    Abstract One belt, one road initiative, China needs comprehensive talents with international vision, international working background, international finance and international economic management. In order to improve college students’ intercultural communicative competence, China attaches importance to foreign cultural exchange and comprehensively improves the cultivation of foreign communicative competence. Students’ awareness of cross-cultural communication is weak and their communicative competence is lacking. In addition to enriching students’ cross-cultural communication ability, it is urgent to cultivate students’ comprehensive language competence. The rapid changes and development of economic globalization and information technology have promoted the frequent communication between different cultures. Such a development trend also puts forward higher requirements for the talent training of university teaching at this stage. The teaching of each university pays more attention to the application ability of language knowledge and the ability of international communication and communication in the future work and social communication. In the actual teaching process, due to the lack of practical communicative situations, most of the teaching still stay in the aspects of historical and cultural background, mode of thinking, pragmatic principles, values and social norms of different nationalities, and there are few opportunities to experience the coding and decoding in actual communication, and the related obstacles and misunderstandings in the process are even more difficult to understand. Therefore, cross-cultural practice should be placed on the same important position as the cognition of language and culture knowledge. Combined with the rapid development of network information technology, the creation of optimized teaching and practice integration paradigm has become the research and development trend of cultivating cross-cultural communication ability in today’s information society.

    Abstract Traumatic testicular dislocation is rare and usually occurs in patients after a traumatic motor accident. Manual reduction or surgical exploration is the main treatment for this condition. We report a rare case of unilateral traumatic testicular dislocation in a man with an ectopic testis in the middle of the penis after a motorcycle crash injury. On the sixth day of hospitalization, the patient found a lump in the middle of his penis. Doppler ultrasound showed an ectopic testicle in the middle of the penis with good blood flow. After consultation, a manual reduction was successfully performed. A careful physical examination should be performed in patients with multiple injuries from the first medical exam. Early detection and timely reduction are critical to protect testicular function.

    Abstract Recent evidence has proved that curcumin as a natural polyphenol have a great anticancer and anti-proliferative effects in cancer cells. Ferroptosis, a new form of regulated cell death, plays a vital role in the pathogenesis and therapy of cancers. In this study, we aimed to examine the effects of curcumin in ferroptosis of human colorectal cancer cells and its underlying molecular mechanisms. SW-480 colorectal cancer cells were treated by curcumin with different concentrations. Cell viability was determined by using MTT assay. The concentrations of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and intracellular iron were measured using specific related kits. Real-time PCR and Western blot analysis were used to determine the expression of ferroptosis-related proteins including ACSL4, GPx4 and FTH1 and activation of JNK protein. Curcumin suppressed SW-480 cancer cells viability in dose-dependent manner. Cell treatment with curcumin led to accumulation of ROS and iron within cells and increase in the intracellular levels of lipid peroxidation. In addition, curcumin modulated the mRNA and protein expression levels of ferroptosis-related proteins including ACSL4, GPx4 and FTH1 and suppression of JNK signaling. Curcumin may exhibit its anticancer effect on colorectal cancer by downregulating JNK signaling to induce ferroptosis in SW-480 cells.

    Abstract Light-mediated therapeutics, including photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy and light-triggered drug delivery, have been widely studied due to their high specificity and effective therapy. However, conventional light-mediated therapies usually depend on the activation of light-sensitive molecules with UV or visible light, which have poor penetration in biological tissues. Over the past decade, efforts have been made to engineer nanosystems that can generate luminescence through excitation with near-infrared (NIR) light, ultrasound or X-ray. Certain nanosystems can even carry out light-mediated therapy through chemiluminescence, eliminating the need for external activation. Compared to UV or visible light, these 4 excitation modes penetrate more deeply into biological tissues, triggering light-mediated therapy in deeper tissues. In this review, we systematically report the design and mechanisms of different luminescent nanosystems excited by the 4 excitation sources, methods to enhance the generated luminescence, and recent applications of such nanosystems in deep tissue light-mediated therapeutics.

    Abstract Backward particle tracking (BPT) remains a subject of research and applications in hydrology for decades, and most BPT models and software suits assume Fickian diffusion even though pollutant transport in natural aquifers is usually non‐Fickian. To fill this knowledge gap, BPT models were presented in this study for pollutants undergoing sub/super‐diffusion in multi‐dimensional geological media. The resultant BPT governing equations were adjoint models derived for four equally possible, vector fractional diffusion equations. BPT solvers followed a two‐step backward Lagrangian scheme, which differed from its forward Lagrangian scheme in super‐dispersive jumps and boundary conditions. BPT parameter estimability depended on the type of parameters and aquifers according to Monte Carlo analyses: (a) most parameters could be estimated using medium properties or tracer snapshots, while the mean velocity and the space‐dependent dispersion coefficient had poor estimability, and (b) fractured aquifers had a lower estimability for BPT parameters than alluvial aquifers. Mathematical evaluation and field applications showed that the adjoint of the vector fractional‐divergence advection‐dispersion equation (FD‐ADE) identified the source location of pollutants undergoing multiscaling super‐diffusion better than the other BPT models. The adjoint of the vector FD‐ADE and its Lagrangian solver, therefore, were recommended to backtrack pollutants undergoing anomalous transport in aquifers with various degrees of heterogeneity and any dimension and boundary conditions.

    Abstract Objective: To explore the effect of new antiseizure medication on bone metabolism and bone mineral density in children
    Methods: The Chinese and English databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP) were systematically searched for observational studies evaluating the effects of new antiseizure medication on bone metabolism and bone mineral density in children with epilepsy. The effects of new antiseizure medication on serum calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase, bone alkaline phosphatase, parathyroid hormone, 25-hydroxyvitamin D and bone mineral density in children were systematically evaluated.
    Results: After systematic retrieval and screening, 12 studies with high literature quality (including 629 epileptic children and 627 control subjects) were included in the systematic evaluation. Meta-analysis showed that new antiseizure medication decreased bone mineral density (MD: -0.05, 95%CI, -0.09, -0.02;
    Conclusion: New antiseizure medication have different effects on bone metabolism and bone mineral density in children with epilepsy, and the effects of different types of new antiseizure medication are different.

    Abstract Bispecific antibodies have drawn considerate research interests for therapeutic development. Numerous genetic and chemical methods are established to produce bispecific antibodies with varied formats. This protocol describes a novel approach to the synthesis of bispecific antibodies by utilizing chemically functionalized poly-ADP-ribose polymers derived from post-translational poly-ADP-ribosylation. Basic Protocol 1 includes experimental procedures for expressing and purifying recombinant full-length human poly-ADP-ribose polymerase 1 (PARP1) as well as monoclonal antibodies targeting T-cell CD3 and breast cancer tumor-associated human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) molecules. Basic Protocol 2 details methods for enzymatic preparation of functionalized poly-ADP-ribose polymers by PARP1 and chemical conjugation of antibody molecules for bispecific antibody production. © 2023 The Authors.
