    Abstract The grey wolf optimization algorithm (GWO) is a new metaheuristic algorithm. The GWO has the advantages of simple structure, few parameters to adjust, and high efficiency, and has been applied in various optimization problems. However, the orginal GWO search process is guided entirely by the best three wolves, resulting in low population diversity, susceptibility to local optima, slow convergence rate, and imbalance in development and exploration. In order to address these shortcomings, this paper proposes an adaptive dynamic self-learning grey wolf optimization algorithm (ASGWO). First, the convergence factor was segmented and nonlinearized to balance the global search and local search of the algorithm and improve the convergence rate. Second, the wolves in the original GWO approach the leader in a straight line, which is too simple and ignores a lot of information on the path. Therefore, a dynamic logarithmic spiral that nonlinearly decreases with the number of iterations was introduced to expand the search range of the algorithm in the early stage and enhance local development in the later stage. Then, the fixed step size in the original GWO can lead to algorithm oscillations and an inability to escape local optima. A dynamic self-learning step size was designed to help the algorithm escape from local optima and prevent oscillations by reasonably learning the current evolution success rate and iteration count. Finally, the original GWO has low population diversity, which makes the algorithm highly susceptible to becoming trapped in local optima. A novel position update strategy was proposed, using the global optimum and randomly generated positions as learning samples, and dynamically controlling the influence of learning samples to increase population diversity and avoid premature convergence of the algorithm. Through comparison with traditional algorithms, such as GWO, PSO, WOA, and the new variant algorithms EOGWO and SOGWO on 23 classical test functions, ASGWO can effectively improve the convergence accuracy and convergence speed, and has a strong ability to escape from local optima. In addition, ASGWO also has good performance in engineering problems (gear train problem, ressure vessel problem, car crashworthiness problem) and feature selection.

    Abstract This study aimed to analyze multiomics data and construct a regulatory network involving kinases, transcription factors, and immune genes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) prognosis. The researchers used transcriptomic, proteomic, and clinical data from TCGA and GEO databases to identify immune genes associated with HCC. Statistical analysis, meta-analysis, and protein-protein interaction analyses were performed to identify key immune genes and their relationships. In vitro and in vivo experiments validated the CDK1-SRC-HSP90AB1 network's effects on HCC progression and antitumor immunity. A prognostic risk model was developed using clinicopathological features and immune infiltration. The immune genes LPA, BIRC5, HSP90AB1, ROBO1, and CCL20 were identified as the key prognostic factors. The CDK1-SRC-HSP90AB1 network promoted HCC cell proliferation and migration, with HSP90AB1 being transcriptionally activated by the CDK1-SRC interaction. Manipulating SRC or HSP90AB1 reversed the effects of CDK1 and SRC on HCC. The CDK1-SRC-HSP90AB1 network also influenced HCC tumor formation and antitumor immunity. Overall, this study highlights the importance of the CDK1-SRC-HSP90AB1 network as a crucial immune-regulatory network in the HCC prognosis.

    Abstract Surgical pathology workflow involves multiple labor-intensive steps, such as tissue removal, fixation, embedding, sectioning, staining, and microscopic examination. This process is time-consuming and costly and requires skilled technicians. In certain clinical scenarios, such as intraoperative consultations, there is a need for faster histologic evaluation to provide real-time surgical guidance. Currently, frozen section techniques involving hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining are used for intraoperative pathology consultations. However, these techniques have limitations, including a turnaround time of 20 to 30 minutes, staining artifacts, and potential tissue loss, negatively impacting accurate diagnosis. To address these challenges, researchers are exploring alternative optical imaging modalities for rapid microscopic tissue imaging. These modalities differ in optical characteristics, tissue preparation requirements, imaging equipment, and output image quality and format. Some of these imaging methods have been combined with computational algorithms to generate H&E-like images, which could greatly facilitate their adoption by pathologists. Here, we provide a comprehensive, organ-specific review of the latest advancements in emerging imaging modalities applied to nonfixed human tissue. We focused on studies that generated H&E-like images evaluated by pathologists. By presenting up-to-date research progress and clinical utility, this review serves as a valuable resource for scholars and clinicians, covering some of the major technical developments in this rapidly evolving field. It also offers insights into the potential benefits and drawbacks of alternative imaging modalities and their implications for improving patient care.

    Abstract An open challenge remained in designing an optical system to capture the aerial image with a wide field of view (FoV) and high resolution. The optical system of one camera from a single unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can hardly promise the FoV and resolution. The conventional swarm UAVs can form the camera array with a short or fixed baseline. They can capture the images with a wide FoV and high resolution, but the cost is the requirement of many UAVs. We aim to design a camera array with a wide and dynamic baseline to reduce the demand for UAVs to organize a synthetic optical aperture. In this thought, we propose a master-slave UAVs-based synthetic optical aperture imaging system with a wide and dynamic baseline. The system consists of one master UAV and multiple slave UAVs. Master and slave UAVs provide the global and local FoVs, respectively, and improve the efficiency of image acquisition. In such a system, fusing UAV images becomes a new challenge due to two factors: (i) the small FoV overlap of slave UAVs and (ii) the gap in resolution scale from slave to master UAV images. To deal with it, a coarse-to-fine stitching method is proposed to stitch up the multi-view images into one to obtain a wide FoV with high resolution. A video stabilization method has also been designed for the proposed imaging system. Challenges caused by wide and dynamic baselines can thus be solved by the above methods. Actual data experiments demonstrate that the proposed imaging system achieves high-quality imaging results.

