Abstract Salmonella enterica is a common foodborne pathogen responsible for major global health problems such as paratyphoid fever and gastroenteritis. Here, we report the prevalence, antibiotic resistance phenotypes, serotypes, and molecular subtyping of Salmonella isolated from eggs in Guangdong, China. Out of 1,000 egg samples, 54 (5.40%) were positive. S. Enteritidis made up the largest proportion of samples with 11 serotypes. Antimicrobial susceptibility test indicated that most strains were resistant to β‐lactam, aminoglycoside, and tetracycline antibiotics (27.00%–40.00%). There were 37 STs based on MLST typing. MLST and ERIC‐PCR classified 54 isolates into three and five clusters, respectively, which revealed the genetic relatedness and diversity. In conclusion, frequent monitoring of eggs for Salmonella, antibiotic resistance profiles and genetic diversity is essential for improving food safety.

Abstract The multi-model ensemble mean sea surface temperature (SST) of CMIP5 models shows an El Niño-like Pacific warming (PW) trend, contradictory with the observational result which manifests a La Niña-like PW pattern. Here, we demonstrate that these two SST PWs coexist in the CMIP5 models and they are largely determined by the model's tropical Indo-Pacific SST gradient. When the Pacific warms faster than the Indian Ocean (IO), the model tends to project an El Niño-like PW pattern. In contrast, a La Niña-like warming trend prevails if a more rapid IO warming is simulated. We suggest that the PW pattern in an individual model is nonstationary and may transform from a La Niña-like to an El Niño-like when its interbasin SST gradient changes with more robust warming in the Pacific, and vice versa. Moreover, based on large ensembles from both individual models and intermodels of CMIP5, we confirm that the interbasin SST gradient between IO and Pacific is tuned by the model internal oceanic and atmospheric processes. Our conclusions shed great light on the future SST PW pattern change projected by the coupled models.

Abstract The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) in the subpolar North Atlantic has vital impacts on global climate. This study diagnoses the AMOC characteristics using a high resolution data assimilative reanalysis product. Its results are evaluated against the latest observations collected by trans-basin mooring arrays. The meridional volume transport across the section from Greenland to Scotland(i.e., the East Section) is much stronger than that in the Labrador Sea(i.e., the West Section). While the boundary currents in the Labrador Sea show substantial seasonal changes, their compensations yield a very weak seasonality in the AMOC strength. On the other hand, the AMOC across the East section has an apparent seasonal cycle with density changes in the Irminger Basin playing a dominant role. The AMOC interannual variations have comparable amplitudes in both West and East sections. In addition, we further split the AMOC fluctuations into components associated with barotropic and baroclinic processes. The decomposed fields indicate that the isopycnal layer thickness west of Greenland is the primary factor to modulate the AMOC interannual variability across the West section. The AMOC interannual variability across the East section is mostly determined by barotropic velocity changes near the pathway of the North Atlantic Current.

Abstract The healthcare sector has undergone significant transformation due to the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and biotechnologies, presenting both opportunities and threats to the nursing profession. Posthumanism, as a critical perspective challenging anthropocentrism and emphasizing the increasingly blurred boundaries between humans and nonhumans, provides a novel lens to comprehend these technological advancements. In this commentary paper, I draw on the posthuman discourse to argue that in light of these technological forces, we need to contemplate the core values and fundamental patterns of knowing within the nursing discipline, reconfigure nursing scope, redefine its relations with other agents, and embrace a technology-integrated ecosystem of care.
