Abstract Aortic dissection is a life-threatening disease with acute onset, rapid progression and high mortality.Hemodynamic factors have important reference value in the development and treatment of aortic dissection.Computational fluid dynamics can intuitively and visually simulate the hemodynamic state of human blood vessels and quantify it numerically. However, computational fluid dynamics without fluid-structure interaction analysis cannot reflect the real situation of the human body. Therefore, the fluid-structure interaction numerical simulation of aortic dissection is worthy of further study to achieve more accurate evaluation of hemodynamic state, postoperative effect and risk prediction. In this paper, the application and research progress of computational fluid dynamics based on fluid-structure interaction technology in aortic dissection are briefly reviewed.

Abstract Oral soft tissue engineering involves the reconstruction or restoration of oral and maxillofacial functions and esthetics. As an emerging technology from the early 21st century, three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting promises great application potentials in the preparation of scaffolds and engineered tissues/organs. Although oral soft tissues include dental pulp, periodontal ligament, gum, oral mucosa, and salivary glands as well as related maxillofacial skin, vascular, muscular, and neuronal tissues, the current application of 3D bioprinting in oral soft tissue-restoration is mainly limited to dental pulp-regeneration. Different bioinks are used to load dental pulp cells into the dentin matrix for restoring the dental pulp tissue; 3D bioprinting has only been reported in a few

Abstract In X-ray diffraction measurements, the angular resolution has a detection limit due to the receiving size of the detector. In many cases this detection limit is too large and must be breached to obtain the desired information. A novel method is proposed here by making the detector simultaneously measuring and moving. Using the deconvolution algorithm to remove the convolution effect, the pixel size limitation is finally broken. The algorithm used is not a common one, and suppresses signals at high frequencies, ensuring the reliability of the peak shape after restoration. The feasibility of this method is verified by successfully measuring the crystal truncation rod signal of SrTiO

Abstract Müller cells are important glial cells in the retina, which play important roles in maintaining the stability of the retina by mechanical support, homeostasis, and physiological metabolism, as well as protecting photoreceptor cells and retinal pigment epithelial cells. The degeneration and destruction of Müller cells are often accompanied by various retinal diseases, and the function of Müller cells is changed under pathological conditions. Based on the summary of the morphology, distribution and function of Müller cells, this article analyzes the different manifestations and changes of Müller cells in different stages of macular hole and the closely related mechanisms, aiming to clarify the role of Müller cells in the formation and development of macular hole and to provide reference for the prediction of disease progression and guidance of treatment.(This article was published ahead of print on the official website of Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology on Augest 28, 2023).

Abstract Objective: Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm is one of the most challenging aortic diseases. Open surgical repair remains constrained with considerable perioperative morbidity and mortality. The emergence of a hybrid approach utilizing visceral debranching with endovascular aneurysm repair has brought an alternative for high-risk patients. This study aimed to compare the short- and long-term outcomes between hybrid and open repairs in the treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms.
Methods: In this retrospectively observational study, patients with thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm treated in a single center between January 2008 and December 2019 were reviewed, of whom 11 patients with hybrid repair, and 18 patients with open repair were identified. Demographic characteristic, operative data, perioperative morbidity and mortality, freedom from reintervention, and long-term survival were compared between the two groups.
Results: In the hybrid repair group, the patients with dissection aneurysm, preoperative combined renal insufficiency, and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score of 3 or more were significantly overwhelming than in the open repair group. The operation time of debranching hybrid repair was (445±85) min, and the intraoperative blood loss was (955±599) mL. There were 2 cases of complications in the early 30 days after surgery, without paraplegia, and 1 case died. The 30-day complication rate was 18.2%, and the 30-day mortality was 9.1%. The operation time of the patients with open repair was (560±245) min, and the intraoperative blood loss was (6 100±4 536) mL. Twelve patients had complications in the early 30 days after surgery, including 1 paraplegia and 4 deaths within 30 days. The 30-day complication rate was 66.7%, and the 30-day mortality was 22.2%. The bleeding volume in hybrid repair was significantly reduced compared with open repair (
Conclusion: Hybrid approach utilizing visceral debranching with endovascular aneurysm repair is a safe and effective surgical method for high-risk patients with thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms. The incidence of early postoperative complications and mortality is significantly reduced compared with traditional surgery, but the efficacy in the medium and long term still needs to be improved.
