dimensional materials. It has drawn extensive interest owing to its relatively high carrier mobility, wide tunable bandgap, and in-plane anisotropy in recent years. This manuscript briefly reviews the structure and physical properties of black phosphorus and targets on black phosphorus for photonic integrated circuits. Some of the applications are discussed including photodetection, optical modulation, light emission, and polarization conversion. Corresponding recent progresses, associated challenges, and future potentials are covered.

    Abstract With the rapid development of sonodynamic therapy (SDT), sonosensitizers have evolved from traditional treatments to comprehensive diagnostics and therapies. Sonosensitizers play a crucial role in the integration of ultrasound imaging (USI), X-ray computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diagnostics while also playing a therapeutic role. This review was based on recent articles on multifunctional sonosensitizers that were used in SDT for the treatment of cancer and have the potential for clinical USI, CT, and MRI applications. Next, some of the shortcomings of the clinical examination and the results of sonosensitizers in animal imaging were described. Finally, this paper attempted to inform the future development of sonosensitizers in the field of integrative diagnostics and therapeutics and to point out current problems and prospects for their application.

    Abstract Children's visual perceptions are critical for their comfort and health. This review explores the impacts of school indoor visual environment on children's health outcomes. A systematic search yielded 5704 articles, of which 32 studies were reviewed. Five environmental themes were identified: lighting, access to nature, window characteristics, art/environmental aesthetics, and ergonomics/spatial arrangement. Results affirm that visual environment affects children's health. There are disparities across environmental themes, with more extensive evidence for lighting and access to nature, but relatively limited in other areas. This study suggests a need for multi-disciplinary collaboration to develop a holistic perspective.

    Abstract Graphical abstract [Formula: see text] Numerous environmental factors frequently emerge as primary determinants of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Diet is a major component of environmental factors, and the consumption of vitamins (A, B, C and D) and trace elements (calcium, iron, zinc and selenium) exerts an impact on the progression of IBD through epigenetic modifications. Intake of vitamins A, B, C and D, as well as excessive amounts of iron and calcium, can modulate the condition of IBD by regulating the levels of DNA methylation, histone acetylation and miRNA. Zinc and selenium alleviate the progression of IBD by regulating the levels of promoter methylation or histone ubiquitination, respectively.     Abstract Polymer based low evaporation enthalpy materials have become a universal selection for improving the efficiency of solar steam generation. Although water cluster and intermediate water mechanisms have been proposed to explain the low evaporation enthalpy, the production process and microstructure of activated water are still unclear. Here, crystal plane engineering is used to investigate the intermediate water state and the water cluster activation mechanism. The unique open-closed coordination structure on the optimized crystal surface promotes the generation of firm water clusters by optimizing the intermediate water state. Under the similar solar energy absorption of all materials, crystal plane engineering increased the solar steam generation rate of the evaporator by 31.2% and increased the energy efficiency to 94.8%. Exploring the micro-evaporation process and activated water structure is expected to stimulate the development of the next generation low evaporation enthalpy materials.

    Abstract Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a refractory chronic inflammatory disease involving the colon and rectum, falling under the category of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in local tissues has been identified as a crucial contributor to the escalation of inflammatory responses. Therefore, eliminating ROS in the inflamed colon is a promising approach to treating UC. Nanomaterials with intrinsic enzyme-like activities (nanozymes) have shown significant therapeutic potential in UC. In this study, we found that platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) exhibited remarkable superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) cascade catalytic activities, as well as effective hydroxyl radical (•OH) scavenging ability. The in vitro experiments showed that Pt NPs could eliminate excessive ROS to protect cells against oxidative stress. In the colitis model, oral administration of Pt NPs (loaded in chitosan/alginate hydrogel) could significantly alleviate UC, including reducing the colon length, the damaged epithelium, and the infiltration of inflammatory cells. Without appreciable systemic toxicity, Pt NPs represent a novel therapeutic approach to UC and are expected to achieve long-term inflammatory remission.

    Abstract Fatty liver disease is one of the most prevalent chronic liver disease worldwide and the gut-liver axis is recognized as increasingly prominent in fatty liver disease. Intestinal dysfunction can affect the occurrence or progression of liver disease, therein, validating the critical role of the intestinal immune cells. Enormous literature reported that macrophages, lymphocyte, dendritic cells (DCs) and other immune cells in the gut as well as their subsets may regulate the fatty liver disease progression via different mechanisms, including disruption of intestinal barrier, dysregulation of intestinal lipid transporters and mediating immune cell migration to liver.
