Abstract This study identifies the health effect of rising housing prices on individual physical health using the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) data. Exploiting exogenous housing prices, I find that rising housing prices adversely affect physical health status. Heterogeneity analyses yield interesting findings. First, the adverse effects of high housing prices are pronounced in the group owning only one house. Second, significant effects of housing prices on health for the group aged 20 to 45 are observed, with no effects for the elderly group above 45. Third, males are more sensitive to high housing prices due to the intensified competition and traditional gender norm in marriage markets. I also further investigate the channel through which housing prices affect individual physical health. The findings indicate that rising housing prices can damage individual physical health via lowering social status, reducing physical exercise time and increasing mental health risk.

Abstract The prevention and diagnosis of lung cancer in the Chinese population has received extensive attention in past few years. Many studies have suggested that genetic predisposition may be a risk factor for lung cancer and an important means for early diagnosis of carcinoma of the lung. At present, the research on the molecular mechanism of lung cancer has been carried out on the whole genome, and a large number of SNPs have also been found in the Chinese population, these results suggest that the genetic predisposing factors of lung cancer in Chinese population are different from those in foreign population.

Abstract At the heart of the relational theory, which stems from psychological studies, is the contention that the human mind is formed within interpersonal relationships. In the present paper, the aim is to show that the same goes for emotions. More importantly, in educational settings, the relationships between and among the individuals especially the teacher-student relationships lead to the emergence of different emotions. The present paper shows how the relational theory can be used in the second language acquisition domain to explain the development of different L2 emotions that learners experience while interactively involved in acquiring a second language in class. What is mostly emphasized in this paper is the teacher-student relationships that occur in L2 classes and accommodate the L2 emotions. The related literature on teacher-student relationships and emotional development in L2 classrooms is reviewed, and insightful remarks are provided for L2 teachers, teacher trainers, learners, and researchers.

Abstract The response characteristics of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) serve as the basis for selecting calibration methods in quantitative analysis. LC-MS/MS inherently exhibits nonlinear detection behavior, primarily attributed to the disproportionate growth observed between peak area and peak height at elevated response levels, potentially leading to signal saturation. This disproportionate peak growth results in reduced unit response (UR), which quantifies the instrument's detection sensitivity. LC-MS/MS typically operates within a narrow near-linear response range (NLRR) due to approximately proportional peak growth, yet the NLRR width varies across different analytes or platforms. Although the inclusion of stable isotope-labeled (SIL) internal standards (IS) in LC-MS/MS analysis can mitigate certain instrument response variations, it does not eliminate the fundamental cause of nonlinearity. Moreover, the concentration range accommodated by the NLRR can significantly fluctuate at different sensitivity levels. LC-MS/MS also encounters various other nonlinear effects, including ion suppression during ionization, signal cross-contribution between the analyte/IS, and matrix effects (ME). Consequently, quadratic regression emerges as a more adaptable approach to LC-MS/MS nonlinear response dynamics, offering a broader calibration range. The application of linear regression, on the other hand, requires strict conditions. Although the signal saturation zone typically remains inaccessible to calibration methods, reducing responses by employing less-optimal selected reaction monitoring (SRM) transitions and/or lower detection gain can facilitate fitting a wide concentration range into the NLRR, thereby enabling accurate linear regression calibration. This report delves into examining the LC-MS/MS response profile, its dynamics, and major nonlinear effects through instrument response mapping to elucidate their influence on the selection of calibration methods.

Abstract Morphology is the study of word forms and the ways in which words are varied and related to other words in a language. It has been regarded as an essential discipline that is indispensable in language acquisition. It helps learners to figure out the word structure and meaning, particularly the meaning changing of morphemes, which is pivotal for defining words. The present study focuses on developing morphological knowledge with online corpora which are the useful tools for teaching and learning the changes happened in English. Given this light, this research reports an ESL vocabulary classroom in which the instructor designs vocabulary classroom activities with COCA, BNC, TIME MAGAZINE corpus to enrich students' English vocabulary knowledge, help them master word usage, and foster their corpus literacy. This study is oriented by the framework of Classroom Action Research (CAR). Students' classroom performances were recorded and their self-reflections of learning experiences were collected for thematic analysis. The results indicate that, firstly, students' morphological knowledge has been developed as well as their vocabulary knowledge; secondly, their vocabulary self-regulated learning motivation has been incentivised that they are able to answer their own queries about words; thirdly, students' corpus literacy has been fostered, which facilitates their ongoing vocabulary learning; last but not least, a community of inquiry has been established in which students collaborate to construct vocabulary knowledge. The study has wider implications for constructing the student-centered vocabulary classroom and implementing corpus-based instruction in other second language vocabulary classrooms.

Abstract High-intensity sports make tendon injury of professional athletes occur frequently. However, tendon adhesion in the healing process of tendon injury seriously affects the normal functional training of athletes after rehabilitation. Therefore, based on the theory of tendon injury healing, the MRDM image data of tendon injury healing are obtained by using medical image analysis technology, and the useless image data are screened by using the RANSAC algorithm. Through the analysis of filtered MRDM image data, it is found that the application of biomaterials has a positive effect on promoting the stable healing of tendon. A multilevel model was used to evaluate the actual effect of several commonly used biomaterials in repairing tendon injury and adhesion. The results showed that sodium hyaluronate had the best repair effect on tendon injury.

Abstract Few-Shot Learning has had a significant influence on how people live, work, and learn. Physical education is a requirement for a college diploma. Sports management systems, which focus on data collection, organization, and analysis, as well as timeliness and guidance, are one of the current challenges in the field of physical education at the country's top colleges and universities. The amount of sex in the room is minimal. Time is money when it comes to making college sports decisions, and this paper uses data from physical fitness tests to illustrate this point. Use Few-Shot Learning technology to extract relevant data from the data, allowing teachers to provide more scientific and effective guidance and suggestions to students. The design and implementation of this paper collect data from physical fitness tests in real-time using mobile edge computing, analyze the data, and display the results using machine learning technology, which mines deep features and displays analysis results, can be used to evaluate students' physical fitness. The data and information in the physical fitness analysis system are more readable and time-saving, allowing students to better understand their true level of physical fitness. Because of the results of data mining, teachers can provide more specific guidance and recommendations for each student's physical characteristics.

Abstract This study used Chinese visiting scholars in the UK as a sample, discussed Chinese visiting scholars’ cross-cultural adaptation from the perspectives of linguistic confidence, cultural confidence and academic confidence, analyzed the correlation among the three types of confidence, and then proposed the concept of establishing a positive international profile of Chinese visiting scholars. It was recommended that Chinese visiting scholars should make more improvements in their cross-cultural adaptation. They should become the representative of China’s international image, and play a more active role in further internationalizing of Chinese higher education.