    Abstract Recent success stories in reinforcement learning have demonstrated that leveraging structural properties of the underlying environment is key in devising viable methods capable of solving complex tasks. We study off-policy learning in discounted reinforcement learning, where some equivalence relation in the environment exists. We introduce a new model-free algorithm, called QL-ES (Q-learning with equivalence structure), which is a variant of (asynchronous) Q-learning tailored to exploit the equivalence structure in the MDP. We report a non-asymptotic PAC-type sample complexity bound for QL-ES, thereby establishing its sample efficiency. This bound also allows us to quantify the superiority of QL-ES over Q-learning analytically, which shows that the theoretical gain in some domains can be massive. We report extensive numerical experiments demonstrating that QL-ES converges significantly faster than (structure-oblivious) Q-learning empirically. They imply that the empirical performance gain obtained by exploiting the equivalence structure could be massive, even in simple domains. To the best of our knowledge, QL-ES is the first provably efficient model-free algorithm to exploit the equivalence structure in finite MDPs.

    Abstract The pollution release and the antiscourability characteristics of pipe sewage sediments can directly determine the blockage status of pipelines and the treatment burden at the outflow (sewage treatment plant). In this study, sewer environments with different burial depths were designed to explore the impact of incubation time on microbial activity, and the impacts of microbial activity on the physicochemical characteristics, pollution release effect and antiscouring ability of the silted sediment in the drainage pipe were further explored. The results showed that the incubation time, sediment matrix, temperature and dissolved oxygen affected microbial activity, but temperature had a greater influence. These factors affected microbial activity and loosened the superstructure in the sediment. In addition, by measuring the indices of nitrogen and phosphorus in the overlying water, it was found that sediment incubated for a certain time released pollutants into the overlying water, and the release amount was obviously affected by high temperature (e.g. 35 ℃). After a certain time (e.g. 30 days), biofilms appeared on the sediment surface, and the antiscourability of sediment was significantly improved, which was reflected in the increase in the median particle size of sediment left in the pipe.

    Abstract Purpose: Studies reported that 5-methylcytosine (m5C) RNA transferase alters tumor progression; however, studies of m5C-related lncRNA remain lacking. This article intends to study the lncRNA modified by m5C RNA transferase in hepatocellular carcinoma using a combination of computational biology and basic experiments.
    Method: We identified 13 m5C RNA transferase-related genes and selected long non-coding RNAs with a Pearson correlation coefficient greater than 0.4. Univariate Cox regression analysis was used to screen m5C RNA transferase lncRNA related to survival phenotype. We divided TCGA-LIHC into two types of m5C RNA using non-negative matrix decomposition. According to WGCNA, the co-expression models of two lncRNA regulation modes were constructed to analyze the characteristic biological processes of the two m5C RNA transferase-related lncRNA gene models. Then, a predictive model of m5C RNA transferase lncRNA was using LASSO regression. Finally, we used cell experiments, transwell experiments, and clone formation experiments to test the relationship between SNHG4 and tumor cell proliferation in Hep-G2 and Hep-3b cells line.
    Results: We identified 436 m5C RNA transferase-related lncRNAs. Using univariate Cox regression analysis, 43 prognostic-related lncRNAs were determined according to P < 0.001. We divided TCGA-LIHC into two regulation modes of m5C RNA transferase using non-negative matrix factorization. The two regulation modes showed significant differences in overall and disease-free survival. We used LASSO to construct m5c-related lncRNA prognostic signature. Thus, a predictive m5C-lncRNA model was established using four lncRNAs: AC026412.3, AC010969.2, SNHG4, and AP003392.5. The score calculated by the m5C-lncRNA model significantly correlated with the overall survival of hepatocellular carcinoma. The receiver operating characteristic curve and decision curve analysis verified the accuracy of the predictive model. We observed a more robust immune response in the high-risk score group. The transwell experiments and clone formation experiments suggested that m5C RNA transferase-related lncRNA SNHG4 promotes the proliferation and migration of Hep-G2 and Hep-3b cells line.
    Conclusion: Two lncRNA expression patterns regulated by m5C RNA transferase were identified. The difference between the two expression patterns and the survival phenotype in the biological process was pointed out. A 5-methylcytosine RNA methyltransferases-related lncRNA overall survival signature was constructed. These results provide some understanding of the influence of m5C transferase on hepatocellular carcinoma. The prediction model of m5C transferase lncRNA has potential clinical value in managing hepatocellular carcinoma.

    Abstract The current situation and future development of the supply and demand coupling coordination of elderly care service resources reflect the level of elderly care service resource allocation. Whether factors affecting its development can be found is the key to promote the accurate allocation of elderly care service. Based on the coupling coordination model, the supply and demand of elderly care service resources, the development circumstance and the spatio-temporal evolution of supply and demand coupling coordination are analyzed in this paper by using the data of the elderly care service resources in 31 regions and autonomous regions in China from 2010 to 2019. The result shows that there are regional differences in the development of supply and demand coupling coordination of elderly care service resources. The degree of supply and demand coupling coordination of elderly care service resources in the western and northern regions is lower than that in the eastern and southern regions. Although the level in most areas of supply and demand coupling coordination of elderly care service resources will improve in the future, there is still a gap from good coordination. In order to strengthen the supply of elderly care service resources, and promote the upgrade of the supply and demand of elderly care service resources, the government should start from the demand of the elderly to increase investment in infrastructure construction, investment in elderly care services resources, talent training and other aspects.
